Hungry Horse Cafe & Convenience Store

The food and prices are good. The service is quick. The personalities behind the counter are sort of cold. I envisioned a place like the Hungryhorse Café as a place where you are invited in and not an atmosphere where you feel like an uninvited guest. Unfortunately, it felt more like the latter, which was greatly disappointing. The lady who cooked my food to go sort of threw my wrapped up food to go (imagine throwing a Frisbee sort of throw) on the counter for me to get instead of placing it on the counter or handing it to me kindly in a bag. She was rude! If I am paying you for a service in which you are profiting, why would you throw the food and just keep going along with your business? I have experience in the service industry and what she did and her demeanor was just negative and cold. It really annoyed me!
I really wanted to like this place more, but being in the service industry is more than just serving good food, it is about making the customer feel good about being there and desiring to come back again. This place may bring back some locals, but I know I may think twice about going back there.

Great pastries! Nice breakfast service too. Mostly just simple staples but done well by an ownership that has pride. Grab lunch and go.

Great food and locally owned and operated. Breakfast and lunch your choice both are awesome. Wether you are a local or passing threw Rye the Hungry Horse should be a stop on your trip for sure.

If you want the best grilled hot dogs on planet earth go here. Yes, the place is a local coffee shop but still those hot dogs!!!

Small and quaint. Fast service with decent food and fresh ingredients for a solid, albeit limited, menu of sandwiches and salads. Pretty good prices too.
