I recently discovered this somewhat hidden gem. Great coffee, very friendly staff and their strawberry-rhubarb pie is phenomenal, crème brûlée is to die for. Tom and Irene at the counter and in the kitchen Are a joy — always welcoming and helpful with a smile!

Foods incrediable ! Very quaint, entiment invirement. The baker & his wife personally prepare all items. Anything you can dream up they can make. Everything they prepare will make your tastebuds soar strait to heaven! They have all the staples of a normal bakery. Yet they also prepare the most exquisite sandwiches. Combinations you normally could not dream up. prices are very reasonable. Indoor & outdoor seating. My sister demanded I try it. Now it is my favorite lunch spot ! I highly recommend the roast beef & chicken pesto ! You will not be disappointed! Bonnebotite !

This is most definitely the best bakery south of Portland. Might even be the best in greater Portland other than a few places that specialize in one or two items. However for pastries, this is the place. If it’s in the case at Fernleaf, it’s going to taste good. Highlights for me are the almond croissants and cannoli cake. I never get there early enough to score a savory croissant or hand pie, really want to try those. Good sandwiches as well, primarily due to great house made bread. Nice place to sit and have coffee or tea, and decent selection of some wines and beers as well. You can tell that the intent is a nice neighborhood spot with a small selection of very good things, and they’re pulling it off.

Sensational sweet treats, quiche etc. Prepare to have wide eyes while you salivate over the pastries. I cannot tell you my favorite other than it’s a cookie.

Great spot with limited seating for breakfast. I felt like I was time machined to grandmas place with all the China decorations! Coffee brewed fresh — beans are not burnt and you can taste all the notes of the various blends. I got the smoked ham and cheddar croissant which hit the spot. If you are lucky, you can grab a table with the antique wooden chairs with the U backing. Definitely worth a visit!

Honestly, this is the cutest little bakery I’ve seen in New England so far. The pastries are sooo good. I reccomend the Carolyns highly– they’re phenomenal! The only even remotely negative comment that I have is that the beverages are usually just a little too hot. They’re fantastic once they’ve cooled a bit, though! I like blueberry tea, but I’ve been told that the chai tea is great here too. Overall, it’s great and I would– and have– recommended it to friends.

Great pie. Only thing that kept them from a 5 was they had a sign up for slices of blueberry pie and when we ordered them it was oh we are sold out but I can sell you a whole pie. Not cool. Not my fault you didn’t change your board. Ended up having to buy a whole pie.

Love it here! Everything I’ve ever gotten is amazing! From croissants, cinnamon twists, Danishes, breakfast sandwich, Christmas Yule log… They also have a nice wine selection, a cozy little café/sitting area and parking is always easy!

The man working was very rude, I had my son with me and ordered 4 dessert items only to have him say«wow, someone has an appetite». We were bringing the items home to share with others, I wasn’t eating it all myself, what an ass! I believe the items are extremely overpriced, considering the quality — the cinnamon rolls are awful, very heavy and hard. Magic bar and whoppie pie I heard was okay, my husband said said the chocolate brownie sucked. Will not go there again.

What a surprise gem we found wandering north from Kennebunkport on our way to drop our daughter at camp… Fernleaf is like moving to a new town and having your next door neighbor invite you in for a coffee, and it turns out they are gourmet down home cooks! They bake a single kind of bread each day and we were lucky enough to have sandwiches served on light as air white olive oil bread(egg salad for my husband and rich almondy pesto chicken salad for me). Best of all was my daughters grilled ham and cheese. We accompanied our meal with a whole jar of homemade dill pickles and topped it off with killer cherry pie and meringue cookies. Such a delicious meal, clearly prepared with love… I mean, how often do you look for the people who took your money to say«thank you» before leaving??? Now that’s a road trip winner!

Best blueberry pie ever! Hands down yummiest pie in the world. If you are wanting to experience Maine blueberries at their best, you MUST try a blueberry pie from Fernleaf! You will have to call them and order it for pick up. They make them fresh to order! Also thy have yummy Whoopie Pies! These are a Maine thing. They are so good! One is big enough for 2 or 3 people. Do yourself a favor and eat here!!!

Decided to give this place a try while on a trip to the Kennebunks. The customer service was awesome, but unfortunately the almond croissant I had was not. Now the almond croissant wasn’t horrible, but I’ve had way better. The croissant was a little too much on the doughy side and the almond paste was just on the ends of the pastry and nonexistent in the center. I however didn’t try anything else they sell, so this could be just an isolated incident. Due to this experience, I don’t think I will be returning.

I have had two extremely delicious sandwiches here — the roasted vegetable and the pesto chicken salad. A small but creative sandwich menu. The bakery items have been solid. Great coffee. Small, cozy and clean, this side-street eatery is worth a visit. I can see me changing this review to five stars if I get blown away a few more times.

This place never disappoints. I go as often as I can(I live in Boston) when I visit my daughter who lives in Saco. Their pastries are delicious, their quiche is fabulous and I had a roasted veggie sandwich there on Friday and it was so good I dreamt about it that night! It was DELICIOUS!!! We go there every chance we get. Nice pot of tea with a REAL teacup and saucer. It is a gem.

Fernleaf is a really cute little bakery. When I went it was full of desserts and things to have for lunch. I’m really excited to try as many of their offerings as possible and I’m going to have to work on that. There are a few small tables inside so I guess you could eat there, but it’s not very spacious and in the Winter I wonder how bad the draft would be whenever anybody walks in. I picked up some desserts to take home and they were delicious, but I really can’t say much about the good looking lunches There are so many interesting little spots to eat in the area that it’s hard to go wrong if you’re in the area and you’re hungry.

I really enjoyed this place. I was visiting Maine for the weekend and while driving through Saco me and my BF saw a sign pointing us in the way of coffee and a bakery. We ended up here at Fernleaf, and were really pleasantly surprised. They have soooo many different baked goods. Whoopie pies, muffins, cinnamon buns, cookies, etc etc. I could barely choose except for the fact that they had a bacon banana muffin! I ordered that with a spiced apple cider(only offered on Saturdays) and my boyfriend had a cinnamon bun with a caramel latte. He really liked the latte, and we both loved the pastries we ordered. I’m not going to knock a star off for this, but its NOT fast. The coffee drinks take awhile, but I had all the time in the world so it didn’t bother me.

The sandwich I had(pesto, mozzarella, tomato) was overpriced and the taste was mediocre. This is my favorite type of sandwich, and I was disappointed by Fernleaf’s version of it. All the ingredients, including the side salad, seemed like the sort of fare I could get at the grocery store.(Bland tomato, bland pesto, soft roll) $ 7.50 was too much. It wasn’t even heated.

Great little sandwich and coffee place. Not sure how they bake their bread, but it was amazing. Deserts were great as well. Just off Main Street, but worth finding.
