This was the first con to which I’ve ever been. It was a great experience and I had a lot of fun. Every 2nd Thursday of the month, the Crocket Art Museum hosts a themed part from 5 — 9. They have great drink specials, so expect to get a mixed drink for about $ 5 — $ 6 or a beer for $ 3 — $ 4. For this particular night, the museum hosted a con, so nerds united in style. Normally, guests pay $ 10 or the events are free to members. For this particular event, anyone wearing a costume got in for free. YES! Enjoy lots of great artwork and plenty of nerds in costume. The cooler your costume, the more photos people will take of you. Parked outside, was a truck modified to resemble the Ectomobile from Ghostbusters and a Delorean! Have fun!

Crocker Hits A Homerun With An Awesome Cosplay Evening SITREP On Thursday Nights, the Crocker Art Museum usually entertains Sacramento with a fun evening open to the public known as «Jazz In The Courtyard». But on rarer Thursdays — such as today — the Crocker is celebrating«Art Mix», and this particular Art Mix is featuring Crocker Con! THESETUP Crocker Con is kind of like a mini-ComicCon. Smaller in scale, but even more intensely fun since everybody here will most likely have a chance of running into one another over the course of the 4-Hour evening. RANDOMMADNESS! There are so many things to enjoy! * Outside in front of the Crocker were the DeLorean from Back To The Future, And the Ghostbusters Mobile! * Inside, there were vendors of all varieties, selling comics, purses, humor cards, etc. etc., and other kinds of items. * There was a wine & beverage bar * There was a bandstand with several acts performing during the night, including the much vaunted Sci-Fi band, «Mos Likely» * Lots and lots and lots of great costumes from the participating Cosplayers! ARTVENDINGMACHINE Now THIS was a kick! My partner-in-crime Bambi convinced me that I needed to spend the $ 5.43(cost & tax apparently) to get an ARTTOKEN to put into this interesting vending machine. There were all sorts of pull-handles and levers of different kinds that each had a different form of art that were available, much like buying candy or old school cigarette machines. From jewelry, sand art, little paintings, etc. etc., there was a lot to choose from in theory — but the catch was you really didn’t know what you were getting until after your pulled the lever of your choice and committed to a selection. SPACEPENDANT I rather was taken by the Space Art selection so I pulled on THAT puppy and got a great Space Art pendant — a wonderful astronautical design on one side of the pendant with the artist’s signature on the other side. WIN. THELOWDOWN For a great time with the arts — visual, music, performance, vending, etc. — coming to an Art Mix night is the best thing you could do in Sacramento!
