RIP, I’m moving. Capricho literally has the BEST Baja fried fish tacos I’ve ever had. And they are super cheap too. I’ll prolly come back to Sac just to make it back here. Also, their salsas are super yummy too: D.

Go in and get yourself a couple three soft Baja-style fish tacos and a cold beer. You won’t regret it! This is my go-to fish taco spot when I want good tacos for cheap. As satisfying as the over-priced tacos at Zocalo. Nice selection of Mexican and craft beer, too(bottles only)!

Not only are the chips and salsa free, the water is complimentary as well! Furthermore, the lemon inside of the water is at no extra cost! On top of this, you can use their utensils and napkins without being charged! Lastly, the tables and chairs are not metered! This review is based primarily on their chicken burrito and salsa. Because super tasty. However, I’ve ordered two or three dishes besides my normal chicken burrito and didn’t find those dishes super tasty. And because I like super tasty, I just stick with my burrito y mas y mas salsa verde.

If you like waiting over 20 minutes for three overpriced tacos to go this place is for you. The ambiance in this place is weird and it’s needs to figure out if they want to be grimy and cheap or healthy, new age and expensive. Because right now it’s a combination of both and it’s not really working for them. If you want decent food I advise not going here

Looks can be deceiving, and sometimes dissapointing. Ordered the Baja fish taco combo. The beans were great, but the they either need to make the Baja sauce stronger, or use less cilantro, because it was such a one note dish. After three bites I was pretty bored with the taste of cilantro. Especially since it had made its way into my rice as well. It was okay, but not great.

Café Capricho must be Spanish for«train wreck». The food was decent, but the cashier was so arrogant, oblivious, and rude that we decided to never go back. Such a beautiful Sunday evening wasted on an impatient little brat who could only muster up a long, irritated, blank stare, eye rolling, and the added bonus of placing our order wrong. But, the best part– NOONE was in line behind us, yet, we were apparently wasting his time while trying to navigate that beast of a menu without so much as a «take your time» or «here are the specials» or even«HELLO». No seriously, not even hello. We felt like we stumbled into some late-night, fast food drive-thru with three times the price. I’ve been in the food industry for 20 years and have never felt the need to «yelp» a bad experience until tonight. It’s just SO painful to hand my hard earned money(including a generous tip) to a person who has no inkling what it means to work in customer service, nor any consideration for the hard work of his fellow staff.

The food is amazing! I had the chicken enchiladas(lots of shredded chicken). I chose the mole sauce. It came w/white rice & tasty soft black beans. There was lots of cheese perhaps under the rice or from the enchiladas, which was great. My favorite part was the plantain. It was sweet. I will definitely be back many more times since it is a fairly healthy food option and tasty. I am stuffed! I also like the atmosphere as it is casual. You walk to the counter and order but they have fresh cold water with lemon. There is outdoor and indoor seating. The customers seem interesting and you can feel comfortable coming in as a couple or individual.

I hope they go back to plates for eat in dining. The last time I had tacos served in a basket on paper. I understand that this is a cost saving measure but, the reason I eat in is to not have a fast food experience. They also left out the cabbage side which was part of what made the shredded chicken tacos so good. I’ll give them another try but if they continue I’ll probably be passing this place up.

Won’t be coming back here anymore– the service is just too bad. We came in to eat and after everything we asked for(or about) the girl with the accent said«NO» very abruptly with a blank, annoyed stare. She rolled her eyes at us when we asked if the burger comes with fries. Apparently, it’s crazy to ask that question, despite the fact that every other restaurant in the country serves burgers with fries, except for here. My partner asked for a side of toast and she just shook her head at him. We were confused and asked«oh do you not have bread?» she said«we do» and he said«can i have some with the salad, on the side or something». She said«no». I asked, can i have another spread on the burger besides mayo, like ranch, she said no. Then she made it super uncomfortable when she asked us if we wanted to leave her a tip. I didn’t want to because she was rude(or rather, not nice) and she seemed huffy after I didn’t enter one in(cashier shouldn’t ask you if you are going to tip them. It’s unprofessional and rude) We sat freezing while we waited for the food– pouring rain and they have the AC blasting. The veggie burger was absolutely tasteless, like cardboard. The greek salad was a bowl of iceberg stems with a few tomato pieces, 2 cucumbers, 2 olives, and a tiny sprinkle of some cheese that wasn’t feta, with no dressing. Should be $ 2.50, not almost $ 7, like it is. The girl was silent when she dropped our food– she seemed like she had this complete disdain for working there or hated people. When we said goodbye when we left, she just totally ignored us. Too bad– We gave this place a lot of business, and would have given more because we live right around the corner. But unfriendly service is not something we can keep coming back for.

It’s not the cheapest Mexican food on Folsom Blvd but it might be the best. My wife and I have tried every taco on the menu and they were all great. The best are the fish tacos with cabbage and the baja. Be sure to grab a fork because these tacos are delightfully messy.

Good selection of food. Their menu has some vegetarian options. I’ve had the tacos(delicious!), bean cheese and potato burrito’s(really good), and their open burrito. For beverages they have soda’s and beer, but I usually pass on and just have water. My only issues with the place is the wait and the fact that they usually get my order wrong. Still recommend and I will continue to visit.

First time here. Stopped in for a quick vegetarian lunch. The food was great. Had a «burrito bowl». Rice, black beans, roasted butternut squash w/sauce. I would definitely come back!

They have bad service and mediocre food. I should’ve listen to the bad reviews. I have medical restrictions and I was very specific when I order my food. When they brought the food I noticed they messed up. I asked them to fix it, and they said they had to call the owner. Really? I dont know of many restaurant that do that and are still open. Either its a bad employee or the owner is not worried about customer satisfaction.

Their food is not worth the effort and their service was terrible. My family and I still cook and savor our traditional Indigenous Mexican vegan/vegetarian food, so I was sadly disapointed when I took my first bite. The food was bland and poorly executed. I figured maybe it was a one time mistake, so I went back, but things took a turn for the worse. Not only was their food again poorly prepared, but this time they screwed up my order. I figured I would give them the opportunity to fix it, but when brought to their attention they said they had to call the owner, and that it took awhile. I figured this was protocol, so I went along with it, and paid for yet another entrée while I waited for the owners response. After 40 minutes I was never given a response nor compensated for their mistake. Finally, I decided to do what I have never done and that is write a review. I dont want anyone else to go through what I did to get decent food and decent service.

When hunting for options that meet both my meat-eating hubby’s meat loving wants and my meat avoidance habits, needless to say, it can be challenging. In this case, we had a new friend manage that battle and Café Capricho rode in like our knight in shining armor. Now, I could tell you that this sparkling hero provided affordable fare, cozy accommodations and great service, but no, that would be redundant. It’s all been said in the 353 prior reviews. What really makes this damsel in distress give Café Capricho the coveted fifth star, the personal attention from the owners. Ed in particular reached out to me, recognizing my dietary preferences. And, boy, does he ever down play the very vegi-flexible nature of the menu. Not only do they have specifically vegetarian AND vegan dishes, but they’re willing to adjust the existing menu to accommodate. Café Capricho, dragon slayer, has swept away this princess.

Nice little eatery, with serve yourself chips and salsa, which were quite good. Counter service and outdoor seating available in front. I orders the quinoa salad, which sadly had more salad greens than actual quinoa, which was just«sprinkled» throughout. The butternut squash Enchiladas with green sauce was an excellent choice for vegans, but looked a little dry and unattractive upon arrival to our table. The taste itself was not bad, but again, it could have used a little more spice and sauce. When we asked the waitress for a side of Mole sauce, we were told«no, it’s only for the«mole enchiladas». Too bad, as it would have improved my dinner greatly. The food prep time was a little slow for this type of restaurant. The service itself was good, no complaints, would dine here again.

Let me just say, I LOVETHISPLACE! My boyfriend and his family live in East Sac, close to Capricho’s and he took me there for the first time last year and I fell in love! I love their chicken burrito’s, salsa, and tacos! I love their black beans and rice, super flavorful! Most of all I love the service! I simply adore the young gentleman that is usually there behind the counter. He is always patient, and recommends things, and always has a pleasant demeanor to him. I wish more people in the restaurant industry were like that! Writing this review actually makes me want to go there right now! Well, that’s all I gotta say about this place, go and try everything on the menu!!! They are a great little business, run by amazing people!

Food is decent. I don’t understand their decision to charge extra for chips on take-out orders. An order comes with one tiny handful of chips, and you are allowed to munch on chips while you wait for your order, so the charge makes no sense to me. Most restaurants offer unlimited chips. Don’t be so stingy with the chips. Otherwise, I usually enjoy my order. Service is good.

Was really excited to try this place but it was not as wonderful as the reviews made it out to be. The atmosphere is cute and the outside patio is a plus. Husband ordered the ground beef stuffed pepper $ 10.50 and I had the squash enchiladas. The stuffed pepper was definitely not«stuffed». It had about an 1⁄8 of a cup of beef… More like a sprinkling of meat inside. We thought maybe they just missed a pepper while they were stuffing them earlier in the day so we asked the waitress, she went on to say that was the adequate amount and something about how more wouldn’t fit because how peppers expand etc? I’ve made stuffed peppers many times and they’re definitely capable of holding a mouthful of meat. Oh well. However it was also pretty bland and a very small portion(especially since there was almost no filling in the pepper). It would have been nice if they might have offered to replace the pepper(?) I wasn’t really buying the idea that they only place a teaspoon full of meat in the peppers. My enchiladas were pretty tasteless as well. It seemed that they might have pre-cooked or steamed the squash without any seasoning and then later added it into the enchiladas so the whole thing was pretty boring. Also not sure if they forgot the cheese? I added hot sauce and it was edible. The three stars are for the chips and salsa(green salsa is delicious), also the rice is very flavorful, and the patio is nice. Unfortunately we won’t be going back.

Ok so I had this place last night and wasn’t expecting much to be honest. This place blew my stomaches mind and heart! I think I’m in love and it’s taking a toll on my focus and life. I will probably be eating here like three weeks straight I had the potatoes and cheese hard taco and the shredded chicken hard taco. I also got plantains and a few items for my friends. We were all super delighted with the food. Thanks for a wonderfully delicious experience! Me and my stomach will easily become regulars from now on.

I stopped by Café Capricho one weekday afternoon for lunch because 1) I was craving tacos and 2) I wanted something simple and fresh. I had Café Capricho bookmarked because they have tacos AND a ton of Vegetarian options. Sold! Pro Tip: Call in your to go order before you get there. Otherwise it’ll be a longish wait. I arrived quickly and was able to find parking down a side street because there’s no parking lot. It was a nice afternoon so the patio was filled with customers but there were plenty of tables outside. I lucked out and there was no line when I arrived, but it formed quickly afterwards. I ordered Two Crispy Tacos(One Bean and Cheese and One Potato and Cheese) which also came with complimentary Chips and Salsa. My total was under $ 6.50 and it was a perfect serving for me for lunch. Yes! After quite a bit of a wait(I’m lucky to have an hour lunch) I was on my way. I got back to the office and discovered that the tacos were SO delicious! Simple with just beans, cheese and lettuce or potatoes, cheese and lettuce but so good and satisfying. I especially liked the perfectly crisp taco shell that didn’t get soggy during my 10 minute drive back. The complimentary chips and salsa were great too; the chips were fresh(not out of the bag) and the salsa was flavorful. Win win! I will definitely come back to Café Capricho for another healthy lunch on the cheap. When I was there I saw they also have a pretty good happy hour with food specials and plenty of craft beers in their cooler. Many of the menu items are Vegetarian(or can be made to be) so I would definitely recommend.

I loved their fish tacos here! Fresh, made to order! Filling and not overwhelming. They’re black beans don’t have that clay texture that most places serve them like. They’re cooked fresh every day in the morning. Cute outdoor patio and they have the tasty Mexican sodas I’ve always loved. Give this hidden gem a try! It’s a must!

WHERESTHEPORK! Originally went to this restaurant when it first opened. It was our favorite. Then after a few months the meat seemed to disappear. Finally decided about 3 years ago, no more. Today decided to give it another try. Had a carnitas burrito. Actually tasted like a boiled pork burrito. And about 2 tablespoons of pork. $ 7.50. If you like a big burrito filled with lettuce, rice and watered down avacodo imitation this is the place for you.

I lived down the street for more than 3 years and never managed to make it here. Of course I leave the neighborhood and finally come back to try it and wondered what the hell I was doing with my life. My fiancé and I came on a beautiful weekend afternoon. I loved their selection, both for beer and food. I had a Scrimshaw and the Strand’s Salad, add chicken. This was the PERFECT summertime salad. The ingredients were so fresh and delicious. My fiancé had tacos and said they were tasty, but missing just a little something that he couldn’t figure out. One complaint I had: only one register. And the girl in front of us took, no joke, 10 minutes to decide if she wanted a beer or not. At the register. She even pulled one out of the case and kept asking if they had something like«a red ale… but not this, like a stout? But not a stout…» I really wish that the staff would have asked her to step aside and make up her damn mind so they could help the rapidly growing line of customers behind her. I might have been hangry enough at that point in time to comment on her indecisiveness. But whatever, the whole world doesn’t revolve around you, lady! Otherwise, the food is delicious and the staff is attentive and friendly. I can’t wait to come back and try other stuff!

Wow! What an amazing meal today. So fresh and delicious!!! We were fortunate to meet the wonderful owners of the restaurant while there. Husband and wife team who love making sure their customers happy. The food was sooo good! My fiancé had a chile relleno cooked to perfection. It wasn’t deep fried like most dishes. And I had a quesadilla that was out of this world. White corn, cheese, butternut squash, and poblano. Amazingly good!!! I also to drink a Grapefruit/Sage/Kombucha(unsure on spelling). Very refreshing! Such a delight to find a new favorite to add to our list!

Great little place near Sutter General Hospital on Folsom. I had two soft tacos. The Baja Cod taco was outstanding. It was so good i came back the next day. And I don’t even like fish tacos. Really good. I’ll definitely get these again if and when I’m back in that area. Neat little interior and great street-side eating on a nice day. Parking sucks but worth trolling for a parking place or a long walk for the food.
