People in Sac like to go to the«dive bars.» Well, this is a real dive bar. Limited selection of alcohol, not sure what’s up with the food, mostly weird people.

Comfortable atmosphere with well-priced drinks and very good food. Outdoor seating and tables for smoking, drinking, and eating that is partially covered for weather. They have Taco Tuesdays for small pitcher of beer and a taco for $ 5 and Thirsty Thursdays with well priced drinks and on Friday they have open tourney Dart Tournaments. Definitely a bar and grill to check out.

Came here after a photo shoot that was next door. My friend asked for a mixed drink an the bartender said«I don’t know what you want you have to let me know» my friend then tells her she wants a mojito the bartender replies«well I have mint in the back but I’m not about to muddle that for you.» I look at my friend like wth? Who says that?! Then she says«I’m not sure what brought you guys in maybe because it’s hot outside» well that’s my cue to go! Byeeee!!!

Four stars for not being this anymore… The storefront previously known as Silk Bar and Grill is now the new location of Callison’s Bar and Grill. The owner were forced to relocated from their previous location at 2878 Fulton due to their building being demolished. Or something like that. This is long running family business tracing it’s origins to 1952 and I applaud them for taking a chance on the gritty but charming Boulevard in what the city neighborhood maps describe as Old North Sacramento. To be honest, this is still a work in progress. I have only been in during the day a few times at lunch and have yet to get a handle on the place. A smallish elbowed-off bar on one side of the room. $ 3 Coors Lights and $ 4.75 Skyy Vodkas. 4 Dart machines. Darts are big here. Internet Jukebox. Fried vittles from a mysterious kitchen. Cement floors. Callison’s has yet to hit it’s stride, but they have only been re-opened since early November. They will no doubt have a rough go of it at first with this being a neighborhood that has proven itself to be inhospitable to corner taverns. Not to mention, I doubt a lot of their regulars from the Arden-Arcade area make it over here on the regular. Hopefully they will be able to weather the first couple of years and settle into the neighborhood. The proximity to Midtown and the location directly across the street from the Globe Light Rail station will give them a chance to expand their business beyond their surroundings.
