Great food. Great prices. My three friends and I agree this a great diner for breakfast.

First off the women serving the food have ponytails down their backs, normally this wouldn’t be a problem but considering my co-workers and I have been there(more than once) and found hair in our food obviously this is a problem. The silverware is always dirty and you have to remind the servers multiple times of what you want. My Bacon was undercooked, My Over-hard ordered eggs were runny like a child’s nose, the food was greasy and the pancakes were so dry it kept drinking up the syrup before I had a chance to take my first bite. the servers couldn’t even get the lemon water right. After reminding the woman about the lemons more than once she brings them out in her hand(not a dish) and the lemons looked like they were previously used as a chaser for somebodies Hennessey. They lemons were old and withered, needless to say I did not enjoy my food. Considering I only paid $ 5.50 some would say 2 pancakes, eggs and bacon were fairly priced but let me tell you I would gladly regurgitate the little bit of the meal I ate just for 1.50 of my money back. you better off going to the bar next store if you want to be satisfied leaving this place.

Delicious and cheap breakfast! Taking away one star because my wife along with her main plate, ordered rice and half of it wasn’t completely cooked! Plus, it was obviously a low grade rice. They should’ve at least let us know what type of rice they have or my wife wouldn’t have ordered and wasted the $ 2 for it. Tsk tsk

As advertised: Woolworth’s style breakfast/lunch stop with awesome home– style meals that will fill you up n not empty your wallet! Sunday AM n we were staying at the Citizen Hotel, and decided to skip The Grange and its $ 7.99 bowl of oatmeal, and walked over to this café. Killer service from Joni, great hamburger steak with eggs, hash browns, and toast-perfecto on all accounts. By my girlfriend’s account, the biscuits n gravy was a lil doughy, but it had been a long time since she had them, so maybe she forgot how they should be-no matter… my toast made it yummy! There’s a review of 1-star from a guy who heard a conversation outside the café, nothing to do with food, and now they get a negative review… inspect some of these reviews Unilocal!!! Food is as advertised, great price, service from Joni impeccable– hat is off to you!

I’ve been going here for years. By far my favorite Breakfast spot in Sacramento. Don’t get me wrong it is definitely a «hole-in-a-wall» spot. But when I go out to eat I go out for the food not the décor. I will take good food over, nice drapes and warm towels any day! This place give you the most bang for your buck. Could easily feed two adults for only $ 15 bucks. And the portions sizes will leave you full until supper time! For example, whenever I go I always order Hearty Combo #2 Which is 2 French Toast Slices, 2 Eggs, 2 Pieces of Bacon, 2 Sausage Links and your choice of hash browns or O’Brien Potatoes all of this for only $ 6.95! Every place else and trust me I do mean every place else will«a-la-carte» you to death to put together the same meal. All is all good food, great wait staff they even know me and my wife by name and greet us every time we come!

Not bad for the money! Very old world, 1950ish setting but the breakfast was tasty enough. No ambiance, no frills, no thrills. Just decent tasting food and decent service.

I love the breakfast in this place. The food was relatively cheaper for breakfast and big portion. I loved their henry’s special for only $ 6. But please don’t get the orange juice. They charge $ 2. That was expensive compared to the meal portion and $$$.. It didn’t taste as if this was freshly squeezed. Unless they are importing from a foreign country this juice. Ha-ha. If you want cheap and affordable breakfast, Henry’s the perfect spot to come by. My co-workers had gravy — they did not like. And another one had pancakes – she loved it. And another one had steak — -he said it was okay. But they all loved my food… wohoooo

Very disappointed with the service and food. I went in today with a couple coworkers and we had to return the food. Granted the staff was short handed, but when you work with the public you can at least pretend not to hate your job, and fake a smile. I ordered the pork chops and eggs and my coworkers odered the club sandwich. We called ahead of time and I was told the wait was 20 min. I arrived 20 mins after I called and still had to wait another 15 to 20 mins. I wasn’t told until after I was waiting about 5 to 10 mins that there wasn’t even pork chops available. I changed my odered to steak and eggs with extra crispy hash browns. When I received my food it was a joke. The hash browns were mushy and the steak was the smallest cut I had ever seen. My serving we twice as small as another coworker of mine who ordered the same thing! BTW they forgot the toast for his order. The club sandwich another coworker order was made wrong. She asked for no cheese and there was cheese, it was also missing bacon and the fries were cold. I would not recommend.

Time to get a way a little bit from a hussle and bustle of Biggest Easter eggs hunt in the state capital and found this hidden gem for cheap and usual breakfast. Another place worth it visit again while in downtown for breakfast.

We walked in the morning after New Year’s Eve and then walked out and then we came back. Got a table right next to the bar(wise move). Our server Lucy helped us right away and she was super cool. Two minutes later I *ucking love this place. Haven’t even gotten our food. We don’t even know how good the waitress is going to be. We’re just ordinary Unilocalers having a good time. Sassafras. I’m not guilty about this pleasure. Waiting for our scrambles and brunch burger while enjoying our mimosas. *im still drunk kinda from this morning. Tbc

Awesome food for really cheap. Had a perfect selection for breakfast/brunch. I had two eggs and hash browns(HUGE plus for a vegetarian like me not to get forced into ordering bacon or sausage) for $ 4. The boyfriend had half a sandwich and a salad for like $ 5. There is a bar next door which looks like you can order food and eat in there. This is NOT the place for snooty high nosed people. There are less fortunate people who come in this establishment to get a warm meal for cheap. The staff here are really attentive and so kind hearted. I Watched the cashier let a man take his food even though he was a few buck short. I love to see a local place take care of its local people.

Crappy little hole in the wall café. Grabbed breakfast here one day before a conference, probably wouldn’t go back again. I think this café, the bar next door, the hotel, and the corner store are all under the same ownership, because our waitress had been working the till at the corner store a few days earlier.

Great little spot for a cheap, but delicious breakfast. We always go for the five dollar breakfast;eggs, pancakes(with that amazing whipped butter), and bacon or sausage. The meal leaves you full, not uncomfortably stuffed. Oh, and great service every time we’ve gone.

If you like cheap, non-chain places to eat with LOTS of character, EATHERE. Where else can you get steak & eggs for $ 8. Skip your overpriced, no charm or character hotel breakfast/lunch and eat here. Very friendly staff and quick service. The place and the regulars here remind me of a Damon Runyon/David Goodis noir novel. I’ll be back the next time I’m in Sacramento.

Came here today for lunch, ordered the BLT. service was good, they’re pretty quick quick with making the food, and the price is right. So whats the con you ask? they burnt the heck out of the sourdough toast on my BLT. The top of my mouth is still in pain, cause I didn’t wanna be that person that sends her sandwich back, especially if it was only around 5 bucks. But i hardly think the price is a sufficient reason to serve burnt toast on a sandwich. i mean, its like. the soul of the sandwich. will I be back? maybe for the breakfasts, i hear those are awesome.

Walking distance from the Capitol and this is the perfect place for cheap eats! Almost everything on the menu looked like it was under $ 7 bucks. They serve breakfast and lunch(sandwiches/burgers). I ordered an Extravaganza Omelet(pick your own 4 ingredients) which came w/hashbrowns and English muffin. The omelet was good, but my bf’s chili burger which came w/steak fries, was better. The chili burger came open-faced and there was chili everywhere! I ended up taking some of my bf’s fries and dippin’ them in the chili. Service was good for the most part and I enjoyed the walls that were painted in Christmas colors of dark red/green.
