If I had been writing this a year ago, Clark’s Corner would have 4 or even 5 stars. But since I write this the day after the announcement that the bar/grill was closed down, I will speculate on why the ratings(seemingly for almost everyone) had declined so much in the last 6 months. The menu had changed, not for the better, due apparently to a new chef. Previously the food was appetizing and kept us going back, but with the new régime they appeared to have«cheaped out» on the offerings. We really think the downturn occurred when the kitchen changed. As to our personal experience, the service had become spotty at the same time. Also, it didn’t help the ambience that one of the bartenders had a voice like a banshee which cut through every attempt at conversation. We hope someone revives the spot and comes in with an appealing menu. It is a nice, convenient East Sac location. For now we’ll stick to Bacon and Butter.

Horrible … The only reason why I’m giving 2 starts is because of the mimosas … The mimosas were really good ! The food, in the other hand… Horrible. We waited about 40 minutes to received the food. Once we got our plates… The slider biscuits I got were cold… The sweet potatoes were saggy… My friends sausage were uncooked… My other friend got the wrong bread she order … We didn’t even finish our meals… The server was a bit«uneasy» when my bf asked to changed their Bloody Mary cues it was water down and the flavor wasn’t all there… He said«I have to ask my manager to see if I can switch it to mimosas«really? Come on… All u have to do is switch it … Not to say… They were out of country potatoes … They just lost a customer… Well a few.

Ok, after stewing for a week and very disappointed with the new menu, I finally decided to write my review. As a regular who frequents Clark’s a minimum of 3 days per week, which equals to a good amount of $$ per week. The reason, I don’t have to eat alone while the other half is working, but most of all I love the staff. I was VERY disappointed the day the new menu came out. When looking at it, I thought, actually blurted out loud, «what happened to Clarks Corner Bread and Zucchini Fries and Mac n Cheese! I order each of these items at least once a week. These are staple items on the menu. And the Brussel Sprouts, why in the world is blue cheese added to them. Brussel Sprouts are already pungent but to add blue cheese! As I continued reading over the menu to find such items as deviled duck eggs, seared salmon belly, braised pork cheeks, I had an outburst of WTH is this stuff. I thought we aren’t at a fancy restaurant, we are at the neighborhood bar/restaurant. With all the new words and all the misspelling, because obviously someone didn’t know how to use spell check, I needed an interpretation of what everything was. And then to see that all the courses have only one price is absurd. Seafood and Vegetables, the same price of $ 23 each. Ridiculous! To calm myself a bit, a friend and I decided to order a few appetizers. We ordered the brussel sprouts, fried green beans and the Mac n cheese fritters, well what a disappoint that was, well actually confirmed my thoughts. The Brussel Sprouts were overpowered by blue cheese, the green beans would be better if there was more sauce drizzled over the top, actually the real bean green casserole would have been better, and the Mac n Cheese was blah, just breaded macaroni. I have been in there once for one drink on my way home from a musical, but haven’t been able to bring myself in there otherwise. Why ruin a good thing, like the food??? I’m all for change but in baby steps. People, especially regulars, have a hard time with change. There has been a lot of change at Clark’s, both visible and behind the scenes, as the kitchen staff. Some things need to remain the same. Change a few of the menu items that aren’t so popular, but to remove the items that are or tweak the ones that are«go to», bad idea. I also understand that the new chef wants to make the menu his own and take credit for his creations, but some things are better left untouched. The reason for the 2 stars is because I love Mason, Louis, Alex, Jake and Emily, they all deserve 5!!! I am disappointed that I am now having to look for a new place to dine and hangout.

This place is awesome! Came right at 3 with my sister for happy hour(on a Monday), got a wedge salad, which was pretty good, the wings which were AWESOME, a bit salty though but sooo good. And also got some garlic fries, really good portion sizes for the price and everything was so good. They didn’t have a ton of beers on tap but I definitely liked the selection, plus $ 3 for some of the draft beers on happy hour was a steal! Last but not least, our waitress was amazing! Corinne was so sweet and even though we sat on the patio when everyone else was inside, she was still very attentive and didn’t seem to care at all that we wanted to sit on the patio(some place don’t like that for some reason). Overall this was just a great experience, perfect for happy hour, great food, cool vibes, I will definitely be coming back.

Food and drinks were solid. As an appetizer, the server recommended the sauteed brussel sprouts with bacon. I usually stay away from bacon and my husband doesn’t touch brussel sprouts. But these were so good we both loved them. Drinks were well crafted and they had a nice selection of specialty cocktails. There is an outdoor patio and they allow dogs and brought our pooch a bowl of water:). The patio is kind of hidden — if you are facing the entrance, it’s around the left and towards the back.

Color me impressed. My latest visit to Clark’s made me wonder why it took me so long to return, especially after chowing down on offerings from their expansive lunch menu. I came for the 49er’s game, I stayed for the food. Like practically anywhere in Sacramento, you have to strategically stake your claim on seats to watch the game well before it actually starts. We posted our flag on a center table in the bar area. The bar is spacious yet cozy and filled with warm vibes when filled with inebriated football fans. There were 5 – 6 TVs to view, but I was disappointed by the lack of sound which I and a couple others asked be turned up multiple times to no avail. The food and the service blew me away. The wings, both in the teriyaki and traditional buffalo, were some of the best I’ve had in Sacramento. The french dip sandwich was packed full of melt-in-your-mouth beef, gooey cheese and sweet onions and paired perfectly with the au jus. The fries were the perfect crispy companion. Our server was also a pleasure, checking in on us frequently and all the time referring to us as «hun» and«sweetie.» We tipped her accordingly. Now, if they can just get the sound tailored to a proper game experience, I’ll be back here for every game of the season!

Finally stopped in to Clark’s Corner on Saturday evening after saying«we should try that» every time we drove by! We were looking for a place to watch the Giants game and grab a bite. We were warmly greeted inside and were given a choice of sitting in the bar area which they said was livelier than that back dining area, so we chose the bar. The bartender, Alex, was very friendly and got our drinks right away. We ordered the«fried brussel sprouts» appetizer as well as the Truffle Mac & Cheese. Delish!!! After we devoured those, we ordered a combo pizza which was also quite tasty. We’ll be back!

I have eaten here a handful of times for lunch and dinner and I have not been disappointed. Some of the delicious menu items I have enjoyed include: Appetizers — roasted brussel sprouts w/bacon YUM — loaded fries Entrees — French dip w/carmelized onions — Fish ‘n Chips — Fish Tacos The service is always on par — polite, attentive and the atmosphere is cool too. I think this place has a great vibe and I’m always happy to go there when someone suggests it. The patio is dog friendly too so I foresee a Sunday Funday here in my near future.

Came here a second time after really liking it the first but was sorely disappointed. I’m glad I waited to collect two data points before making my decision about Clark’s. First time: Visited on a quiet Friday night — it was not poppin’ in Clark’s by any stretch of the imagination. In fact it was downright depressing. But as we were there to talk over food and drinks amongst us 3, the environment was only a minor issue. The food and service were great that night. The veggie burger was on point in terms of freshness, and the fries were clearly just made. Overall a pretty good experience. Second time: Came for lunch on a weekday and, unsurprisingly, it was yet again not busy. In the daytime it was apparent that the place is clearly more of a bar than a restaurant. There was palpable grime to the seats, tables and menus. Not exactly how I want to feel before I eat my lunch. Worst of all, service was slow, dreary, and apathetic. I felt like I was eating at a restaurant in the middle of nowhere that thinks they have no clientele to impress. Although Sac is not a far cry from that, I think for Sac standards it’s still pretty atrocious. The meat was a little gamey, which I wasn’t totally comfortable with. Different strokes for different folks… It just isn’t my style. The angus patty could have been seasoned more because it just seemed like it was straight up ground beef. Blech. So at the end of the day Clark’s seems to be a good spot for a grimey night out at the bar, or a veggie burger if you must eat something while you’re here. Oh yes, the fries were good and fresh too. But that’s all there is to it.

A group of six of us came here for brunch on Sunday and basically everyone got something different and everyone enjoyed what they got. 3 people were from out of town and kept saying how great the food in sacramento was and was suprising since they were from the bay. I ordered the chile verde pork breakfast with an egg on it. It was quite delicious. I originally came here right after this place converted from the corner bar to clarks corner a while back and was not too impressed. But the brunch we all had definitely changed my mind about this place. I highly recommend coming in for brunch as it was not too packed and it was easy to get a seat.

My usual go to Sunday Funday spot. They have great food and bottomless mimosas! I usually order the Lox Down. Which has their house cured salmon, dill caper cream cheese, pickled red onions, tomato, served on a fresh bagel and it is absolutely delicious! Not the best Lox I have ever had but really close! I have also ordered their Southern style biscuits and gravy and it was also amazing! Their house made gravy is the best I have ever had. I can’t wait to keep trying everything else on the menu. They have a nice outdoor patio that is dog friendly and tons of spacious room on the inside. The service has been hit or miss the last few times but usually is great. If you are coming in a big group on Sunday you should probably call ahead to check if it’s super busy. All in all a great spot and would recommend!

I came here a couple weeks ago for a co-workers going away party. The service was definitely 5 stars from reservation to the end of the meal. When I called for the reservation the woman on the phone was friendly, and accomadated my requests for the party. During dinner, our server(Courtney, I think) did an excellent job of taking care of the 10 of us. For dinner I ordered the sliders with a salad and the jalapeño cornbread. The sliders were good, but the meat was a little dry. The salad was good and tasted fresh. The jalapeño cornbread was my favorite. It was perfectly moist and the jalapenos added a nice kick to it. The next time we have a work party, I will definitely consider having it at Clark’s Corner.

My brother brings me here every time I come into town, but we mostly have cocktails but on Saturday after a work out we headed over for Mimosas. For this A M A Z I NG sandwich I’m throwing down 5stars. That’s how bomb it was. Clark’s Corner Bird — grilled chicken breast, bacon, pepperjack, crispy shallots, house ranch, sourdough Staff is so friendly and service was fantastic. She kept our Mimosas flowing.

I don’t come hear enough. Ok…that may be a lie. But I wish I could come here more often. The best time to come to Clark’s in during their Sunday Brunch hours. Unlimited mimosas until 2pm and the spicy bloody marys. Forget the food, count me in for a lazy sunday drink-o-thon. The food is pretty good as well. Portion sizes are always on-point and the staff are always checking in to make sure your experience is great. My personal favorites are the sliders, veggie burger and the hash! Come to this neighborhood bar and feel welcomed and a little tipsy on a Sunday morning. Lovvvvvvvvvvvve Clarks!

I had never heard of this sports bar and grill, but my boyfriend Joe K. reminded me that a long time ago, this was a Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, which I vaguely remember being here before back in the 70’s. I got to rediscover this place when my friend, co-worker, and fellow Unilocaler Melissa L. invited me to her 30th birthday party. I looked forward to attending in more ways than one! My work place has been extremely stressful and I needed a distraction. Since it was my weekend off, partying with friends, relaxing with a few stiff drinks, and dining out was a needed change of pace! Trying to arrive on time to this destination was our only disappointment early in the evening. Clark’s Corner is located on a corner with high curbs and a barely accessible parking lot with few spaces. The narrow lot of about 8 spaces was already full and just trying to maneuver through it without driving off the steep curb was just ridiculous! So we found ourselves driving past the restaurant about three times, searching the residential streets which were mixed with some small businesses. «No Parking» signs posted all over the place except for business patrons. Finally, we ended up right around the corner in a closed for the evening, medical clinic that surprisingly didn’t have any threatening anti-parking signs in their lot! After parking and praying that we wouldn’t get towed, my irritated grumpiness slowly faded away as soon as we entered the bar area. We were directed to the back of the restaurant where the birthday gathering was being held. I was impressed right away at how spacious the interior was compared to the outside of the building. There is even an outdoor heated patio area. I just couldn’t imagine all the customers that they are able to accommodate would be able to find a place to park. They must get a lot of local residents that walk to this place! On to the food… The menu has a nice variety of selections with some vegetarian options that really caught my eye. I was in the mood for a burger and fries, but I’m often faced with receiving an under cooked hamburger that makes me reluctant to order them in restaurants which in turn causes me to dislike red meat all together. Then I spied their Spicy Black Bean Veggie Burger with my choice of garlic fries! The description had me sold. The burger is served with chipotle sauce, Pepper Jack cheese, alfalfa sprouts, and tomatoes, on a wheat bun. The fries were deep fried, crisp, lightly salted, heavily coated with garlic and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese. One of the most outstandingly tasty veggie burger and fries I’ve had to date! Then, accompany this meal with 2 of their potent signature cocktails named«That’s My Jam» and I couldn’t have had a more enjoyable evening than this!(Jam is part of the ingredients in this drink)! My bf had the Hanger Steak sandwich on a rosemary ciabatta roll with sweet potato fries which he liked also. Everyone in our party ordered different items and expressed how delicious their meals were. Our waiter Adam V. did a great job taking care of our birthday party and everyone had a good time celebrating. We even had live music playing from a jazz trio that added some nice entertainment for the evening.
Have you ever dined out somewhere and had a delicious meal that was so good you can’t stop thinking about it and want to go back again? Well this is one of those times!

Clark’s is a quaint, dog friendly, local spot to eat, drink and relax. We have been to Clark’s several times since my 1st review and overall enjoy our experience. The Bartenders and staff are great, very friendly and enchanting. Regulars sit at the bar and join in conversations. Love the drinks and drink specials! Friday nights are packed due to it being open Mic Night. So get there early. So why not 5 Stars? A few reasons: –1st reason is the BBQ is a bit overly smoked. Though the ribs were very tasty and fall of the bone tender, they were also covered in sauce and taste a bit too much of smoke. –2nd reason is the parking: This location sits awkwardly on the corner of 56 st and J St which leaves limited spots. We were forced to park in a side parking lot. Though there are signs and supposedly cameras, our vehicle and another was broken into. Smash and Grab! So tacky! The owner was helpful and willing to assist in anyway he could. By no way is this the owner or restaurant’s fault but I think since this has occurred before it is time to add more light and a security guard. Just my personal thoughts.. . Even with the break in we will be back, but probably during the day only!

Came here on a Friday night for open mic night. Great little restaurant/bar. This place was packed! We entered through the bar area and proceeded to the back restaurant area where all of the musicians were performing. We were awestruck to see so much talent under one roof. A friend was MC’ing and that’s how we come to find this little gem. There was never a dull moment with all of the different variety of singers. Many of the singers sang their own songs but there were a lot of performers who sang and played a cover song. Never a dull moment. Unfortunately, we didn’t really really consume anything but a couple of beers and a cocktail. Others in our party ordered the buffalo wings and garlic fries off of the bar menu since the restaurant was closed for dinner. Mind you, it was probably 11pm by then. Clark’s is located adjacent to Sac State. Come out to open mic if you want to see and hear some really great local talent perform. On this evening we saw an up/coming performer, she was awesome. There were also lots of winners of the 2012SAMMIE winners also performing. What a great venue it was!

Went here for brunch on New Years day. There weren’t a lot of people, but it took a very long time to get our food. I got the eggs benedict, which had a delicious Hollandaise sauce! Oh my goodness… mmm mmm. The bf got the brisket hash, which was a major let down. The brisket consisted of dried pieces of meat mixed in with potatoes. The bf asked if he could get some more brisket added to his potatoes. The waiter apologized and said they do that sometimes. The fresh bowl of shredded brisket looked absolutely nothing like the dried pieces of brisket that were included in the first batch. Good place to go to watch games, there are lots of TVs. And they have bottomless mimosas.
