I have been forewarned by others of what to expect in California Gun Shows but I thought to it should be well worthwhile to still check it out. I did and I wasn’t very impressed. In my opinion, Crossroads should have been able to push a little bit better to have more retailers/wholesalers present relative to all the advertisements they were running on TV. Gun Prices were relatively the same as that of a normal retailer and could actually be less expensive elsewhere. It looked more like a Craft Show about guns with the majority of the exhibitors. They offered CCW classes for Utah but their prices were different than what was posted online. It looked like it was discounted if you sign up in person vs. ahead of time. They had a bunch of sellers whose prices were comparable to retail prices. I wanted to see what they had to offer on some Factory Branded mags and in my opinion, it was cheaper to go online and pay for shipping. In my opinion, it would have been cheaper to buy on EBay with the free shipping. I would have rated the event with 2-stars if it wasn’t for the ammo prices and some of the apparel exhibitors. Some of the embroidered materials were very competitively priced. Ammo? There were two major bulk ammo retailers and I really compared their prices between Factory New, Factory Reloads, and Reloads. For the majority of the handgun ammo prices, I saved a lot of $$$. In short, it was okay. $ 14 entrance, $ 10 parking, and gas getting there, I wanted to make sure I got some savings to make it well worthwhile the time and effort. Kids 12 years and younger would be free but I would bring them if I think that they can value the experience.

The add on TV shows what a gun show looked like 15 years ago … They never have more than twenty hand guns and even fewer long guns. Dont waste your money or time … Ammo is cheaper at Walmart

Ahh, I love the smell of gun shows in the morning. Smells like… ‘Murica. We went to Crossroads of the West Gun Show at Cal Expo last weekend. It was my first time at this particular one and it’s the largest gun show I’ve been to. I *was* hoping it would be held in the dual expo buildings with 2 stories, but it was held in the single room building that houses animals during county/state fair. Oh well… we still had a fun time and there was plenty of stuff to drool over. The building was filled with the sounds of tazer guns and tables selling guns(obviously), knifes, holsters and tactical accessories, personal safety equipment, old military gear, apparel, books, coins, historical memoribilia, and the random sprinkling of pretty rhinestoned accessories… you know, for the womenfolk who got dragged along.(And is there a rule somewhere that every table at a gun show must have at least 5 pieces of Nazi memoribilia? For real! Not offended, just amused.) They even had a same-day class to get your concealed carry license at the event. There were food vendors in the back corner and a few booths throughout the venue… mmm, free jerky samples! Details and Tips: — CASHONLY, so hit the bank before you get there or you’ll have to pay the service fees for the on-site ATM.(I’d assume they take card for expensive gun purchases, but you’d have to check with the vendors.) — Tickets are $ 13 each, no discounts for students/seniors. Print the $ 1 off coupon from their website beforehand. Admission seems high, IMO– for what the gun show is and the size, I’d say it’s more of a $ 10 event. — Parking is $ 10 if you park at Cal Expo. — Get there early! We were there on Sunday and by 2 – 2:30 vendors were starting to pack up.

If your looking for ammo and knives this place is good However the selection of firearms was very limited and over priced. So if your going to look at guns don’t waste your money they did not have a very good selection.

I’ve been to the Crossroads of the West Gun Show in Vallejo, but I enjoyed the one this weekend at Cal Expo more. It was large(all guns shows are!!) and had a lot more variety of non-gun products. Vendors sold snacks, jewelry, knives, BBQ sauce, etc. We love walking around the shows and this particular one we were looking at pricing for a lower or upper AR15. We ended up just buying some 9MM10-round clips(they sell larger clips with a «just for parts» warning on the cases.) We also bought a bunch of ammo. 500 rounds of 38 special and some 22 magnum rounds. Ammo is the reason we visit these shows — you can save a lot of money if you shoot a lot. This location had a $ 10 parking fee but we were already planning on being at Cal Expo for a snowboard Fest so the fee was redundant. We did each have a $ 12 entry fee though — but saved enough money on ammo to cover that cost. Plus, it was fun. Parking was easy — the employees/security out front were nice. And there was a caramel popcorn vendor on the way out with amazing, hot popcorn! If you haven’t been to a gun show before, you may want to check out one of these bigs ones. Set a couple hours aside because it will take you at least that long to look through everything.
