BEWAREOFDAVIDLANNI; he is the worst general contractor I have ever encountered. He is a big arrogant jerk; and by big, I am not referring to his height(serious Napoleon complex). Anyway, he did a huge remodel for my family that cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. You think that he would provide good customer service for that kind of fee, nope. One time, I showed up to check on the work and found him verbally berating my mom because she was asking him too many questions and he did not feel like fully explaining his process; what kind of respectable business person does this? In retrospect, I should have taken care of him at that point; if it was my decision alone then I would have fired him on the spot. Not only is his attitude terrible, so is the quality of his work. If you think I am just one disgruntled customer then I suggest you read these other reviews. There were many mistakes and shortcuts taken by Lanni in the process of my family’s remodel. 1) He did not include plans in the remodel for a house fan even though it was specified from the very beginning. This resulted in him assuring us that the house fan he added as an after thought would suffice. Wrong! The house fan barely works, it is too small and has a hard time drawing air throughout the house. It was also improperly located since he had to add it after the build was too far along. 2) His subcontractors were terrible! We’ve had a nightmarish amount of electrical problems. If you turn a fan on, some lights will flicker; if you turn additional lights on then other lights will dim or flicker. There are obvious electrical abnormalities that have yet to be fixed properly. 3) The roofing done for the back patio overhang was very shoddy. The seals around the sky lights disintegrated quickly and now there is rot that has penetrated the roofing. We had a contractor that specializes in roofing do an analysis and he concluded that the work was done incorrectly and with very cheap material which led it to leak and cause this issue. This will cost us at least $ 1,000 to remedy. 4) Our tank-less water heaters began to fail recently. We had a well recommended plumber come out and diagnose the issues. Firstly, the wrong tubing was used to connect the water heaters to the house’s plumbing. Additionally, the wrong types of vents were used when installing these units. Fixing all of this cost over $ 1,500. Now they work perfectly, go figure! 5) The central air unit leaked into our attic. The pan that was used underneath to catch runoff was the incorrect size. Repairs in relation to this issue cost well over $ 1,000. I could keep on going but I think if you have read this far then you get the point. I understand that when you remodel a house that there may be little issues that come up and need to be fixed. If there were only a few issues then I would not feel compelled to warn potential customers about David Lanni’s unscrupulous behavior. However, we are about $ 20,000 deep into fixes of Lanni’s poor work. There is no legal remedy, your options quickly expire in California not long after work is completed; otherwise I would be having this conversation with Lanni in front of a judge. He is an arrogant, mean-spirited little man. I hope that you consider getting a bid from someone WITH integrity and that cares about the quality of their work and not just screwing their customers out of as much money as possible. BEWAREOFDAVIDLANNI!

If you call David Lanni Construction first, you will save yourself calling anyone else. I’ve now had a bathroom remodel, a kitchen remodel and an addition built on my home along with small jobs around the home by DLC. This is now the only company I call. The price they quote is the price at the end of the project. They do the work like it is their own home. I’ve been very pleased that each project has been completed prior to their original time estimate.

I agree with the other reviewer. Don’t bother. We scheduled an appointment for him to look at our remodel project. He did show up but didn’t waste any time in telling us what was wrong with everything. We already knew what was wrong, we just needed someone to make it right. He took measurements and said he would get back to us with a proposal. We patiently waited but never heard back from him again. We would have understood if he didn’t want to take on the job, but he didn’t even have the courtesy to tell us. Big waste of time waiting for his bid.

Don’t even bother calling David Lanni Construction to discuss your remodel, it is a complete waste of time! We spoke to him at a home show and followed up with him a few days later to have him come take a look at our kitchen and he refused to schedule an appointment with us. He insisted on having a phone consultation to provide us a price for our remodel without knowing measurements of the space or knowing what we are looking for. He proceeded to tell me that it would be somewhere between $ 45,000 — $ 60,000 to remodel my kitchen without seeing it and when I told him we had a quote from a comparable company that had come out to see the space for $ 30,000 he got defensive and started talking to me like I was an idiot. Save yourself the frustration and leave him off your list of people to consult.
