This place is great for quick simple dim sum items ! They have fresh steamy pork and shrimp dumplings, potstickers, steamed and baked pork buns, and fried taro or sesame balls. All the basics of a great dim sum meal. The place is super bare bones and un-fancy, but they have everything you need to eat a satisfactory lunch or snack. They also have daily lunch specials like fried rice and Chinese stir fries. I didn’t try any of the specials but I saw quite a few ppl order them to go. Friendly enough service, clean, and great quick food to go. This place is a winner in my books !

I have been here a few times over the years, and I’m saddened to say it has gone down hill. Today I just tried the shrimp dumpling, because all the other dim sum was pork(and I don’t eat pork), but they were disappointing. They did not taste fresh, and had an odd crunchy ingredient — maybe jicama? that doesn’t enhance it. If the Har Gow tasted fresher I might come back to try other offerings because this is so close to home, but, for now, I’m on a quest to find tasty dim sum in Sacramento.(All of my favorites are in the bay area.)

Have been ordering from here the past few months, dim sum and main dishes. Not disappointed by one dish; always fresh and delicious. If the old owner’s food was better, as stated in a couple reviews, then he must be a helluva a cook because the new owners are doing a great job. I highly recommend the place but it is best ordered to go, the place is very small.

Something has changed here. Baked bao is burned in the bottom with virtually no filling — sesame balls and other fried items are cold and taste day old. The custard tart has zero flavor. Cheap is cheap, I guess. Too cheap.

This place is okay. Came here today to try a different dim sum spot with the boyfriend. We ordered har gow, potstickers, taro puffs, and steamed bbq pork buns. Their har gow weren’t bad, I prefer the skin to be a bit thinner but that’s my preference. Their potstickers and taro puffs I could’ve done without. Was craving them so I decided to order it. The potstickers are huge for one, and second, it just felt overstuffed. Not a bad ratio of meat to veggies but I prefer smaller potstickers where it isn’t so stuffed. Taro puffs were a miss. For starters the breading isn’t light and fluffy like you expect it to be. It’s fairly oily tasting without the crispy exterior. The filling was okay, nothing to rave about. My boyfriend said the steamed bbq pork bun was pretty good. Might come back here for their buns if I’m not going to Lam Kwong. This place can get the dim sum fix over if you’re in the area and in a hurry but I’d recommend somewhere else if you have a little more time to spare.

This is the last time I go here for dimsum to go. Food tastes blan. The pineapple custard bun tasted like dirt. No custard. Shrimp dumpling was horrible. Just a horrible place to go for dim sum. Go to new canton instead. At least the food taste better

This place is very good. The place is a little small, but the food is very delicious. Try the chicken chow mein. It’s the best chow mein! Better than Panda Express. Literally, it’s so soft and it’s not as dry as the one in Panda. That’s the only thing I get each time I come. It’s so worth it. I only paid like $ 6 for a large to go box. Definitely will always come in the future.

How have I lived in Curtis Park for almost a year and am just NOW realizing the greatness of Dim Sum House? Literally across our street, they’ve been one of the best soup-alternative hangover cures around, and not to mention CHEAP! I’ll be the first to admit, the place looks almost abandoned and that’s probably why I never really looked twice. But step foot in this humble abode and the aroma of fresh dim sum will have you instantly hooked. It’s a shame they couldn’t have more selection(shrimp balls, cheung fun), but as long they keep the pork siu mai comin’ I’m content. Prepare to be satisfied on a budget. Solid 4 stars for this quick and easy neighborhood eat.

This used to by my favorite place for dim sum in Sacramento. I’d been coming here for years, loved the food and the older couple that ran the place. It was always nice to catch up with them, ask after their kids and where their next vacation was going to be. They recently started a much deserved retirement. They said that they would share their recipes and teach the new owners how to make everything. When they were still coming in, things tasted basically the same, but now that they are gone, the food is just not on par with what I expect. It’s not that the flavors are different, their just not that good. Some of them are barely filled, overly fried, etc etc. When I ordered chow mein the other day, it was hardly edible. It’s not nearly as busy as it was, and they don’t seem to be making as much as their used to be, selling out much earlier in the day. I will be on the hunt for a new favorite place, but I doubt I will frequent Dim Sum House as often as I used to.

I loved this place for a long time when the older couple that had run it for years rannit. the food was authentic, and felt like eating out of a family kitchen, When they told me they were going to retire and sell the place, I was understandably saddened, but assured that they were planning on training the new owners and passing on their recipes and methods. After visiting after the complete changeover, I am not so impressed. they are still good, but different, and I will not be frequenting them weekly as I did. Good thing I live out by ABC Bakery in the south area. My new favorite Dim Sum to go house

Walked in there for the first time a couple of nights ago. We usually do New Canton just down the street but wanted to try something different. HUGEMISTAKE!!! There was a «Conditional Pass» health certificate in the window; wondered why but quickly figured it out when we got in there. The place totally stank like last week’s trash… guessing that they had some«issues» that were resolved but maybe falling back on old ways? Turned around and walked out. A place that smells that bad needs to be shut down as it was totally disguisting.

I just want to say that even though the original owners retired, this place is still AMAZING and THEBEST, also cheap. Their fried dumplings are my favorite, but I love everything they have almost equally.

Located a block away from one of my favorite dim sum houses, New Canton, Dim Sum House specializes in dim sum and Chinese food fast food style. Dim sum costs .65 cents a piece which is pretty cheap. DSH also serves up traditional Chinese food with noodles, soup, rice plates and entrees. Entrees run about $ 7. I ordered 24 pieces of dim sum and the bill came to $ 20. My order consisted of baked BBQ pork buns, egg custard tarts, sui mei, hargow, gee fun and a deep fried dim sum. The deep fried piece was hands down the best with the hargow second. The sui mei was blah with a weird crunch because they put water chestnuts in the meat mix. The baked pork bun was okay and the custards lacked enough sweetness. The gee fun was okay, tasted like how my Mom made them when I was little, but she wasn’t very good at making them either LOL. If you don’t feel like going to a sit down dim sum house this place will do in a pinch, but you get what you pay for and DSH specializes in cheap: P The regular food looked good in pictures so I might try some next time round.

Sad that there are new owners. The previous owners were great. The older gentleman in the back was an amazing cook. All the food was great. My last visit I walked in and realized the previous owner were no longer there. I just figured maybe the family took over for the day. Come to learn that the previous owners are no longer there and cooking is a sad day for me and many. I order some dim sum and chow fun. The dim sum tasted the similar but not the same. The potstickers just weren’t quite the same flavor as before though. The hamm su gook was close but again missing something. The chow fun was no where near as good as before. I could barely eat it. There was no flavor and it wasn’t cooked well. I hope the new owners ask the older gentleman(previous owner) how to cook because my last visit really turned me off from what was my go to spot for quick dim sum and chinese food.

Walking in for lunch I was disappointed not to see«Mom» at the counter, but no biggie… Sometimes she’s in the back helping«Pop.» I peeked into the kitchen and didn’t see them there, either. Instead I saw a group of younger people. That’s when I realized the shrine in the dining area was gone. Dim Sum House has new owners. I was sorry not to have been able to say goodbye to «Mom» and wish her a happy retirement. That didn’t stop me from wanting dim sum, though. It was kind of crowded which I didn’t think much about since it’s a semi-popular little place. The ladies at the counter were polite and friendly. I got a few pieces of dim sum and an order of chicken chow fun. I ate my ham gok and bao while I waited for the noodles. It was just as good as before which was a relief. I could keep my «go to» dim sum place. So I waited for the noodles… and waited… and waited. Whoa, no wonder it was so crowded. Anyone ordering more than dim sum was standing around looking bored, impatient or confused and all hungry. After half an hour I finally got my chow fun — complete with apologies for the wait. I wish I could say it was worth it. Chow fun is by no means a fancy, complex dish. It’s simple the way lo mein is, only with big fat noodles. What I got was simple, yes, but rather on the bland side and almost no chicken. It was quite a let down. I’ll still come back for the dim sum — which is why I go in the first place, but probably will skip the other dishes from now on.

Changed owner but sometimes I see the original owners there helping out. Dim sum items taste the same. I ordered black bean chow fun and unfortunately that wasn’t the same. :/it’s okay though just one item I won’t be ordering again. Seems like they extended their menu. Can’t wait to try the rest of their food. Oh and their steam char Sui bao(pork bun) has chunks of char sui in there and a good amount of it too. They don’t skimp on the meat. That’s a plus for me. I don’t like it when you can’t make out what’s inside because it has the texture of paste. Lol

My only complaint about this place is that it isn’t open every hour of every day. I only ever get dim sum to go from the counter here so I can’t speak for the whole menu but their dim sum is incredible. The steamed buns are the perfect texture and their pork and shrimp dumplings are also delicious. The food is the kind of good that comforts you and the service is always friendly. Also, it’s super cheap! If you’re looking for a dim sum spot you can drop by any time you have a craving, this place is perfect.

Cool little hole in the wall. Nothing flashy. The dumplings are very fresh and very tasty. I havent had Bao in years the they did not disappoint! But the foil warp chicken… not so much. Get here early before the variety sells out!

Little hole in the wall Chinese place. Various dim sum on hand, as well as your typical hot dishes. I had a sesame chicken type dish with fried rice. It was okay, nothing super duper yummy, but it did its job in filling me up. Portions are huge. Prices aren’t bad, for $ 10 I had chicken and fried rice, two siu Mai, two hai gow and two steamed pork bao. Right next to my work, so its convenient, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here.
