Eh. Was just okay when is it was open(dug their salmon teriyaki bento lunch). This joint has been closed for a good six months, or more. Can we get an update, please? According the latest signage, this place will re-open as «the press». Sounds like another wine bar, smack dab in the midst of L Wine Lounge, The Grand, 58 Degrees & Holding, and some other establishments with fine wine lists(Mulvaney’s, Waterboy, and Aioli… yeah they own The Grand too). Damn — I was really hoping for some Mongolian BBQ in the midtown area. Yo, Unilocal … When are you gonna get it together and finally label this location as CLOSED?

Don’t bother eating here. They changed their menu, but couldn’t be bothered to update their website. What was once Spring Rolls is now a cheeseburger. In fact just pretend this restaurant doesn’t even exist, as it’s only a matter of time before it shuts down. Instead, head across the street to Paesano’s Pizzeria. Where the staff is knowledgeable about the menu and they actually GIVE A DAMN.

Back in Janurary 2008 I pasted this place for a pletheroa of reasons. and belive you me I certainly wasn’t ever going to come here again but my nagging friends refused to accept Unilocal and my harsh critcisims of this place on the merrit this dump has lechee-tini’s Well yah know what. they were out of it so what a waste. Once again service was horrendous. I just had to delete a bunch of colorful words. but lets just sum it up with it took an hour for our food to arrive for a party of 4. when there was only 2 other groups in the resturant. 1 a table of 4, the other a table of 2. so a total of 10 people in the resturant. I’d hate to see what this place looks like busy. The waitress had the audacity to rather be eating than coming to check up on our drink/food orders. Oh i’m sorry we must be interupting you face stuffing. put the chopstick DOWN… and do your damn job. I’d hate to imagine what would have happened if we elected to sit outside. We were waiting at the podium for a seat for a good 20 minutes before anyone bothered to come seat us in an empty resturant. we had to make sure to sit inside because we knew after that it was going to be terrible… It was bad enough she got a 10% tip we shoulda short changed her for the piss poor service. Food quality was meh, my 911 roll was overdone and parts of it were too hard to eat. hockey puck anyone? the fish on the terminator roll was noticeably not fresh but it wasn’t expired either. but once again full price = epic phail. happy hour = do yourself a favor and go across the street to paesano’s

Eating sushi off of naked girls? FIVESTARS! Oh wait, rewind. I didn’t get to do that. –_– That was when I first heard of Dragonfly about a year ago. I wanted to give it a try but being in San Diego for the majority of the year made it hard. This is why I was excited when my girlfriend decided to have her birthday dinner here! Driving down the streets of downtown sacramento on a Friday night, everything was pretty festive! Everything but Dragonfly. We drove past a corner restaurant, thinking it was Dragonfly and got excited because it was pretty crackin’! Then we continued driving and saw the tiny, empty place they call Dragonfly. I went in thinking«can’t be that bad». It was. I ordered the 911 Roll, which was on the ½ off sushi list so it was only $ 5.50! That’s a plus. Fortunately, my roll was one of the better ones. UNFORTUNATELY, it probably tasted decent because we were starving from the wait! We entered the restaurant at 9 and the food didn’t come out until about 10:20. Although we had a party of about 20, there were only 2 other couples dining so it shouldn’t have taken an hour to prepare the food! My guy friend ordered a special salad dish and the waitress decided to wait until about 45 minutes later to tell him that they were out of it. My two other girlfriends ordered Barbecue Albacore, which came out in three tiny pieces and only one of them got a bowl of rice. ANDYET, ANOTHER girlfriend ordered the Hawaii Roll(also off the ½ sushi list), which is just the California Roll with tobiko sauce instead of their«special sauce» for a dollar more –_– And what’s worse, there was no sauce to be seen on the actual roll! Another positive about Dragonfly is that they’re able to split the check so it was split about 6 ways. It took forever to come out but when it did, my friend’s tab had an extra roll charged that she never ordered. That took about another 15 minutes to take care of. I should have read the reviews, all the one star reviews are basically exactly what I experienced. Sorry Dragonfly, I hate writing negative reviews but never again.

I went to Dragonfly on a Thursday night and it was pretty dead. In fact, at one time during the time my friends and I were there– we we’re the only ones in the restaurant! –It didnt help that Dragonfly was next to 2 other restaurants that were pretty bustling. The Food: my girlfriends and I ordered 2 sushi rolls– the«Dragonfly» roll and one with mango(sorry– i forgot the name!) The mango roll was surprisingly good and refreshing. We also got a shared plate of seared scallops with potato purée which included a few spears of asparagus; and also a house salad. The food was pretty good– as someone who eats a good amount of sushi I felt that Dragonfly overstuffed their rolls. There was just so many ingredients that it took a lot of the flavors away from each other. In total our order came to about $ 48. I hope this place picks up during the weekend– it has definite potential!

Okay, so I’ve gone to DragonFly in the past, but wasn’t a Unilocaler then. I recall the food and prices being pretty good. However, I went there last evening for dinner with my girlfriend and it was just poor. I’d have given it a more mixed review, but there were a three not so goods that in combination make it bad: not so good service, not so good food, and overpriced for what I got. The Thai chicken noodles had not a hint of Thai flavor and the noodles were smothered in some sort of sauce akin to a mayonnaise sauce for honey walnut prawns which made it way too sticky. The Korean BBQ Short Ribs(shared plate) came with… count’em… ONE small rib for how much you ask? $ 17.00! Supposed to come with jasmine rice, but didn’t. The sushi rolls, although good; were probably ½ the size of other places. Long story short; sorry to see that DragonFly has gone downhill so much.

I was so hungry, I’m surprised I didn’t love this place. I thought I’d eat nearly anything. I phoned in a takeout order since I wanted to be lazy & eat in my robe & enjoy the free Wi-Fi for Dexter in my nearby b&b room. When my food was delivered, I found the udon soup I ordered to actually be miso(yes, I know the difference) with some noodles & mushrooms thrown in. I don’t do raw nigiri for takeout, so I opted for cooked rolls & the special sauce on one(Fusion Roll) was some milk-based-ranch dressing-like EW… The more I try to describe that sauce, I’m scared & nearly gagging. Whatever it was, it certainly did not belong on a roll no matter how Americanized. No Dragonfly for me again. No exceptions.

Picture this: mini clear keg cups with your cocktail of choice at practically $ 10 a pop. I thought I got my vodka soda with a twist in this ridiculously creepy cup because it was Halloween and since Halloween can get a little rowdy, I was OK with it. Heck this is a nice place and there were all these people running around bumping into me and dancing dancing dancing all night long. So plastic seemed to be reasonable until I reviewed other reviews… this is apparently status quo every Saturday night when they turn the restaurant into a club. STRANGE… I didn’t even get creepy plastic mini cups when I went to Chico State for crying out loud?! Here’s the thing… these plastic things would have been OK if I was in a dive bar, but not a nice place like the Dragonfly. Other than that it looks like a cool place and maybe someday if I ever make it back to downtown Sacramento I’ll test out the food.

I do have to say this place is good if you are with friends sitting on the patio enjoying mango mojito’s and having a few appetizers but dinner is a different story. We wanted sushi last night and went to Mukuni’s but it was an 1 ½ so we left in search of sushi close by and ended up here. It seemed like everything we ordered was just made — cucumber salad that was just cucumbers with some rice vinegar sprinkled on top, edamane with barely any salt and piping hot and miso soup that had tofu that had not soaked up any of the flavor(I think they just cut it up and threw in the tofu right before they brought it out). There is no traditional sushi here — all of it is cooked in some way or the other. We did get a roll that was deep-fried(California roll) — it was not that great. I prefer some of my sushi raw! The spider roll was so large you could not eve fit it in your mouth — it just fell apart when you tried to pick it up. We ordered 5 rolls total and none of them were very memorable. Later in the meal four people were seated at the table next to us — 3 of them ended up ordering cheeseburgers and one of them got a roll! They must have had the the rolls at a prior visit and had the right idea! I think I will just stick to this place for the drinks.

Been here for lunch two times with fellow state workers. The place is open and airy, nice décor, feels like it is trying hard to make it with the Capitol lunch and dinner crowd. The best part is that they have a very Interesting menu — many choices of Asian and American dishes — Asian tapas, sushi rolls and nigiri, noodle dishes, sandwiches and Bento boxes — this restaurant has something for everyone. The downside is that the food doesn’t have that«composed by a chef» taste or look — more of a «plate full of food» thing. Just not super exciting. There’s a bar with a good beer and wine selection — they advertise a monthly wine tasting event called«Art of Wine» if that is your thing. The prices are medium to a bit high, but not a bad value for the variety and quality. The food quantity was okay, but not generous. The people I ate with and I all liked it — the buzz around work is that we will be going back for sure. Sorry to read the bad reviews on the service — my experience was very good both times.

Spicy, crispy-shelled, flavor-dance on your tongue, deep taste experience samosas are no more. Voted«best samosas» by News & Review in years past, these tasty tidbits have been sent to their grave, no longer to be served at Dragonfly. Rest in peace. They still do, however, offer a sushi roll of which I am fond. Their«mango madness» comes served with tuna, mango, and candied walnuts. This salty-sweet combo melts in your mouth, giving you two favorite flavors in one roll. It’s like candy plus dinner – always a winning combination! I also enjoy their grilled tofu skewers appetizer with firm, nutty tofu and a bright peanut dipping sauce. The spicy tuna roll offers another mouth adventure worthy of the mellow flame it provides. Overall, their food is fair. Yet their prices can’t be beat – they always offer specials on appetizers, drinks, and rolls. Their drink menu is fun – mango mojitos and other fruity concoctions slide down nicely, especially when the weather allows for patio dining. Don’t give up on this spot yet. Although I may not forgive them for removing my favorite samosas from their menu, it’s still a fun place to eat some bargain-priced sushi(when they are offering specials, of course).
