Globe Mills

The manager, Tina, and the front desk lady have been nothing but disappointing to work with. If and when they decide to answer the phone, they are usually annoyed and very rude. I’m glad I didn’t move here!

Globe Mills is a very interesting apartment complex and I give them credit for trying to uplift an area that needs more development. The amenities are great and you will find some of the most unique architecture in all of Sacramento. I was very impressed and lived in a studio for a little over a year. Living on the 5^th floor, I had amazing views of downtown and a front seat to the fireworks at Raley Field.
Now, why 1 star?
When I first moved in, Sondra was the manager of the building. Sondra was very professional and proactive with all of her work. When repairs were needed, she made sure that paperwork was filled out, the work was completed and the tenant was fully satisfied. Around May 2014, Sondra left and a different manager was hired in which the quality at Globe Mills sunk. Work requests went unnoticed and security seemed to have been dropped. Multiple tenants were using drugs in the apartments and it was prevalent in the hallways but nothing was being done. I saw the degradation of quality and decided to move out…
BUT it didn’t stop there!
Tina (new manager) scheduled a walk through on labor day and confirmed that she would be there and did not show up. Not wanting to pay extra rent, I left my keys and officially moved out. I ended up having to call and remind them to check the apartment, pick up my keys and process the security deposit. It has currently been about 49 days since I moved out and I still have not received my security deposit… (CA state law is 21 days) After having to call the corporate office, they are now processing my deposit…
The worst thing of this entire ordeal is that no one is taking responsibility!
The apartment is unique but as a renter I strongly advise that you look elsewhere. The level of service is 1 star worthy and when you live in an apartment with certain limitations as a tenant, you need professional service and managers. Globe Mills does not offer this at all

I’ve lived here for about three years and I’ve only decided to move out for a two bedroom apartment instead of a studio… I’ve loved living here, and people watching the colorful characters that roam around the streets. Though it’s not the best of areas, I’ve noticed that Sacramento is trying to update and rebuild around here. I’ve never experienced it, but I know that some sketchy situations have gone down outside our gates…
The exposed concrete walls, new granite counter tops and super high ceilings make my 550sf apartment feel a lot bigger and open than it actually is. Keeps cool in the scorching sac summers, not so cozy in the winter, but I like it a bit colder anyway.
The neighbors have all been great; until recently, someone moved in above me and plays really bad music with the bass up too loud that I can feel it pounding in my head. :(but management has been on it, and I don’t see them staying here too much longer.
If you’re an artist, like me, you’ll love this place! Even if you’re not but want something urban, grungy, New York style… Def check it out here. After this weekend there’ll be one more apartment available.

I’ve lived here for about three years now, and love it. Yes the neighborhood is sketchy at times, but I’ve never had any problems and kind of enjoy the colorful characters I see hanging around. I’m also a male in his late 20’s, so maybe if my perspective was different my opinion would be too. Management is nice and the building is beautiful and so are the units. I’ve actually lived in two different units during my 3 year tenor at Globe Mills, a one bedroom unit and currently, a loft style unit. Much cooler and with more character than the run of the mill apartment building. They all have exposed concrete walls and floors, high ceilings and long windows but each floor plan is slightly unique. You’ve seen that movie, about the struggling actor living in New York, the one that makes you wonder how they afford that cool industrial studio or loft apartment, think that. If you are curious about what Globe Mills looks like on the inside head down to the leasing office and talk to Sandra, she’ll hook you up with a tour. I plan for Globe Mills to be the last place I rent, If I move it will only be because I purchase a home.

Hands down one of the best living experiences ever. I’ve lived all over California, on the east coast and internationally and no other building or staff has compared to Globe Mills! They are extremely accommodating, friendly, approachable and welcoming. I lived here after I graduated from UC Davis while working in Sacramento and I miss it so much! Very convenient location, near restaurants, bakeries, parks, freeways, etc. Super safe, I walked around with my dog at night all the time and never had any issues. They also have a 24 hr security guard which is reassuring. The gym is well maintained and convenient in the winter when it’s too cold to run outside! The staff organizes holiday dinners and it really feels like a community w/​in the building. I can’t say enough good things about this place, definitely check it out, you’ll love it! And have you seen the lofts?! Incredible! I wish Sondra could be the property manager everywhere I lived!

The beautiful building and the tenants do not match here.
There are street addicts, drug dealers and postitutes living in or entering the buildings at all hours.
The corporation did not properly budget for security. As a result, many innocent older people live in fear.
It is hard to find online police reports for the neighborhood because, as a redevelopment project, the public is not made aware of the serious problems. If they did, they would be scared away.
If you or anyone you know is considering Globe Mills as a place to rent — either the senior of lofts, I recommend you first visit the neighborhood police precinct and demand to see public records.

I lived for a little over a year in a studio loft at Globe Mills. It was fantastic, from the wonderful staff, to the caring management and owners, to the lofts themselves. They are easy to take care of and efficient to live in, as well as beautiful and well maintained. The grounds are very well cared for, parking is safe and secure, entertainment is even provided and the Christmas party, (the mayor attended.) There are computers, a workout room, great laundry facility and much more. Walking distance to everything. I highly recommend The Lofts at Globe Mills.
