The best thing about Los Jarritos is the price. This is an old school spot with plenty of options and low low prices. They are a great alternative to the Taco Bell a block away, eat local and fresh, people!!! The food is average. Typical Cali-Mex stuff. Nice salsa bar, although they are tight with the chips and salsa, probably because too many people come in and try to have a meal of free salsa bar nachos. The purpose of Los Jarritos is cheap, easy and quick, not to wow you with anything good. The staff is very easy to confuse. I have gotten the wrong order here several times. Strange. Small selection of pastries, frozen treats and candy-type-things.

WTH are they using in the chicken tacos? I have been eating chicken tacos here forever and i am not sure what’s going on in the kitchen nor do i want to find out.

Disappointed in my latest visit to Los Jarritos. I have always loved this place, I mean, where else can you find tacos these days for $ 1.50? Went there yesterday and ordered a chicken taco and cheese enchilada. The salsa was lackluster as was the taco. No flavor whatsoever. Maybe they were just having a bad day? I’ll be back to try again since I’ve had many good experiences there also.

Food: — I had the Chimichanga with carne asada and it also came with rice and beans. Rice and beans were both flavorful and the beans were neither too bland or too watery. Chimichanga tasted good with the sauce and cheese on top of it and it was stuffed with meat, which was nice. The portion size is a little smaller but the meal overall was still good and filling. I had to save half of it. — I liked trying the different dips and salsas at the salsa bar with my free chips too. Ambience: — Clean tables, interior reminds me of a stylish old school diner. Would I come back? — I’ve had better Mexican food but I like Los Jarritos for the value. Food is good for the cheaper prices compared to other Mexican restaurants. It’s not my go-to place but definitely if I want a good Mexican food dinner on a budget on Broadway.

I highly recommend the tacos, tostadas, tamales and super burritos! I usually go for the chicken tostadas or the 3 pack chicken tacos. The combo meals are very budget friendly.

I’ve had a lot of Mexican food through out my life some taste different then others it all depends on the chefs recipe but non the less this is the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had. I ordered a green sauce enchilada and they wrapped chicken in a corn tortilla and drenched it in green sauce, not enchilada sauce but the green sauce they have at there salsa bar. The chicken was unbelievable dry and my friend ordered carnitas tacos it was all a mess. I’m such an easy going person and usually can fix Mexican food with a little extra sauce maybe a dash of salt but the food was so far gone. There was a lot of elderly at the time of my arrival so I felt bad that this stuff was being served.

I used to order take out here frequently when I worked nearby about 10 years ago… it’s been awhile. Had a craving for the shredded beef tacos and horchata so asked my husband if he could stop by and pick up food for me on his way home from work. I called in my order 15 minutes before he got off work and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes, perfect. However, when my husband arrived, food was not ready and had to wait 25 minutes for 3 beef tacos, really?! He says it doesn’t seem like they started making my order until he came in and paid. It was really an inconvenience for my husband and to top it off the food made me sick. This place is not what I remembered it to be and I definitely will be staying away.

Really good place to eat, high quality and cheap food. Sometimes the wait is long so if you’re in a hurry and it’s a peak time you will probably want to go someplace quicker.

After our last visit, we haven’t been back and prob won’t be back. We used to go almost every week but started to notice little things like never having chips out even after we asked for them. Also a couple times it took to long for them to bring out food. People who ordered long after us got their food ahead of us so finally after 30+ minutes hubby asks about our food and young lady working says, without checking w/the kitchen, it should only be a few more minutes. 10 minutes later the same girl is delivering food to like the 10th table that came in after us and she glances our way, I tried to talk w/her and she ran into the kitchen and stayed there another 5 minutes until she exited w/our food. So ok, the kitchen didn’t get our order, maybe if you would have Checked w/the kitchen when we asked, it would have come out sooner. Just admit it, apologize & hustle to get it. This has happened more than once so that, along w/price increase of at least an extra $, for all our fav dishes means we’re going elsewhere.

The food was soggy due to it taking 30 mins for fish tacos to arrive. I had to ask where my food was. The place was clean, but I’m my opinion it was over staffed. Why was the kitchen not over staffed who knows. I speak English and yet two of the waitress spoke Spanish to as if I didn’t understand what they were already saying. Not returning at all. Fish tacos were over cooked in there battered :/ Now looking for a new fish taco place in downtown Sacramento… Any body have suggestions???

I have not been here for a few months, and in the mean time they raised the price from $ 5.79 for the combo to $ 6.80:-(I’m very disappointed as it is now on par with other Mexican restaurants. I don’t mind a small increase over time, but $ 1 is too much. Also, they had no chips as they ran out. A Mexican restaurant should always have chips to go with the salsa:-(

Call in a takeout order for a carnitas burrito for breakfast, lunch, or dinner — so very delicious, filling, and under $ 5. Douse with delicious red salsa. Repeat daily.

I have to update my review as to not disappoint Unilocalers. Although I continue to eat here periodically, there are some reasons for lowering my review. My $ 3 burrito is not longer $ 3. Their tortillas are thick and sort of dry sometimes. I ordered outside of my normal veggi burrito for one with meat and was not impressed. They still have been faithfully making some of the best salsa in Sacramento for years. They still have great prices overall.

Convenience pays here. They get crazy busy during lunch, which is fine, because even so, you won’t wait too long for your food. It’s pretty cheap, lots to be offer, combo meals are popular and cheaper than some of the ones at Taco Bell. Only had a handful of menu offering, I tend to favor the three taco deal or any combo plate with an enchilada. It’s not the best, but the price point is a factor in me dining here. It’s still edible and hell, I ain’t picky. Chips aren’t my favorite, but the salsa is good. 25¢ for an extra serving, be honest folks! They make their own fruit bars, which is fantastic(I love strawberries and cream) and a great dessert to munch on while walking back to the office.

This is our favorite restaurant for Mexican food. It is a family business where the quality of food and service is consistent. If you are super hungry, the Super burritos are never disappointing. If you are merely ravenous, then the rice and bean dishes will more than satisfy you. The first basket of tortilla chips is free but after, they are .25 cents. The chips may actually be my least favorite item because they are usually too hard – but there are days when they ARE just right. But pick and choose your chip days. Try the Chile relleno with rice and beans. It’s cheesy, divine goodness. Their horchata is also pretty good.

Yup I gave them four stars!!! Sure did… For value if nothing else. I’ve been eating here for more than 15 years and I love love the chicken tacos. Not a typo on the double love. Best all around value as my recent stop I got three a la carte tacos OTD for $ 4 bucks. All you can drink water with a side of chips and a descent salsa bar! Shame on any person who goes next door to Taco Bell! This family also owns Esperanza. They’ve always employed youth and for as long as I can remember the line reaches outside past the entry door at its busy peak time for lunch. Tables turn quick here. I love seeing the Helados made here! Fresca is my favorite!

I use to come to this place 20 years ago for Pazole. We came in today ordered chicken nachos and chorizo and egg plate. First came chorizo and egg plate oh boy we loved it everything on that plate was great!!! Then came the Nachos so disappointed it was huge but they have shredded chicken and Nacho Cheese that’s not good. I know we personally think Mexican Restaurants should not! serve nacho cheese I can get that at the ball park with chips. But if in area would come back cause she liked the beans and rice and chorizo.

Los Jarritos is a solid cheap-ish Mexican food option if you’re in the Broadway area. The food is consistently good. The dishes I have had there so far– quesadillas, chorizo con huevos, huevos rancheros– have all tasted great. I like their salsa bar with all the different options(when they have chips available to use the aforementioned salsa with) and I like that they’re within walking distance of my place. Plus the abuelita at the counter is always super nice to us. I have no complaints with Los Jarritos, they’re just not very memorable to me. They don’t have any of those«OMG, I am craving this so bad!» plates that make me want to come back. But check them out… maybe my «A-OK» will turn out to be your«Woohoo! As good as it gets!»

So I walk past this place all the time since it is next door to New Canton, well I finally decided to give it a try. The place is pretty big for a taco joint with a few televisions to keep you entertained as well. I ordered a the following items: Carnitas, egg and potato burrito $ 3.50? Fat tasty breakfast burrito, next time I will ask for cheese and sour cream though as it was a little dry Carne Asada Taco $ 2? Decent Crunchy taco Fish Taco $ 3? not so good dry chunks of fish Overall this place had a great breakfast burrito, but the tacos were just okay. This place will do in a pinch, but Oscar’s isn’t too far away :)

I’ve been here quite a few times and have tried several different things. Their tacos shells are deep fried but good and instead of diced tomatoes they put a slice of tomato on the tacos. I’ve gotten the shredded chicken taco several times and it’s good everytime. It’s not the best but def up there. Their burritos are good, I’ve had a couple different ones and can’t complain. I get the bean/cheese with extra sour cream everytime. And they def do not skimp out on the extra sour cream like other places. The chicken enchiladas with the green sauce were on point!!! Verde sauce had the spicy kick it’s supposed to, not like other places where there’s no spice to it. I call in my order everytime, the reason why they don’t get 5 stars is because everytime I call in, it’s either no ready when I come in 10m past the 15m ETA or they don’t take down my name and are looking for my order. Hands down in my top 3 for Mexican Restaurants.
