«I’M ON A BOAT. I GOTMYFLIPPY-FLOPPIES…» THESIT-REP(Situation Report) Sacramento is lucky to be at the juncture of two rivers: the American River and the Sacramento River. Being«River City», it takes advantage of the natural lay of the land — or the WATERWAYS, as the case may be — to let local residents experience the beauty of a riverboat cruise. The MATTHEW McKINLEY is a Victorian era reproduction Steamer Paddle-Wheel Boat named after an actual historical predecessor that once patrolled up and down the MISSISSIPPIRIVER in style — floating gambling ships of their day. Today, this boat boasts a wonderful sightseeing, dining, and DJ-dancing experience(depending on the package that is procured prior to launch. THESET-UP For this group of post-work government workers, the Happy Hour Riverboat cruise ran a couple of hours, and you and your party(aka your group!) had to make sure we were at the LANDINGRAMP to the boat ONTIME(if you want to make it to the PARTY(aka good time!). There is an assortment of munchies you can pre-select and have on the menu for a wonderful 2-hour cruise up and down the Sacramento River. And it would go without saying that the cruise is decidedly more comfortable during warmer weather. However, the view of the cityscape from the waterway is always a breath-taking experience and there is something to be said about a serene boat trip that reminds one of a bygone era when pleasure trips and commerce relied so much more on this«old school» style of transportation. THELOWDOWN If you always wanted to try«a boat» experience, but had a reticence to go on a smaller fishing or ski boat, but couldn’t afford the bigger 3 – 7 day Carnival or Princess line cruises, then YOURBOATHASARRIVED!
