I was riding my bike today through midtown and the pedal became loose. I was panicking because I wasn’t able to ride fast and I assumed I’d have to walk my bike back home (W.Sac). I hoped on Unilocal to find a bike shop and came across this one.
First, I didn’t buy anything from here so this is just a customer service related review.
I walked in and asked if they had the tool to fix my bike. without hesitation, the front person was happy to help me. I just want to say, companies such as this exude extreme alliances with their patrons and I will be coming back here in the future. This small act of kindness has won my long term patronage.

Every time I come here for tubes, a helmet, or in this instance, a minor repair, I am always well taken care of! I had my frame bent in an accident, and I was able to straighten it myself with a come-​along and creative use of slings and the trees in my back yard, but I took the rear brake off in order to complete the frame repair. I then had to abandon the re-​assembly for a while. I am pretty mechanically inclined, but I forgot the blind nut had an allen-​set, so I took it in for their help. The young and very polite mechanic (his name escapes me at the moment) took good care of me, and I was out of there in no time. Whether I need components or hopefully a new high-​end bike someday, there the people I’ll go see!

Great store and friendly people. I hadn’t ridden a bicycle in 15 years or so and after leaving the store with my new purchase, I feel confident and comfortable and am looking forward to my biking adventure.
You definitely get more than just a bike, you get value. The knowledge and experience here was more than I thought I could get at a bike shop. I was happy that Sam took the time to educate me and really open my eyes to the world of bicycles.

Wayne, the head of the mechanics knows just about everything there is to know about bikes. In fact, he actually suggested I not to work on my bike. Smart move Wayne. It would just make your life more difficult!

This place is awesome. I recently had them tune up my road bike and I purchased a new set of tires that they put on during the tune up. I got the bike home and took it for a spin and the new tires were rubbing on the rear brake assembly just enough to make it sound like a choo choo train (funny, but highly accurate). I called them up and talked to Wayne who told me no problem at all — bring it in and they would make it right. My wife took it in and they immediately replaced both tires with a better size that totally fixed the problem. They even helped her take the bike out to the car and disassemble it so it would fit in the trunk.
Thanks Mike’s Bikes for being awesome and taking care of me (and my wife) in a super friendly and professional manner. You’ve earned a customer for life!

Good place to shop for your bicycle needs, they have a good selection of choices from your mid range to high end bicycle. Plenty of bicycle accessories and best of all they price match :)
Service has always been friendly and helpful.

Great service and friendly staff. They were pretty booked when I brought my bike in for service to get my chain and derailers cleaned. They also checked my brakes which were not in line with my tires. When I picked up my bike, it rode like a beauty.

I visited this location a few years after my initial (crappy) review and I gotta say, I’ve received a completely different level of service. Anthony V helped me with my bike and he’s very friendly and helpful!

there is no discrimination in regards to age or gender in how you are treated. thank you to all of the excellent staff and today to the technician in repairs who was so helpful.

Disappointing. Was told by two employees I could trade in my bike for store credit. After an inspection, I was quoted $ 100 a few minutes before a third employee told me they wouldn’t offer anything.
I was going to buy a new bike, helmet, lights, gloves, and messenger bag but am no longer comfortable doing business there. The staff probably cost its store $ 1000 in sales from me today.

I’ve been mountain biking for over 20 years & usually always do all my own work on all of my bikes.
Recently I had a shop do some work that didn’t turn out quite right, I was reluctant to have the same shop correct the work so called Mikes Bikes on I st. & explained my situation. I spoke with Wayne, the service manager, and he understood my problem & was familiar with my bike.
I dropped off the bike & meet with Wayne in person. He was very polite and seemed concerned about the issues I was having.
After a couple of days Wayne called me with an update. Parts had been ordered and the repairs were on schedule.
When I picked up my bike it was LIKE NEW! This was a bike that I didn’t even want to ride anymore with the issues it was having. Now I cant stop riding it!
Any future repairs or new bike purchases will be made at Mikes Bikes in Downtown Sacramento.

I just stopped in tonight to drop off my bike for some service, and I was reminded of why this is the best bike shop I’ve been to in 30 years of riding. After a year of being their customer it’s time for a long overdue review!
Every person in this place is friendly and willing to help, without putting any pressure on you at all when it come time to buy. If they don’t have something you need, they get it for you… fast. The service people are knowledgeable, patient, and take the time to explain everything to you without making you feel ignorant, unlike a few other shops in town. Their work is top-​notch. And of course, they have a huge selection of kick ass bikes, parts, accessories, and clothing.
As far as tonight’s visit, they stamped my service receipt with a 25% off one item of clothing discount (don’t know why, but who cares?!). I happened to need some gloves and I didn’t expect the discount to apply, and it didnt, but these awesome people hooked me up anyway. I walked out with gloves, a pedal tool, the knowledge that my bike was in good hands, and a smile on my face. Any business could learn a lesson in customer service from Mike’s Bikes.
Maybe the best part of all was that they had a Radiohead album playing in the store. I’ll keep coming back, for sure!

I been to every bike shop in Sacramento and surrounding areas looking at bikes and asking questions trying to learn as much as I can. Each time learning a little more. This was my last shop to visit. I was approached by David who was very helpful. He spent a few minutes with me explaining a little more to me about what I need and what to look for in a bike. He gave me a couple options and sent me on my way for a test ride. I found it!!! Yes it’s about time. The only thing is it was not in the color I wanted. So David said I can order it for you. He called a store in the Bay to see if it was available and it was. So I said lets do it! It took a couple days for it to arrive and I say I couldn’t be much happier with my Specialized Roubaix. I also got to say David took his time and helped me out a great deal, he just didn’t help me find a great bike he also helped me find all the extra stuff I needed. The thing is you just do not get a bike and your good to go you also need a helmet, shoes, clips etc. No this is not the cheapest shop but I guarantee you will be happy with your purchase, they guarantee that. I say go by there and check it out they will set you up right also ask for David he will take care of you. If you speak to anyone else well I hope you are happy lol. You know how that goes but hey I am happy with my purchase.

The crew at Mike’s is great. From the tech team to the register, they seem to really care about me as a rider and I feel welcome as soon as I set foot in the door.

I like these folks — found service to be the best and the sales folks to more like normal folks (I AM a sales folk — I know!). Bought two bikes to date — latest a Specialized Sirrius and — yes — I love it!
Worked with David Bolt (yes, that’s is real name) — very nice, knows bikes and the right fit for me!

I purchased a bike from this shop in July of 2014. I regularly bring my bike back for maintenance.
My experience with this shop and its employees, both sales and service, has been outstanding. Service is always prompt, and the techs are friendly. Todd, who sold me my bike, still remembers my name, over a year later, whenever I walk in.
I would recommend this shop to anyone.

I go to Mike’s for pretty much everything I need. I started cycling recently and I’m very glad I chose to buy my first road bike there. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful and they don’t make you feel stupid for asking newbie questions. Their maintenance plan is more than worth it — $ 150 for 5 years’ worth of tune-​ups and basic maintenance.
My one small complaint is that some of the things (apparel and accessories) are a bit overpriced, but I consider that the cost of being in a store where all my questions can be answered. The staff goes above and beyond to help every customer.
Mike’s is the best bike shop in Sacramento, hands down.

My favorite destination for everything bike. The team here is really pro customer, and you can feel there passion about bicycling.
Patrick was very helpful in teaching me on how to change the tubes on my bike tires. Pricing is quite reasonable. Thank you, I’ll be back soon.

Good service from there «all around nice guy» team. Got the family safety up for evening rides and also ordered a new mountain bike to play around with.
They installed the small components and took time to talk through options. Appreciated their perspective and time

I came in to have my headset race removed the other day and was directed to Corey, one of the technicians in the shop. Job was done easily and quickly, as expected. What stood out to me though, was that when I grew curious about how the process was done, Corey was more than happy to bring up the tools and explain everything to me. I had a great time talking to him and learning a bit of knowledge as well. He’s definitely a guy who loves bicycles, and it clearly shows.
I must admit, I was expecting to be there for 10 minutes, and ended up spending a half-​hour instead. Definitely a great place to get quality work done, as well as checking out all the bike-​candy on display throughout the store.

People told me if I went to a bike shop for a bike, I’d be paying at least $ 500. And that was true most places I looked. I just wanted a simple hybrid with gears that I could ride around town pulling my toddler’s bike trailer, and my cruiser wasn’t cutting it.
They have everything you could want for bikes at Mike’s, and the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. I found a nice bike for $ 279 on their website, went in to test ride a similar one (since they didn’t have that exact bike in store at the time).
A few days later it arrived from the warehouse and was ready for pick up. They gave me the spring sale price which brought the price even lower, like $ 260 or something.

I went in yesterday to buy my first bike since my old high school commuter Huffy. I needed a solid and reliable bike for on and off road. I did a lot of research before going in, so I knew what I wanted when I walked in the door– but as a plus size rider I was nervous and intimidated.
Mason helped me from the second I walked in the door. Cheerful, friendly, knowledgable, and helpful! He changed saddles a few times for me on the two different sized bikes I tried. He patiently waited while I took each bike for a spin around the store.
Overall I had a pleasant experience and I plan to return for future needs. Thanks for great service and selection!
