Nails Galore

Although people rave about the service provided here, I must disagree. This was my first time here … When I walked in, the three women there were not welcoming or warm. The lady who did my nails was on her phone the ENTIRE time. At the beginning, all she said was «go pick your color» and at the end, she finally hung up with whoever she was on the phone with, and told me I needed to make an appt for a fill… I value customer service and people who are warm, welcoming, friendly and courteous, and she was not.
I might give it a try in a while, but for now, this place is not a place to return to in my eyes.

My favorite place to get my nails done in Sac. Tons of gel colors. It takes forever for my fill to grow out (never a bad thing!) Never had a broken nail.

I’ve been consistently going here every two weeks for over a year now and my go-​to manicurist for my gel nails is Helen (lady that sits to the right). She is fast (usually ½ hour max) and my nails are perfect every time! I am pretty picky with my gel nails and she gets it right every time. Also, they have a nice variety of gel colors! I highly recommend Helen! :)
Also, I agree with everyone else, call ahead and make an appointment. I typically call the morning of and come in later that day.

They really do a great job with my dry, brittle nails. A word of caution — make an appointment or prepare to wait. Also, take a friend or some music if you don’t want to be bored. Otherwise, no complaints. It’s close to my work and I can almost always get in on the same day.

Really wanted this place to be what the reviews suggested it was. Randomly came across them on Unilocal and they are only one block from work. Walked in not greeted then woman nearest the door looked irritated to have to look up from her iPad game of candy crush. No please, no thank you’d, no your welcome, NO responses AT ALL! Just sit down and that will be $$ ect.
I decided to stay and give it a shot. Communication and customer service are not this places strong suit but my gel manicure was done well and the provider (no lady nearest door) was kind but, quiet. Positives:
–they have a great selection on nail color.

This place could be a gem with its central downtown location. Bummed :(

A friend recommended this nail salon to me so I decided to try it out. I was looking for something different and instead of my usual gel mani & pedi, I asked for a full set of stiletto nails. They did a good job and the first time I was there was a pleasant experience. I went back in for a fill & the main boss lady who runs the shop (or so it seems) did my nails this time. She was rude the entire time, not friendly at all. My nails turned out well, although my pedicure done by someone else was terrible & rushed. I left and tipped both lady’s anyway. Two weeks after getting my fill, my nails started to hurt & break off. A week later I went into the salon & told them I needed the rest of the acrylic nails removed (only 4 left) and showed the boss lady that 3 of my natural nails broke off over half of the way to the cuticle, my nails were destroyed. It was so painful I could barely do day to day tasks with my hands. All the boss lady said was that «I waited too long to come back & get them filled» While that may be partially true, 2 – 3 weeks is pretty standard to go get a fill and I have NEVER had my natural nails so damaged before getting a full set. They looked so terrible after, I had to get a manicure just to cover up how unhealthy they were. I asked her how much & she said $ 12, I said ok. She barely spent 5 minutes on my manicure, did a horrible job & had an attitude like she didn’t care whatsoever. When I went to pay I said so you’re charging me $ 12 right? As she grabs my card she says no shes charging me $ 17, runs my card without my permission of the $ 17, hands me the receipt & wants me to sign. She said she was charging me to remove the 4 acrylic nails that were left on my hands. I told her that my nails were torn apart & I should not be charged for that, especially when the majority of them had already broken off. She didn’t care and told me again it was my fault for waiting too long to get them filled. Worst customer service EVER. My nails are still healing. Because of the way she treated me, I will never return to Nails Galore.

The shop does waxing as well. The gel manicure was a creative creation that sparkles. I look forward to going back.

I love Nails Galore, Helen and her team of ladies are FAB! I’m a full time Downtown employee with 30 minute lunch and a full time Mom, so getting extra time after work is impossible and Helen makes it happen all during my lunch. She does a fabulous job with my nails, if I’m getting a full set, fill, gel manicure or pedicures! Fast, relaxing and fantastic nails! I «nail envy» from friends and most of them also go to Nails Galore!

They do a great-​job nail wise! Make an appointment in the morning, because they are always pretty busy. My one critique is that customer service wise they could be a bit more personable and friendly… But at the end of the day I go for a good pedicure, not a new best friend — so still a 4 star for that :)

Took time on my pedi and convinced me to do the gel. I love it! Good mani as well, switching up the color because I decided it wasn’t dark enough after starting with the first one. No hand massage or would have gone 5 stars. Great little find as I was passing by!

Horrible customer service.
My wife and I walked in to get pedicures.
When we walked in it was empty and both ladies were sitting in the chairs reading magazines. We asked for two pedicures and they both looked at each other and began to speak to each other in their native language (this is also rude). Then they said, «we only do appointments». Mind you that this is no where on their signage or page… so we left in a hurry because it was apparent that they didn’t want our business.

Recently visited this nail salon based on reviews and ratings. After going and receiving one of the worse services I have ever had in my 15 year history of getting my nails done, I will never go back. I requested pricing over the phone for Fiberglas nails and was told $ 26. When I walked in, I waited about 30 minutes for someone to tend to me. There was only one other person there getting a wax and two other staff. I guess they were on an important break. Once I started my service, she asked me how long I wanted my nails and I wanted them kinda long and she then proceeds to tell me that that would be extra. I was appalled by that since I have never ever experienced that at any other nail salon I had ever been to in sacramento. I told her that was ridiculous and said that wasn’t what she said on the phone. She then shows me how long $ 26 would get me which was pretty short and I’m like no way I’m not 14 years old. She said she’ll charge me $ 26 since that’s what she said on the phone. So after she puts the product on, she’s shaping them and all the stuff. She puts the paints them and asks how do I like them. I’m looking at every angle, the shaping was the worse, they lacked the natural nail curve they usually build with the product and the filing wasn’t that great of a job either. So I told her she did the worst job and told her now I have to back to work thanks.
Never will go here again!

No major complaints here! I needed to kill some time and I needed a quick pedicure done by someone professional and that’s what I received! Loosing one star due to some odd looks I was given by the person giving me my pedicure.

I made a lunchtime appointment for a simple color change, and was not disappointed. When I arrived, the salon wasn’t very busy, but there were a couple customers, so I could have just walked in. I was seen right away.
The young woman who did my nails was very thorough and careful, which is a big plus in my book. They were polite and efficient. The salon was very clean and they had a large selection of gel polish brands. The prices were a little higher than you might find at most places (ran me $ 25), but the location was very convenient to my work, it was quiet and relaxed, and I would definitely go again.

Updating my rating as I came in for another gel manicure by a different nail tech and was not as impressed, though she did a more-​than-​fine job.

Wanted to try a new nail place so I came here & I can for sure say I am very pleased with the way my nails came out! The lady did exactly how I asked with the little flowers :-) I didn’t give them the full 5 stars only because they COULD work on their customer service a bit more. I was not greeted at the door no smiles nor a good bye. Overall, pretty good.

Color change and a MINOR fix to ONE nail: $ 20
The color example did NOT match the color on my nails.
The edges of my nails were not painted and ALREADY seem like they’re going to chip. Wouldn’t be surprised if I lost color before the end of the day.
Lastly, not one of the ladies asked how I was doing or even tried to engage in conversation of any sort.
Disappointing.

I’ve been going here for several months now and it’s probably the best overall nail salon I’ve been to in Sacramento.
One of the best things about this place is that I’ve had three different women do my fills and polish, and each one was great. They take their time, and pay attention to the small details. I’ve gone to nail salons where some staff were good but some sucked… not this place. I feel comfortable with whoever I get. I’ve never gone to another salon and gotten such consistent service. That alone is worth it to me.
They are priced a little high. You can get cheaper in the burbs but, again, I don’t mind when I know it will look good.
They have a small regular polish selection, that’s true. They have a HUGE gel polish selection, though. Their default seems to be gel, which can be misleading when they just do it without telling you and all of the sudden you’re paying more than you thought. But I get only gel polish now anyways so I don’t mind.
You do usually have to make an appointment but I kind of like that they don’t just try to cram as many walk ins as they can into their chairs. I’ve never waited longer than five minutes to get my nails started, so I appreciate that they cater to more appointments than walk ins.
The place is clean, and every time I’ve been there, they’ve been doing come sort of cleaning or sanitizing of equipment.
Overall, I never leave unhappy and often get compliments on their work.

I LOVE this place.
I’m young, I don’t have a ton of money, but hey, I like my indulgences. 25 $ for a spectacular gel manicure that always seem to last longer than I expect! Helen runs a great little business and I’m always happy to return.

This was my third time into Nails galore. I’ve been living in sacramento for a year and have been to NUMEROUS places that just don’t do a good job. Every time I’ve gone to them my nails stayed looking nice for 4 weeks and would of continued so if it wasn’t for the natural growth of the nail.
I’m seeing a lot of complaints about not being able to walk in whenever you want. Which I can see being true because there are only 3 woman who work here AND they are really good at what they do. So naturally, it’s expected that they are going to be busy! I always just call a day or two in advance and it works out every time as I can tell they care about their customers.
Also, they have an abundance of gel colors which most places lack.
Helen does a fantastic job. And everyone is always nice. Well worth your money. I will continue going back.
