Today I had the French Dip with provolone and it was so meaty and delicious!!! So many choices of sandwiches here… looking forward to my next visit.

I like meat, but not enough to come here daily. But when I get a hankering, this is the place.(This and Buckhorn.) I recommend splitting a sandwich with a friend. Also, I love watching them pull out a giant roast and cut it on an ancient wood block. So cool.

The French dip is amazing, the meat was the perfect temperature. Get it with horseradish. The sandwich is good sized, but is slightly pricier than expected. Other posts say there is no water, that has since been fixed and tap water was available

Sandwich good and big and tasty but they were unable to serve water. Lots of customers so I’m not the only who likes it. They slice the meat right there to order. They are fresh. They also have WiFi unlike 24 Hour Fitness.

A deli spot that gives you the amount of meat you want in a sandwich. I recommend the roast beef, but be prepared for long lines. Good food for one of those long days.

Last time I got the roast beef since I saw them cutting it fresh off the bone. Sandwiches are under $ 10. The soups are also great and cheap at less than $ 4. They serve a lot of meat unlike most places. Sometimes a soup is all I need.

This is my highlight of jury duty and will always be on the docket in reward for my service to Sacramento County’s Superior Court. I really should come here more frequently. Fresh roasted meat carved to order. Including Roast Beef, Roast Pork, Pastrami and Corned Beef. The French Dipped is completely delicious. Current price stands at $ 8.49, add cheese for $.80. Sides are mostly $ 2. By the time you add the cheapest beverage option(can of soda) and sales tax lunch lands just a little north of $ 13. Not a bargain price but the quality of the sandwich easily wins over the few extra dollars you might save at other local options. It’s also a well deserved reward for the pain and suffering incurred down the street. The interior is operationally all about function. Walk in the door and join the line that moves quickly enough. On the way to the front you pass by multiple menus listing specials and options. They always look appealing but for me it’s all about the carved meats. The interior is dated in such a great retro way. Grab a tray make your selection and it’s plated right there, or in the case of the carved meats sliced to order. Be sure to state if you have a preference on how done you like your beef or you will most likely end up with slices perfectly between medium rare and medium. Cruise on down the line just a little with your tray and opt for one of a side. Sides include beef vegetable soup, green salad, mac salad, potato salad, coleslaw, Italian pasta salad, mashed potatoes and french fries(all at $ 2). Next it’s time to select a beverage. Options range from soda fountain to assorted canned and bottled beverages and even a decent selection of beers(jury duty kills this option for me, then again that may change next time). Shuffle your tray over to the cashier to pay your fare and grab utensils and napkins. Don’t delay your beverage selection too long or you may be line jumped by those grabbing something to go and in a rush to get back to the office. Seating is plentiful on the early side of lunch but it seems to get full as the hour gets later. There are a fair number of large tables that lend to communal dining with other patrons. The food is so delicious my mouth is too occupied for much conversation. I like the stroll back to the courthouse to help shake that little food coma that sinks in post delicious indulgence. Now that I am wrapping this up I have an urge to get back that’s not going to wait for my Juror Badge to arrive in the mail.

Bud’s Buffet is all about the meat. This unapologetic carnivore heaven is located in an unassuming basic storefront on 10th Street in downtown Sacramento. They are only open for lunch during weekdays, but they are usually packed with hungry customers. The layout of the restaurant is cafeteria style without an AYCE setup common in most places called a «buffet» so be prepared. You enter the restaurant and stand in line. Once you get to the main serving counter, you choose what freshly roasted meats you want and how you want it. They serve mainly sandwiches or meat plates with mashed potatoes. The staff will make your sandwich to order in any combination, but make sure to order fast and clearly to keep the pace moving. Their daily specials are old school, but usually very good. Grab a drink, and pay your bill then enjoy an amazing meal. These guys know their meat and roast everything to perfection. The roast beef is the star, but their roast pork is also very delicious. They have corned beef, pastrami, and turkey as well. Make sure to add gravy to the sandwich for an extra delicious treat. Unfortunately, you will smell like meat for the rest of the day if you eat inside the restaurant. Prices are relatively cheap, but this is a bare bones operation with little service or a varied menu. Nevertheless, you can always get your food to go and enjoy it in the park or back at the office. Bud’s is always a winner for meat!

Best sandwiches hands down. Always stick to either the Diablo or Roast Beef, no need to stray from perfection.

Weak, bargain-basement dining room. The roast beef french dip was very good! The au jus here is unique, thicker, with more flavor. Lots of meat on the sandwich, much more than expected.

This place is great and has a lot of delicious meat. I am very much a carnivore so this place is perfect for me. Their sandwiches have a huge amount of meat and the sides also are generous in proportions. Their set up is more like an older cafeteria, but who cares if there is good food to be had. Ordered their roast beef dip with cheese and a side of mashed potatoes. There was a long line, but it went pretty fast. The sandwich had a lot of flavor and was very messy. They slice the meat in front of you. The mashed potatoes and gravy reminded me if Thanksgiving. The potatoes needed more flavor, but were fluffy. I will be back for more!

Good wholesome food. Big portions in a dank side street location. I have eaten here many time and it has always been good. House roasted everything! You really cant go wrong with Buds. !t is reasonably price too!

I went to lunch here while serving on jury duty. Originally I was going to get a ham sandwich, but when I saw the warm roast beef being freshly sliced, I just had to try it. It was the best roast beef sandwich I’ve ever had. The roast beef was not dry at all, and all the ingredients in the sandwich were nice and balanced; no one flavor was overpowering. The mashed potatoes were nice and creamy. The gravy by itself tasted a little bland, but was excellent when you put them together. The interior décor is old, and you can smell the age. But the restaurant is kept very clean, and the staff was fast and friendly. I will come back again, for sure.

Great place to eat lunch downtown. Get there 10 minutes prior to noon to avoid the super long line. I got the roast beef sandwich and it was quite flavorful. There was too much bread, though. Price of the sandwich should include a side or a drink…

I really wanted to love this place based on all the reviews and pics plus was looking forward to a meat coma, but this fell really short in my book… it started when I got the sandwich which included 8″ black hair which luckily I did not take a bite of… so I took it back up to the counter and asked the young gal to switch it out and she was friendly enough, but I asked to get another type and because I ordered a sandwich on special she say I will have to pay the difference? Huh I didn’t want your black hair in my food? I even asked her how could she charge me more and it didn’t even phase her… I went ahead with my original choice and she promptly brought out not what I ordered with no condiments and when I asked her she really started to get irritated and now asked if I just wanted them on the side. I should have taken a pic of the slop shredded lettuce/onion/tomato she gave me. Seriously at this point I didn’t know it would be semi-torture just to get a sandwich from here. What was also irritating is that by the time I got my food all my co workers where done eating and now had to wait for me to finish. To add insult to me the BBQ sauce was so over powering that it just drowned out what might be a good sandwich plus in my opinion what they call potato salad is just left over mashed patatoes made into what they call a salad wasn’t even edible. I might go back for a cold sandwich but I would seriously think twice and hopefully minus the hair.

If you like French dip sandwiches, this is the place for you. The best French dip I’ve ever had. I always get roast beef and corned beef on a roll with the gravy/au jus. A side of mashed potatoes and a drink and you’re all set. The au jus is peppery and flavorful. The meats are sliced thin and delicious. The potatoes are… well, it’s hard to mess up mashed potatoes, so they’re legit too. A definite place to stop if you’re hungry, as the portions are huge and they food is delish.

Located in downtown. This place is known from the surrounding business and employees(government). This shop doesn’t look like much on the outside or inside. Can’t judge for that. Clearly distinct are the aromas of sandwiches and sides made in house as soon you come through the door. Staff is friendly and prompt to make sandwiches. The long line encountered is forgotten by the time you reach the order counter. Sandwich meats include turkey, ham, roast beef, pastrami and the likes. Plenty of produce choices. Sides or chips also for purchase. Daily specials are offered. Aside from sandwich, entrée offerings include various classics. Typically I visit for lunch. Order a full hot pastrami with all the produce on a nice roll. Meat and all are portioned well. Usually too much to eat in a sitting. Especially with a bag of chips. Cafeteria style bill is settled. Good: fast friendly, tasty food, Bad: nothing to date. Tip: to go or dine in prepare to the smell like the shop. I’m a return customer.

Bud’s has the grubs! A family restaurant in downtown that serves the best roast beef sliced in front of your eyes. I ordered the roast beef sandwich and the boyfriend ordered the pastrami sandwich. The roast beef was tender and the dipping sauce paired well with the sandwich. Nothing really stood out about the pastrami sandwich. Even though the name of this restaurant is Bud’s «Buffet», it isn’t a buffet. I would come back for their roast beef sandwich.

First timer went to Bud’s buffet and we got pastrami sandwich with provolone cheese, lettuce and pepper with mayo on the bread. It was good with a lot of amount of pastrami, but next time I want my bread to be toasted and the cheese melted, I will asked if the dude behind the counter can do it.
