Comfy and cozy coffee house with a European style exterior giving it a picturesque and inviting look. On a Sunday afternoon there was plenty of seating in the spacious interior. Brick and wood walls complimented the warm exterior. Pour over coffee and mocha latte were perfect in the cold weather. Even the clientele gave a warm feel. Everyone seemed to be on a coffee date. Overall great experience in a great location.

Let me preface this by saying I am not a huge coffee drinker. I know, I know… I also don’t like bacon. I KNOW! Just stop reading now because anything I could possibly say lacks all credibility! I am in LOVE with Insight’s cold brew coffee. I would marry it if I could. It is refreshing and has a great flavor and doesn’t have to be covered up with all kinds of flavoring and whipped toppings like some other more well known global chains… Dash of milk and brown sugar and I am set! I love sitting in this coffee house or out on their patio while drinking my coffee in a glass. Reduce, reuse, recycle people! I love the baristas here. It is such a low key, warm, and inviting atmosphere where they chat with you and genuinely seem to want to have the conversation. Not obligatory small talk. I am sure their fancy pants drinks are great too, but if you can serve a perfect cup of joe; the rest is gravy, baby!

Insight was a delight! Super friendly staffs who really knows their coffee. Best part, check in on Unilocal and get a complimentary cup of house brew or cold brew. While the boyfriend got a latte, I was treated with the cold brew. It was one of my favorite taste of cold brew. I’m more into the earthy-berry taste than the flowery-tarty tang taste. Cold brewed for 24hrs, served over light ice. Perfection. I enjoyed the quiet spacious environment at this coffee shop and adorable entrance.

Came here for a cappuccino and a sit down while I was sight seeing the Capitol on a rainy day. These guys did not disappoint. The coffee was good and strong & the service was nice and friendly. Venue is really nice. Spacious with nice and cosy dark wood interior.

Great coffee and smooth vibes. The coffee comes from around the world and is provided locally. The customer service is ideal for me when it comes to coffee shops: unassuming, smooth, chill. The expresso was decent. I would have wanted the lemon rind that some places serve with expresso to cut the bitterness. Overall, this is a good choice for coffee goers.

My daughter and I found this coffee shop while roaming around Downtown a few weeks ago. I ended up in downtown again this morning and literally roamed around for half an hour until I found it. Their coffee is that good! The guys working the coffee press were pleasant and artistic. I will find ways, or reasons, to be in downtown.

They make really tasty and beautiful cappuccinos. A little on the pricey side for being such a small drink, but hey, you get what you pay for.

Came here for the first time with family. Love their drinks. The place is very open with nice wood tables spread out inside. Large bench seating outdoors if you have dogs. Service was excellent. I was disappointed that the pastry selection was very minimal this afternoon. NOTE: sorry, just realized that this review is for the 8th street location

Ordered black coffee, and was disappointed. Coffee had a sour taste to it and I could only drink half the cup before the taste became too over powering. Not sure if this is a brewing technique, or if the coffee beans are old, whatever. I was really hoping to find a great new coffee shop… Also ordered a cranberry scone, that was delicious. Ordering process also seems a bit slow. If they get a few people in line, you could be waiting a long time to order…

So good! I’ve only had their iced coffee thus far, but I suspect everything here is great. The pastries are awesome. I had a scone this morning that was on the verge of having too many awesome sweet and slightly tart berries in it; that’s just unheard, scones tend to be a bit too dry and boring. The baristas are always polite and chipper without being all up in your grill or disingenuous. This is undoubtedly my new favorite coffee in Sac.

Best cup of Sacramento coffee I’ve had. I have been to this location when it was Temple and Broadacre. This is the best yet. In fact I enjoyed it more than Insight’s midtown location. The ordering process is still a bit confusing for pour over coffee unless you really know your coffee stuff. Pricing isn’t clear either. It’s fun to have many options for brew methods and beans. Insight roasts their own beans and appear to be getting better at it. I ordered the Ethiopian brewed with hario v60 filter pour over. It was delicious. Rich full body medium/light roast, lush and balanced. Carefully brewed. Next time I’ll buy a bad of beans to bring home.

After I came Insight Coffee Roasters at 16th Street days ago, I decided to come to this place located at 10th Street also in the Downtown neighborhood this Sunday on 7÷26÷2015. This peaceful house building is quite a great place to get good drinks! Since I saw Alex T’s review before I come there, this building was a local used books store until it gone out of business years ago as ICR comes by to use it as of today. The atmosphere is fantastic! Very woodcraft made with the indie contemporary touch as the indie alternative music plays on throughout the day. The baristas Tim and AJ(which both of them are men) have done a fantastic job for making incredible drinks, giving recommendations and suggestions, and so forth. No problems and issues for these two baristas men at all! I started ordered the cold brew iced coffee despite the massive heatwave weather. So far, the drink tasted very good compared to their 16th Street location. Very rich and bolder than Starbucks. The parking can be tougher and harder to park in the Downtown area. You can park here at Cesar Chavez Plaza, or going to the parking garage. Otherwise, you can also bike, walk, or using public transit easier without the hassles. In the end, Insight Coffee Roasters’ 10th Street is closely the best ICR I’ve ever been! I’ll might come back for this place! Highly recommend!

Coffee Tastings AND Kick-Ass Iced Tea! SITREP I just happened to be galavanting down the K Street Mall(aka«The Kay») to hit my favorite sweet spot — Andy’s Apothecary — and lo & behold, a block over was this bright friendly installment of Insight Coffee Roasters(aka«Insight»)! THESETUP I’ve been a big fan of the Insight located at 8th& S Streets since this is one of my go-to stops for java-goodness before hitting my office a mere 2 blocks away. I also recently came into the forum of the newest Insight located at 16th& P Streets, because it is on the path that I usually take to go home. So seeing this location was a happen-chance accident, but it has inspired me to broaden out my treks — both to and from work — and perhaps lunch even because this is when I usually transition from coffee to iced tea during the summer months, and today’s Black Needle Iced Tea was absolutely delish! But I’m getting ahead of myself since we need to talk about this store proper! COFFEEEDUCATION&TASTING As soon as I walked into Insight I was greeted by the friendly staff — namely Insight’s Über-Baristas & Officianados Tim & A.J., and I came right at the right time because they treated me to the wonders of their Nicaraguan roast with a coffee tasting! They had a wonderful layout on their main counter top and described to me the different process they used —(1) Chemex,(2) Aeropress, and(3) French Press — and it was fun how to taste the delicate coffee balances could be tweaked by these different *brewing*-processes. ICEDTEA Without a doubt, the coffee is the main engine of stores like Insight. However, it is wonderful that for a hot afternoon, Insight also has some delicious Iced Tea varieties for us to enjoy to take the end off the heat. THE«INSIGHTCOFFEE» BRANDING Let me just take a quick minute to say that Sacramento is dam lucky to have the wonderful coffee houses under the«Insight Coffee» name. From rich delicious brews that I get in the morning, to the refreshing cool iced teas that I love in the afternoon, Insight has got it going! From their«Downtown»(10th& J Streets), to their«Fremont»(16th& P Streets), and to their«Southside»(8th& S Streets) locations, each of these locations has surprised me with something enjoyable & delicious(and FUN) that is unique to each of them, but embodies the overall«Insight» mission & spirit. [I have to say honestly, though, I’ll probably never the see the inside of their location in the«fu-fu» Pavilions shopping center because I don’t want to mistaken for a homeless dude.] THELOWDOWN Insight Coffee is a most welcome stop along(ish) the K Street Mall for a quick cup of jo or some nice refreshing tea!

This was a great find on my recent trip to Sacramento. If the words Blue Bottle, Sightglass, and Ritual mean anything to you, this is your spot in downtown Sacramneto. If those words mean nothing, this is still your spot because once you have a taste of the real deal, Starbucks will never be the same. The staff was very nice, and was very enthusiastic about their craft. Also a small selection of baked goods. I tried the bran muffin. It was delicious. Go here!

AMAZINGSERVICE. I’ve been working in Sacramento for almost a year now and I’ve been on a mission to slowly try out all the local coffee shops. I have to say, Insight is becoming my favorite. When I say amazing service, I mean it. The baristas here are great! Super knowledgeable, helpful and just plain nice. I love, love, love pourover coffee and I watch these guys actually work on my drink with time and effort. It’s such a nice change from places that just pump out drinks. This location is adorable on the inside. I’m not a fan of sitting outside here due to the folks that usually linger between J & K. However, the inside is cozy and it’s a usually pretty quiet. Perfect for getting some work done or having a meeting. I’m definitely one who supports local roasters and I’m happy to have Insight Coffee so close by.

One of the Insight coffee in downtown Sac, matcha latte always good for me, would like to try their mocha next time. Only a little choice of pastry today though, maybe they will have more choice next time.

I was downtown so, I thought I would finally stop into Insight coffee. I have not been in this place since it was Temple over a year ago. I heard this place was only for hipsters, but despite my lack of hipness the barista was still very nice to me. It was pricey as expected. I got a small cup of house drip for about three bucks. It was a great cup of coffee. There is free Internet, and I found a seat with a plug right there for my computer. I know this place gets packed, but I was there in the morning just as all the Downtowner’s were getting to work. At this time in the morning, I was the only one there. All in all it was a very good first experience.

Awesome little place, glad Insight Came in to replace BroadAcre that moved out. Great staff. always nice and accommodating, even with the strange downtown crowd. The Americano I got was great. Not anything crazy good but definitely better than average(I’m a coffee connoisseur or at least I would like to think so) the only complaint that I could possibly have is the old man smell that emanates from the building. Parking is street parking, be careful. they come around quickly.

I have been to this location a while ago. They are very simple and classic and just strong caffeine drinks is which i like alot. And the prices are lower than starbucks. Before walking in, you can really miss the place and thought it was a regular boutique or book store if you dont look up at the sign. The building is very nice and unique with a lot of windows you can see inside but its kind of dark inside. There are outside seating but only one table and one long table along the rail with chairs. the seating outside for a big group is a no no. The chairs for the outdoors are uncomfortable and small. When you try to enter the coffee shop the door is very heavy and hard to push in to get in. When you are trying to exit and holding a drink to go outside and enjoy it, the door is really hard to pull with one hand because the spring on the door is very tight and requires one hand and one foot to open it, if the one of the hands are holding the drink. anyways when i walked in i like the roomy space they have and the hard wood floors. its like walking a long hallway to get to the the baristas and order the drinks in the back. the menu is very simple and drinks are written on a chalk board. the prices are written as 3 ½ meaning $ 3.50. i was greeted and then i ordered a cappuccino with a design on it. then the drink was ready in less than 5 minutes because they were not busy maybe just 6 people inside. The place was very quiet like a library with no music on. its a great place to study and read book. the drink which i ordered was a cup of cappuccino in a cup for here to enjoy. the cup was smaller than a latte and i believe its a one size. The cappuccino had a lot of foam and it was because of the design i requested which is usually better on latte drinks. the cappuccino was smooth and was not too bitter. i liked it a lot since i like my coffee or drinks less sweet or no sweet at all. it was already mixed in with the cream so i was good to go and just enjoy my cup outside, with the one table they had with chairs. while i was sitting outside i observed people faces and reaction about how they didn’t notice about the shop. some people reactions was like wow theres a coffee shop here?. i guess its easy to miss and wonder whats this building about because it was unique. i also observed people taking pictures of this building too and say its nice as well. the design of the place is very simple and nothing special. they have 2 long walls with some padded seating and tables with chairs as well. i also liked the window seats right by the entrance but its just so sunny the sun is all over me and my eyes. but i will be back for some more coffee and try out the whole menu soon. also they have a group on special going on right now with $ 15 for 5 different visits with 5 bucks on each one but a value of $ 25 worth.

Only a 3.5 star average, Unilocal?Seriously? You have led me astray to more than a few mediocre places, yet this place is worthwhile but underrated. I work downtown and saw this new location of Insight Coffee Roasters when I was walking around my lunch break one day. I already had some coffee this morning, so opted to just try one of their doughnuts from Doughbot. I got the Blueberry Cornmeal doughnut and would give it 4 stars. The woman working behind the counter was very nice and asked if I wanted a glass of water to go with my doughnut. Apparently, this location has been open just over two months. The atmosphere inside is pretty nice, but I didn’t like the music that was playing and did notice more than a few flies buzzing around for some reason. So yeah, they just need to ditch the current music selection and figure out how to get rid of the flies. I’ll be back and I encourage you to come check them out yourself and write your own review!
