Came with a large group of people for breakfast. I ordered the French toast and an iced mocha. The iced mocha was outstanding and frankly everybody’s coffee drinks looked great. However, the French toast was short of good. Out of 14 people, my order was number 10. My food came dead last, about 5 – 10 minutes after the 13th order. I was literally the last person to get their food was eating by myself. It was so embarrassing. Everybody watched me and waited for me to finish and I just felt so guilty as I tried to hurry. Not only that, but the French toast was so bad. It looked like a mess they threw into my plate and threw some syrup and this horrible ginger jam onto it. I was so disappointed, I didn’t even eat one whole slice. I let 4 other people try to eat my plate and nobody liked it. They thought the same thing; the ginger jam made no sense being in a French toast plate and the syrup and butter was just a mess on it. Terrible food but good coffee.

With the exception of a weird one way street outside and limited parking, I’ve only recently discovered that this is one of the best coffee shops in Sacramento. It has everything the modern coffee drinker and shop lounger would need and then some. It’s just a shame that I hadn’t visited this Old Soul sooner! I popped in for the first time for a business meeting and was immediately impressed by the atmosphere and selection. The barista(proper title?) was super friendly and helpful when I hit a block as to what I wanted from the menu. I settled for an obscure tea, iced. It was wonderful that many of the iced teas here aren’t pre-batched and served all day, but instead made fresh to order. I was even more impressed when I discovered their spacious outdoor patio with plenty of places to sit and work and enjoy the sunshine. And the wifi was lightning fast! You can bet me a cup of coffee that I’ll be back many times in the future.

Literally my favorite coffee shop I’ve ever visited. I’m pressed for time, so here are the Sparknotes: –Rotational coffee selections from all over the world. If you are really into Ethiopian, Colombian, Sumatran, whatever it’s here and the staff know their stuff. –Small but delicious iced selection(Try the black lychee tea) –The only coffee shop I know in the area whose food is as good, if not better than, their coffee. Try the mac n cheese or the pork loin sandwich,(I’m a glutton for richness) — Not looking for an upper? No worries. There’s a rotational beer selection. — cozy atmosphere with couches, long tables, corner booths, whatever you like. — Patio perfection. Large and shaded with fountains and light background music for ambiance. Only two or three plugs outdoors, so if you’re coming to work, make sure you’re charged up!

Absolutely LOVE this Old Soul. It’s right next to my office so my coworkers and I are always in here for coffee or lunch. Haven’t had a bad experience yet!

I’ve worked in coffee shops both in SF and in Napa so I know a few things. This by far in Sacramento is my favorite coffee house. Great food,(never ate their late lunch menu) I like this location better than their others. Outdoor patio is peaceful Their coffee is superb! Worth a quick drive or walk from anywhere downtown.

My boyfriend and I went on a double date here this morning for breakfast, and we certainly will be returning soon. The Food First off, I couldn’t decide what to order off the menu, because it all sounded so delicious. The recipes are simple, sophisticated, and noticeably fresh– both in flavor profile and quality. I had the grilled cheese, with a salad and the iced lychee black tea. The lychee tea I hadn’t tried before and HIGHLY recommend. The Service Everyone I interacted with during our meal were kind and attentive. I didn’t feel like they were overbearing or pushy, but offered recommendations when asked and generally seemed to be enjoying their day. The barista I interacted with in my initial encounter was wonderfully humorous and left me feeling like I had made a new friend :) The Space The atmosphere is relaxed, and feels cozy enough that I imagine it will be a great place to bring some school work in the fall, but was light and airy enough for a hot spring day like today. The manager, John, was very charming and has great taste in art, he mentioned that he works with all the artists to help them be successful, and seems to take great pride in his work. All in all, highly recommend.

The outdoor area is just lovely. Food is surprisingly delicious. Normally I don’t bother with food at coffee places, but here, totes worth it. Also, beer! and wine! :) For the coffee, I’ve never been super impressed with the lattes, but the mochas here are great. Not too sweet and just the right amount of chocolate.

This is a nice coffee and bar in the heart of midtown, mixed amongst residential and commercial. Quiet and trendy. Plenty of seating and the coffee is amazing. Awesome place to relax and enjoy a cup.

Love this place, from the quant tree lined street it’s on, to its unique used brick exterior and concrete floors with exposed brick walls inside. Local artist’s artwork adorn the walls. Plenty of seating inside with black leather chairs & couch, along with wicker chairs with wooden tables. Seating is available outside as well. There really is something to satisfy everyone here as well. Beer and a wonderful selection of teas and coffee drinks. The food is great as well, I’ve always been happy with everything I’ve tried here. Quiche, Mac & Cheese, sandwiches, soups, salads & an assortment of baked goods too. What I enjoy most about this Old Soul location, is that the atmosphere here is just so warm & cozy, just what your favorite coffeehouse should be. So bring your laptop or favorite book, & cozy up with a tea or coffee, and just relax!

I love the feel of this place. It’s always so busy. The drinks are great. The food is fantastic! I’ve only been here twice and both experiences have been unforgettable. They have almond milk! :) They have specials for their daily dishes and it’s so fresh. I once ordered the summer salad which had arugula and strawberries and the dressing was just superb. Recently I had a bowtie pasta with alfredo sauce, avocado, and a whole bunch of other yummy ingredients. Great part was that I was able to modify my dish with no onions, no garlic, which tells me how fresh their dish is. If it was pre-prepared, I wouldn’t be able to change anything. Unfortunately I think it was a little too oily/buttery for me and gave me a stomach ache, but that’s just me. I’m not used to eating dairy, butter, etc so that was my fault. They’re great with modifications and substitutions and I ALWAYS appreciate that. Their daily specials run out fast, from so many orders, and they have to change the dish after it runs out. This place is my go-to when I’m in town.

I really like this space. On Saturdays, this place seems to too packed. It’s a nice place to study if you can find a place to sit. It can seem a little cramped so I tend to take my mocha to go. The staff is nice every time I been here. They also have a nice back patio.

Now this is my second«go to» place to study. The atmosphere is a rugged hipster coffee house that caters to everyone! Multiple seating areas indoors and outdoors. Tables on the indoors are a bit far from the seats in one of the corner areas. This will cause you to have your arms reach out or your body leaning in for a laptop. What I particularly like about this place is the combination of serving alcohol and coffee while delivering a chill atmosphere. The best feeling I’ve had while studying is sipping on a nice cold beer while attacking a 10 page essay for school. Be cautious about the bathrooms, they only have one available for both genders to use. This may cause a line during the peak hours.

I’ve been a fan of Old Soul for a few years now, but this particular location at the Weatherstone building is my favorite. It is such a great spot to catch up on work, study or just hang out! In addition to a variety of coffee and teas, they serve beer and cider. Catching up on work or studying is so much better with a drink! They also have a food menu that is short, but sweet. Sandwiches, burgers, salads, appetizers and my personal favorite, breakfast! I highly recommend the seasonal French toast and Old Soul tater tots. They are really good and fairly priced for what you’re getting. I also like this location because they have plenty of seating, including a patio area. If you’re working on a laptop, there are plenty of power outlets lined below the tables. I’m looking forward to trying out the patio area when it gets warmer.

Super relaxing atmosphere and great place to chill with friends. One of my fav coffee shops in Sacramento, definitely would recommend to anyone. Only complaint: the girl that was working the register could use a little more people skills and be a little friendlier. Not sure her name, but all staff should always remember to be friendly :)

Oh man, was I disappointed today. Not sure if it’s the employees but rather the establishment in general, but the coffee was burned and the jasmine tea was scarce. The husband barely touched his coffee, as it clearly was burned on the front and back end of his palette, but the rare jasmine tea that I paid $ 6 for was so skinny on the amount of tea in the pot, that I could barely taste it even after 6 minutes of steeping. But I do really love the fact they serve beer on tap my face

If you’re looking for that really specific«cozy coffee shop» atmosphere in Sacramento, then this is definitely the one you need to go to. The location and the building itself makes you want to come back more than the coffee sometimes to be honest with you. The inside is really cozy and they have a couple of couches and tables. Again, it has a really nice coffee place vibe. They also have this outside area which is nice for the summer and is surrounded by trees. It’s situated near older homes and it’s surrounded by trees so on a really nice day, the atmosphere here is almost euphoric. Then you get your coffee and it’s just great to relax there and have a nice coffee date. As for the coffee, it’s pretty good. I don’t think it’s any better or any worse than other coffee places in midtown but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s still good coffee. So again, if you’re looking for a cozy coffee shop, then this is your place since I’ve been to a couple of other coffee shops in midtown and this has had the best atmosphere.

I have to say, this is by far my favorite coffee shop in sacramento. The ambiance is very relaxing and conducive to either studying or hanging out, the coffee is the best flavored coffee(personal opinion), everything on the food menu is insanely delicious, and the service is phenominal. My girlfriend and I have become regulars at coffee shops since grad school apps deadlines have been coming around, and we always get the most work done here. Now that we are regulars almost nightly here, we get special treatment! On the weekends, this place is packed packed packed! But we come in for breakfast occasionally and still get great service. I love coming here, and I certainly will continue to!

Nice looking inside, but incredibly disappointing when it comes to the food. I ordered a Turkey Bacon Avocado sandwich for 7.50. It was smaller than the size of a baseball. Barely any turkey, almost no avocado and there was no bacon. I ordered without onions, and surprise, it came with onions. Normally not a big deal, but if in paying 7.50 for a baseball sized sandwhich, I want my order to be correct. The cashier also argued with us over our total. Total was $ 21.70, we gave $ 22. She said that we didn’t give her the $ 2 and that we owed her still. Now I had stepped away, so I didn’t here this. My girlfriend just didn’t feel like dealing with it. So we payed $ 23.70 for two baseballs with onion we didn’t want and a lemonade. But the lemonade was pretty delicious. Minus 5 stars for experience, plus 2 stars for the lemonade.

This location is cool … Its smaller than the alley way location … But has more outside seating. Same«so artsy hippy hip gotta be unique«vibe going on. Lots of college types doin whatever on their Mac… They have café type food, coffee, local beers … I only come for the coffee … My fave is the whiskey dream beans for take home… I usually order a vanilla latte … Not my all time fave … But not bad.

This little café/coffee shop is pretty much the perfect neighborhood coffee place. The staff is friendly and the environment is cozy. I guess quite a few people think the same way as I do as Old Soul was bustling with activity during my visit there. Old Soul is a well-known coffee chain in Sacramento. They serve up a unique blend of coffees that patrons continue coming back for. The coffee is so popular that Old Soul continues to expand. At the time of this review, Old Soul is making their way close to where I live in Davis. Besides the coffee though, Old Soul has their own kitchen to prepare food. Most coffee shops get their pastries and treats shipped in from an outside source. That’s not the case with Old Soul. Here, they make their own food… and that’s awesome. Old Soul serves up the usual battery of pastries like scones, muffins, and cookies… but they also offer more traditional breakfast items as well like eggs, bacon, and the like. And that’s something I really appreciate about Old Soul. Old Soul also serves up savory lunch dishes… but alas… I’ll have to give those a try the next time I come! All-in-all Old Soul is a very enjoyable coffee shop to visit, and I would definitely recommend it to coffee lovers out there — and especially if you want some food to fill you up as well!

First time back here in over a year on a Thursday just before 7 a.m. My opinions and rating from my review last year are still the same. I like that Old Soul serves breakfast and today ordered the Old Soul Scramble along with a 12oz mocha. The Old Soul Scramble was good and my mocha was good as well. They have a few taps here and start serving alcohol at 10 a.m. Not sure how I feel about mixing a coffee shop with a bar, but I guess it’s cool that people have options for their beverage. The atmosphere is pretty chill, but the interior is a little too dimly lit for my taste. The music was also a bit loud and annoying for this early in the morning. Those things aside, I’m still pretty happy hanging out here. I would come back if I was in the area.

Another review of one of the many artisan coffee shops in Sacramento. Not complaining, I’ll take it over starbucks any day and I like to have options. I really like this location. The workers here know what they’re doing and are really friendly. No pretentious hipster attitude! There was a bit of line when me and boyfriend arrived and they were fast at getting our drinks out as well as getting them started while we were in line. I also got a chocolate croissant which was delicious. It was so light and fluffy… mmm. I got my classic iced vanilla latte but unfortunately I couldn’t really taste the vanilla. It was still good though and luckily we were able to find a place to sit outdoors in their courtyard.

Great place to study or get some much needed reading done! They have plenty of tables available inside AND outside so it’s nice for those trying to enjoy the nice weather we’ve been having! :) Drinks are reasonably priced, I ordered a chai tea and it was only $ 4.50(comparable to Starbucks) and it tasted just as a chai tea should. Love the atmosphere of this place and everyone is REALLY friendly! From workers to customers everyone greets you with a smile! I came here around 9:30PM and, even though it’s not located in the best area of downtown, I felt completely safe and even stayed until they closed around 11PM. They also offer a wide variety of DAINTY food items – think your usual coffee shop pastries and sandwiches/bagels – and have even gone a step further to include beer and wine! Their food is decent, but a bit pricey, and I could probably eat two or three items and still be hungry. Either way this is a great place to come after work when you’re looking to relax! It can get noisy at times but overall has remained one of my favorite coffee shops in Midtown! Come for the ambiance and yummy coffee but not so much the food!

I love this Old Soul location, nestled in a cute corner of midtown. We went there one recent evening for a group meetup. We had already been barhopping and I had *intended* to get some coffee and start sobering up, aaaand then I found out they serve beer and wine. 45 minutes til last call? Merlot me up! *hic* I love the Weatherstone building and that patio is awesome. We sat outside in the cool April night and mingled with the group under the soft glow of string lights. A breeze would occasionally shake the flowering trees overhead and send a flurry of blossoms around everyone… sorry to wax poetic, but it felt like a bit of magic. If you’re looking for ambiance with your caffeine, Old Soul at Weatherstone is one of my top picks of Sacramento coffee shops.

Pros: 1) I like the location, cool for people-watching 2) I like that there is WiFi here 3) Employees are nice 4) They serve food here Cons: 1) Wish there were more tables out in the front to sit with your dog. They have an outside patio off to the side where they do NOT allow non-service dogs… makes no sense to me! 2) I had the tacos, totally dry! would never get it here again. The chicken tacos were so spicy, and I love spicy food. You should give more guac sauce to balance out the dryness. 3) had the caramel latte, it was ok!

3.5 stars Heard great reviews from my friends, so we decided to stop on by. This place is cute, mostly outside in the courtyard(there didn’t happen to have any fly infestation like in other reviews). Also, I noticed they offer beer/alcohol here too kinda cool! The coffee! Regular coffee too acidic tastes like something my Keurig can do. Old Soul Chai this was like all steam milk with barely any chai, naked’s bowl of soul is a better option. Then the mocha was probably the best out of these 3 because it the cocoa didn’t overpower the coffee. But wow! Old Soul hands down probably has the best coffee art in town. But it also could be that they have like an imprint over the coffee and they just sprinkle powder over it to create the art(that’s what it looks like!) However, the bathroom line is totally unacceptable. Coffee is a diuretic substance! People has to pee! My friend waited for 15 Minutes and it was still packed. We ended up just chugging down our drinks to leave. Tip: pee before you come and don’t expect extravagant coffee. You pay for the pretty courtyard and shade.

This place is still my go to spot for either coffee or work. The baristas, people, and occasional dog walkers make this a unique and genuine café; personally, its almost like a retreat where i can unwind, relax, read a book, program, problem solve, write, Unilocal review, and play a quick game of chess. Chess was sort of my hobby that turned into obsession while in college,(USCF Rating 1247 something) and i know of one or two players that occasionally visit this café who are either a US National Master rank or a Class A player. In other words, if you want some chess hustling beware, there are some good players at this café. Yes, you may quickly jump into conclusions that this place is filled with hipsters and yoga addicts but i dont mind. Everyone here is extremely nice, thoughtful, and open minded to new things, conversations, politics, business, school related, philosophy, and many more. What else do they offer besides coffee? Old Soul at The Weather stone has the following: Beer, Wine, Snacks, Pastries, Baguettes, Sandwiches, Salads, Veggie burgers, mac n CHEESE(really good), shirts, monthly art, and sometimes board games. If you need to get some studying, work, or personal projects done, do not think twice coming to this place. To recap: Payment — Credit/Cash Coffee Quality — Superb Customer Service — Above Par Food — Exceptional but not filling Atmosphere — Laid back Pet Friendly– Not really sure, it depends whose working that night Smoking — Can be an issue in the patio area but not many people mind, instead they welcome it Groups — Maybe group studying Anything Unique — they do have a heater in the patio area and a lot of craft beer Parking — Depends on the time of day, but i tend to get parking instantly near or around the block Would i recommend this place to a friend? YesssssSSSSS!!! yeah i think im addicted to coffeeeeE…

Love the lattes, carrot pineapple muffins. I like coming here for their sandwiches and side salads too. They have a nice patio to enjoy your treats or you can sit out front. The patio is partial smoking so if you don’t want to be near smoke you should try for a spot inside. Great little neighborhood to walk around after eating.

My Favorite Conversational Coffee Patio & Memories of Bobby Burns SITREP My history with this physical location for this coffee establishment(now under different ownership then when I first came here in 1996), goes back a couple of decades. THESETUP Back then was a great time for me with various coffee clatches of friends, when we got our espressos & mochas, talked sh*t, smoked cloves, organized carpools to different DJ and Concert events down in the Bay Area, etc. But we were also regaled by several Sacramento icons, including musician Bobby Burns. [And his is one face that were forever be etched in my mind, as he graciously moved from table to table, busing up our dirty dishes and garbage.] TIMESCHANGE .new ownership by the«Old Soul» crew, new faces, and new establishment metrics — they serve Brews & Hard Cider now(on that front alone that’s a fun welcome change!) But even the physical plant has now been upgraded and — even though still very conversational in emphasis both inside and especially out on the patio — the inside venue really caters to the laptop-tablet /WiFi crowd. There have been many an evening, included twice this very week already, where I’ve taken my tablet over to Weatherstone(sorry, I have hard time NOT saying«Weatherstone» — force of years of habit, and it will always be that for me), to have a cookie, or a pastry, and/or a cider, and just enjoyed an hour of quiet reflection while tapping on my tablet. CONVERSATIONALMECCA But even just this past Sunday, my sweet friend Fabianna told me to get my butt over to Weatherstone since she and her brother Conzetti JUST parked so they could hang out there, and so I found myself going over and got a cookie while we chatted about what was up in our lives. Weatherstone is particularly good for that — which is why most of the time if in midtown, I prefer to meet friends there rather than Starbucks(where I do my true focused business WiFi’ing a few blocks away at 19th). THELOWDOWN Great conversation to accompany delicious pastries & excellent coffee(or cider!)
