Just an old time bar. Don’t expect to go here to club. Very traditional bar with great prices and heavy pouring hands.

Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name. This is a ratty shithole of a bar, and it’s absolutely perfect. Cheapest beer I’ve seen in town and the greatest way to end a night. This is the place where I usually run into all my drunk friends. This is the place where we buy pitcher after pitcher until we get kicked out. This is the place where we meet new people as everyone is being shuffled to the door. This is the place that you stick around the parking lot until Über rates go back down. This is the place. I hated this bar at first. It usually has beer on the floor, there’s only one tv, and one good bartender. The bouncer is cool, we usually end up chatting about something random.

If you dig dive bars, people watching, generous pours and cheap drinks, this is the spot to be.

It’s where you come to get wasted. Their jukebox is legit and full of awesome shit. This is only ever an end-up bar for me, so I assume there are some other redeeming qualities, I just don’t know what they are.

Why would this bar sell us beers at 5 to closing and then tell us it’s last call and we need to leave. WTF!!! Lame ass shit. I wouldn’t be upset if they had not sold us drinks. Can you please not sell drinks when your closing, you make a bad situation for your staff and customers.

This is a great dive bar! Extremely cheap drinks, but they are strong! There’s pool tables, a great patio area with heating lamps, and a juke box for a great music of tunes. Love this place!

great bar! food is cheap and yummy!!! I love that they serve jalapeño poppers(cream cheese) and they give you a bunch! kitchen opens at 6 pm(except on Mondays) and stays open till closing time… very laid back environment, love to go here for beer and fried food especially. The patio is really well stocked with chairs and benches and i love how divey the inside is… pool table, pinball, jukebox etc… must try!

It’s Everly thing you’d expect from family. Good days, bad days. It’s your favorite cousin Happy Hour to 9pm then it slowly turns into drunk uncle which its necessarily bad, you just might not be in the mood for him that day. But for me there’s always someone I’m happy to see which always makes that place in that monent exactly where I needed to be. A patron for 20yrs and running.

Always love to start my night at the OT to grab a few cheap beers. The scene brings out some strange humans but beer and bar tender wise it’s the spot.

Rude surly busser thick angry blond please never be in the presence of customers you lack the emotional intelligence to ever properly interface with other humane beings let alone foster a business.

This place definitely knows how to make a great drink. The watermelon jollyrancher is the best

My girlfriend and her friends were drunk and wandering Midtown/Downtown one night and stumbled across this place so one could use the restroom, and they also saw the food menu and figured it was cheap. They then wandered away. Tonight I wandered around with my girlfriend to try to find this place again since they couldn’t remember where it was, and we found it so that we could try their food. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger(since burgers are my thing) and I gotta be honest. I am not a drinker, and it’s not a place I’d ever go again by myself, but if I was with friends and they mentioned wanting to find a place to get a drink and some food, I would definitely recommend this place. The burger wasn’t «to die for», but it was actually pretty good for being from some hole in the wall dive bar. I also got a «green salad» with my burger, which was basically a couple pieces of lettuce and some tomato bits they didn’t put in my burger, so that part was kinda lame, but the burger made up for it.

I have been here more times than I can count! This is the perfect dive bar to hang out and get your drink on! Beers are cheap and shots are cheaper. All the bartenders always know what im going to get and have it for me right after i walk in the door. The clientele can be interesting from time to time. Its not the nicest bar in Sac by far however its a good place to be a regular! The only thing i wouldnt suggest is dropping a deuce here. If you come in make sure to give Buddy a french fry or ten.

OT! That’s what the regulars call it. ;) You never disappoint with your stiff drinks & dirt cheap prices. I’ve come here a few times with friends and it’s your typical dive bar experience with good drinks and a shitty juke box. My most recent experience is St. Patricks day, my friend and I went into here because the drinks are so cheap. Every where else that day had«drink specials» we were paying $ 6 for beer and $ 6 for Jameson shots, I paid $ 6 for both beer and Jameson! Cannot beat that price, especially since that’s the regular price. Heaven! They have one pool table, a juke box and kick ass bartenders who know how to pour a decent drink. $ 20 bucks goes a long way here, I will definitely always suggest OT for bar hop nights.

This is the place that finds me when I’m not looking for it. It’s got«your dads old garage» feel and I’m ok with that. I am actually though rally enjoying myself. Jute box and Sierra Nevada. They have a pool table and an outside patio. Smokers welcome. Yiiii

So we usually start here to get cheap drinks play some good music on the juke box(from 80′ music, old school to hip hop) always a mixed crowed but chill environment. Gross bathrooms, cool outside area, also have a small kitchen in the back that sell tacos that everyone likes, I personally never had. A cool dive bar in downtown sac, best thing about this place is my usual $ 5 Hennessy & cokes. Yasss!

I like Old Tavern because you can buy cheap drinks, use your ATM, get money back and not pay any extra fees. Usually the big burly men that work there, who I’m pretty sure are part of some biker gang, will ask how much I want back and I’ll get it. Despite the seedy crowd, myself included, the kitchen is small but produces very good late evening munchies. My favorite is the grilled cheese hamburger… I think it comes with fries but it’s hard to remember… it was pretty late at night. It’s just really affordable. They have some cool outdoor seating/lighting. Questionable clientele but the staff pulls it through. Oh yea, per another reviewer… don’t look up.

Sadly this place has lost it’s charm. Last time I came here the rude sweaty heavy set bartender kept COUGHING all over my beer when he was pouring it and handing it to me. I know people get sick but for God sake at least try to cover your cough. I got my beer and left it on a table and me and my friends left to another bar across the street.

This place has a lot of character and is what you expect out of a dive bar. Drinks are cheap, but boy do they fill them to the max with actual liquor. My first drink was a tequila sunrise and it’s by far the strongest one I have ever been served at any bar! Only $ 3 bucks! If you don’t have cash, you will have to use your debit card and be charged $ 20 for your purchase. You will get cash back minus the cost of the drink/s.

Tonight my friends and I went to Old Tavern. We were so excited about the cheap drinks and the good food. The old world look and relaxed atmosphere seemed welcoming in many respects. On top of that the drinks are strong and cheap and the bartenders are fast! If you want a party on a Saturday night with jovial and open people, this is the place for you! We were especially excited to try the grilled cheese and fries, the pizza, etc. However when we asked the kitchen what time they open the cook yelled at us «Can’t you read the sign??? Jesus give me 10 minutes!.» So we left and went over to another place. Old Tavern owners… I suggest hiring people who are happy to work and serve it’s patrons. I was excited about discovering this place and now I feel unwelcome.
