Fairly certain my girlfriend whom left my side for about 30 minutes got drugged. She was hanging out with one of the DJ’s who works there and another friend of his, I went to get her and he handed me her drink back. The next thing I knew she was passed out from hardly ANYTHING to drink. We took her to the ER in the morning due to vomiting and dehydration(This lasted a long time and started RIGHT as we left), and she remembers NOTHING. If you like shady rapists, check this place out. Don’t turn your back. Another customer did it… perhaps, an employed person or friend of someone employed… perhaps. If I knew for sure? Someone would be out of business and in jail. Aside from that experience, it was small and cramped, nothing too incredible. Just a small typical hip bar with hip tunes. Not bad, nor good.

I was just here the other night and I can’t believe how awesome this place is! It’s got some bartenders with serious cocktail cred that still know how to throw back a few shots and the space is perfect for hanging out any night of the week. There was a DJ playing named«DJ One Star» who was outrageously amazing and this was on a Tuesday! Get that guy back !!

This dive bar has a very laid back and cool atmosphere. Props to the DJ last night for playing the funky 70’s soul beats! It was pretty crowded for a Thursday night and every booth and bar stool was taken. The bartenders did a great job of engaging us folks that were lurking behind the people sitting down at the bar. I ordered two old-fashions that came out to $ 16.00. There was a steady flow of patrons going in and out so we didn’t have to wait too long to snag some seating. There is no food served here which makes it a great after dinner or pre-party spot to grab drinks.

After the Monte Carlo has obsoleted several years ago, I decided to come to this new place located between 15th& S Streets in Sacramento. This 1970s to 1980s retro dive bar named: «B-Side» brings the time machine vibe for experience live DJ musics all night long especially their finest selection of drinks available upon for your request. The atmosphere is very divey and dark inside filled with some delightful customers to make it entertaining for everyone. The concept as I mentioned earlier, is very old schooled stereo production made filled with wooden designs & furnitures, dimmed lights, classic vinyl records, and much more! The bartenders are doing a fine job for making the customers like me a great service! This bartender named Benny is such a wicked man! He make this place and customers more eye-poppin’ than I’ve never seen it before especially showing me some upcoming DJ events in their calendar upon for my response! Since this place has no drinks menu on it, you can ask a bartender by making any types of drinks you want from beer to wine including cocktails and mixed drinks. I did ordered a glass of Track 7 Pale Ale; a local brewery beer from Sacramento. Such a refreshing drink. For the music, they mostly played the songs of the 1970s and the 1980s every day during business hours. Of course, in some particular nights, they have special DJ guests to get this retro party started too! I haven’t been to their DJ mix night for a while, so I’ll might be back in the next visits or so to try it out. Parking at the B-Side can be challenging. You can park it at their mini lot, surface street parking, or the nearest parking garage if it’s possible. Otherwise, you can ride a bike, walk, or use public transportation easier without the hassles. All in all, B-Side is the finest, and hippiest late 20th Century feel dive bar that I always enjoyed for the first time. Perfect for night outs with your coolest friends! A worthy visit! My rating: 4 solid stars.

Complaints: I wasn’t happy with the autistic hipster bartender(with bonus tat sleeve and man-bun) who was more concerned with talking up fat girls instead of pouring drinks. This place is an embarrassment to dives across the country. Service is garbage, layout is bad. They are peddling the same«craft cocktails» as every other joint in town since the markup is 1000% of cost. The OG Monte Carlo Club weeps softly Likes: Close to my residence. I’m a long time neighborhood resident who won’t take this hipster BS moving in without my approval. I hate this shit hole but I’m still gonna come on occasion because I’m fuckin crazy like that. Get off my lawn!

I really wanted to love this bar because of it’s creativity and details that went into the design. This is a little dive bar sort of away from all the bars. There isn’t much around here but they have a little parking lot, which is a plus. I have been here twice, once when they first opened and second time last Friday. This place is small and way too crowded. Even with the bouncers monitoring the crowd by letting patrons in one or few at a time base on people leaving. It feels overcrowded because the place is so one dimensional. The drinks are reasonability priced and you get good service. Maybe when it’s not overly packed I will enjoy it more.

My new favorite dive bar in Sacramento! The service is great! The bartenders are quick to get to you and get you your drinks and the seating/atmosphere is fun but intimate at the same time. Great job guys!

Ahhhh! I’m so conflicted about how many stars to give this place. I found it on opening weekend by accident. It was just about 2PM so it was empty and BEAUTIFUL! I love the décor and the wood countertops are incredible. There’s quite a bit of seating for such a small place and let’s be real, the place looks like a giant record player… How cool is that? It gives off this vibe that it’s going to take you back in time to a simpler day. **For a place to have an atmosphere that makes you feel like that, wow! Before I continue I want to say, I’m 29 and still very much in the social scene. I’m not some old lady who can’t handle loud music and crowds. I was just looking forward to a different option. My conflict? I went there my second time on a Monday night with about 7 friends thinking it would be sort of low key. I’m an AVID record collector and love the mellow sound of records vs. loud«club» music. Boy was I wrong. Not only was it not mellow, the music was so loud I could feel it in my chest. The place was packed to the gills with people smoking cigarettes right in front of the door practically blocking the ramp to get in. I was so crushed. I know collecting records is super«hip» and trendy these days but I actually loved this place because I like the idea of a chill hang out with the sound of a record playing. It’s more of a DJ spinning extremely loud house music. :| It was hard to get drinks but they did have some good beer options. The bartenders weren’t particularly friendly the second time I went in but that seems to be the trend with these«hipster» scene places these days. Shady Lady(the other establishment this owner runs) has the most pretentious bartenders in midtown, so I can’t say I’m surprised. Apparently making a good Kraft cocktail, means you have to think you’re better than your customer. I’ll give this place a third shot, and then update my review… But as for now it’s just another on the list of «I probably won’t go cause it’s too hard to get a drink and not so fun while you wait.»

Nice update to the old hardcore Monte Carlo. Now it’s cleaned up, has some decent local art, has funky old school movies, and is music themed. On weekend nights they have a DJ spinning, the rest of the time it’s whatever viniyl the barkeep likes or Pandora. Last night they had Pandora going with an eclectic 80’s mix, and then the server played The Kinks — Give the People What they Want. Nice, need to dig that one out again. Good service. Friendly staff. Nice interior. Beautiful pine bar. Haven’t tried the booths yet. On the TVs they play old movies — Death Race 2000 and The Evil Dead Army of Darkness while we were there. One Disappointment: Only three beer taps: Oly, Dos Equis(shudder), and Panic(yeah!). Four or five more choices in bottles. Come on, we have 10 breweries within 10 miles — how about some more local choices? Two Complaints: 1) They look closed from the outside. With no neon OPEN sign, the minimal lighting, and tightly closed blinds it is impossible to know if they are open or closed without peeking inside. 2) No food. There is a new Roxy deli nearby though, as well as all the R-Street joints. This was my second try, and I’ll be back. It’s a cool spot.

Thank goodness. Whenever I went into the Monte Carlo I was worried that someone was going to pistol whip me. Not this place. Drinks are solid and the vibe is fun. Can be really young a hipster… Which is fine enough. No a pistol whipping crowd.

Welcome B-side! I should also say thank you for bringing a fun, welcoming environment along with a respect for it’s predecessor(Monte Carlo’s stained glass sign hangs on the right corner of the bar). Deets: Happy Hour is from 3−6pm Food Trucks are in the works Postmates and outside food welcomed. DJ’s are provided — sorry no volunteers Enjoy!

This place is amazing. I frequent allot of midtown bars but this place takes the cake. Bartending staff is amazing. The bartender girl Sam knew how to make all my favorite cocktails and made me feel at home. Definitely inpressed with their selection and collection of vinyl records. A must visit location when you visit Midtown.

Nothing like the old Monte Carlo. Crowd and décor has changed. Nice small place to come and have a drink. There’s no menus, just tell the bartender what you want and they’ll make it. The décor was nice, definitely gave that 80’s vibe.

The same brilliant team who brought you Shady Lady and Fieldhouse scrapped the scuzz off the defunct Monte Carlo, added a record theme, and busted the doors open on B-Side. But don’t come here for the same level of culinary and libation excellence, because there’s no fancy cocktail list and no kitchen to be found here. B-Side is a back to the basics, stripped down dive bar… and that’s all I was hoping it would be. I don’t know if it’s all just for opening weekend but there’s a DJ in the corner booth spinning the danciest, dorkest 70s and 80s LPs, the bartenders are enthusiasticly dancing along, they’re playing Flash Gordon on the 2 TVs behind the bar, and $ 10 got me 2 strong mixed drinks and a shot. Funk. Yes. B-Side, keep this glory up. You’ll be seeing a lot of me.
