Our church, Trinity Folsom, needed speaker cloth and we had not been able to locate it. Joey was able to order exactly what we needed and stayed late so I could pick it up the day it arrived. It is well worth the drive down town to shop at Profound Sound. Louise C.

Hole-in-the-wall shop with the kind of service that is reserved for kings. I had a couple of small items I wanted for an old guitar and the owner treated me like I was there to buy his entire inventory. His prices are ridiculously low for quality merchandise. He sold me a guitar stand, a set of strings, a handful of guitar picks, and tried to give me change for my $ 20. Crazy.

I really appreciate little local hole-in-the-wall businesses like Profound Sound. They usually have a speciality and the staff and inventory to support it that means it’s well worth bypassing the big chain outlets and supporting a small business. However, if you don’t have what I need, it sort of defeats the purpose. I would never have known about this place unless the clerk at Brook’s record store in Old Town recommended it to me. I was looking for a phono pre-amp(amplifies the sound of a record player through a receiver) and was finding it surprisingly hard to find. Apparently this type of equipment isn’t in high demand anymore. Go figure. Anyway, I stepped into the shop and it’s basically like stepping into someone’s garage. Someone, that is, who makes it a hobby to tinker and refurbish old music equipment. There are some fabulous finds here if you know what to look for and probably some better deals than elsewhere. But they didn’t have a basic piece of equipment like a phono pre-amp, and for that reason they couldn’t give me the service I was looking for. Maybe it was just my visit, but the guy who runs the place seemed a little crotchety. He did recommend a couple places I could go to though and was helpful in that sense. I liked Profound Sound and would consider going again depending on my needs.

This is place is hard to believe it’s so full of goods and services. Fair, quick, and a range of services beyond belief. You’ll also get connected to people and places you’ll want to know about, if Profound Sound wants to connect you. Although they themselves can do practically anything.

This little music store is absolutely fantastic. The staff are so kind and very helpful and are willing to give free informational stuff away. The shop is a bit cluttered but, the staff is friendly and the prices can not be beaten. They will usually mark down the prices which is super amazing! This is a small but wonderful shop for the average musician.

Profound Sound is a a used music equipment store that loves used music equipment. Buy, Sell, or Trade… you will always get a fair deal. Not only does this shop have the used gear musicians want, it also has the trusted knowledge musicians need. The total rock and roll experience cant be had at GC. Its here at Profound Sound and I’m sure glad theyre back open in Sacramento. Its like having a bay area used gear store right here in midtown!

Recommended. Joey is an absolute repository of knowledge about music gear. Everything a musician needs can be had or ordered here. Great selection of vintage gear. A little tough to find, a little cramped inside, but does not have that«I know I’m paying more for the slick presentation» feel, the way Guitar Center does. Local owned, local supported.

This is my favorite kind of music store. Parts, used gear, and an owner who knows his stuff. You won’t get a blank stare when you go in lookig for a rare piece of gear or even just a part. If you are a vintage gear hound like I am this is your music store.

I purchased a Sovtek mig100 bass amp from Profound Sound many years ago and brought it back to the shop for a jack replace and tube check. For a minimal price my amp sounds better than new .I am really happy !!!

I went in, because my brother told me I needed to buy new strings for my guitar. I talked to the owner of the place, and he told me I just needed to tune the guitar. He tuned it for me. I ended up buying a tuner, and I’m very satisfied with it. This will be my go-to place for guitar stuff.

This shop is a hidden gem. Vintage guitars-vintage pedals– cool analog gear– drums– bass– old amps. Music books– I can stay gab with the owner for hours, he’s personable– he will fix any vintage combo amp you are serious about buying. Cool interesting gear. Owner is a walking encyclopedia of gear.

I needed some guitar strings ASAP and didn’t want to go all the way to Guitar Center, so I decided to stop by here after some searching for nearby stores. Since I only went in for some strings, this will be a short review, but I liked my experience here. Pack of NOS strings are $ 4 or less, and new sets cost about $ 6. Joey was a really friendly guy, and I will definitely be coming back here again for my guitar needs.

As the discription indicates, this store has a hands on owner that will assist you in everyway! The store is a treasure of hard to find used gear. The location is easy to reach and the advise, is concerned. When I am looking for gear, I start here!

Serendipity. Though syllables from that word sound like portions of «Zippity-Doo-Dah», a song from Disney’s Song of the South, the word means an occurrence or beneficial chance development. Zippity-Doo-Dah was covered by a few different bands, including the Kingsmen, Freddie and the Dreamers, Paula Abdul, and even the Jackson Five. And you know what bands need in order to cover songs? Instruments and equipment. Of which Profound Sound has. It’s not a huge store like Guitar Center or American Music. It’s not easy to spot from the street, either. You gotta look for Midtown Furniture and More, and instead of heading right into the furniture store, head left into the music shop. However, what you’ll find in here is a couple dudes who play and love music. You’ll find a bunch of amps, some guitars and basses, some drumkits, and a whole bunch of electronics. The salesguy won’t drive you crazy like GC, and there probably won’t be some wannabe guitarist showing off his chops in the corner for an hour. So, next time you get a hankering to cover an old Disney tune, zip over here and get your gear.
