Rainbow Day Care Center

Have been very pleased with Rainbow. We’ve had our little one here since she was 9 months and she’s over 3 now. The staff are caring and the location is convenient.

My son has been with Rainbow Daycare for 2 months now since he was 5 months old. I did a lot of research and toured several daycares in the downtown area before finally choosing Rainbow Daycare. My criteria for selecting a daycare were: 1) friendly, capable, trustworthy staff 2) clean, bright facility and 3) reasonable price. I especially appreciate the daily feedback provided by the staff on his daily activities and the genuine interest they exhibit in seeing him thrive. Overall, Rainbow Daycare fit the bill on all of my needs and my son seems very happy there.

Staff are very professional, high caregiver to child ratios, well organized management. Awesome playground on the inside of the building protected from the street in an open air atrium. Excellent food program. Excellent transition program as the child moves from one age group class on up. They have a full day pre K program, much better than public school pre K program. It’s also a nice well run COOP, so parents are move involved in their child’s daycare. Our child is doing great there.

The staff at Rainbow Day Care Center are very friendly. I was able to get all of my questions answered and felt confident that if I chose RDCC that my children would be well taken care of.
If I am in need of child care in the future, I will keep Rainbow in mind.

Our daughter has been at Rainbow for about 10 months now and she is doing great after a rough start with some separation anxiety. Everything I’ve seen from the staff has been great. The compassion they show makes me feel like my child is in good hands at Rainbow.

Our daughter is enrolled in the purple class at Rainbow and just started there two months ago. I like the low student-​teacher ratios, low teacher turnover, good nutritious meals included, and preschool curriculum. Most importantly the school follows positive discipline that uses positive reinforcement and redirection etc. (ask them for more info on this as they are great at describing it). Many other day cares I had issue with because they followed someone elses philosophy and could barely explain what that philosophy meant. This was very important to our family because we want our children to build internal motivations and want to avoid negative reinforcements. The school has a good balance of structure for kids while letting them explore with lots of creativity and fun. It’s a parent coop which allows you to feel involved without taking up a lot of your time. If you are considering day cares, I would definitely take a tour of Rainbow and see if it’s right for your family.

My daughter is enrolled here in the «Blue Class» under Misses Jenny and Jessica. This is the Pre-​K class; although Rainbow Daycare has full time daycare, they also have preschool components. Preschool covers numbers, letters, some science, and lots of art. The kids really get to explore and pretend and be part of the school.
There is also an infant-​toddler room, a class for the 2 y.o. children, and the class for the 3 y.o. children. There is seamless transition, and all of the children have a chance to interact and play with each other. This is an amazing experience for my daughter, who is an only child.
We love Rainbow Daycare. The parents are required to complete participation hours, which is fun. The school is well-​managed and small enough to accomodate special requests personally. I also really like the snacks.
We loved our previous daycare (it closed down), but the biggest beef I had with them were the snacks and meals, and then they cut their lunch program. My kid always brought the most ridiculously healthy brown bag lunches. At Rainbow? I don’t even worry! Their meals include veggies and fruit, whole grains, and they’ve even had families bring special items to share with others (we brought a pile of seaweed rice crackers and edamame.)
I also truly appreciate the diversity in staff ethnic make up and culture. It brings different traditions together and helps kids explore other cultural elements as well as helping children feel «part of something» because they are so open and welcoming, and because «different» is the norm. I love it!
I will be sad when we leave to have her attend kindergarten, but I know that with the care and teaching at her school now, she will be quite prepared for what is to come in her future.
Also, Rainbow Day Care is very flexible for scheduling. We pay $ 660 for 4 days a week for one child (we are furloughing state workers with most Fridays off.) We find this affordable, though it’s more than what we paid before for full time. It’s also closer to our offices, which means we all commute to and from downtown together!
