Location was closed like out of business closed! So annoying this is the third time we have tried to go to a location we found on Unilocal and the location was no longer in business.

CLOSED! I used to love this place and that’s why I was excited even a old friends and I found ourselves back in town and decided to see if it was still awesome. Sadly, it is closed indefinitely(no reopening date mentioned in the sign)

They added new items to their menu, one of which is a Szechuan Beef Noodle soup that I tried today. Two words: OMG delicious!!! Slightly spicy but richly flavored beef broth with melt-in-your-mouth beef slices swimming with egg noodles. From now on, I will be torn between their delicious dinner combos and their beef noodle soup whenever I drop by.

This place reminds me of the Chinese food in Chinatown in Oakland. Inexpensive, tasty, and just how I like it when I am looking for something on the cheap. Now mind you, this is not a great Chinese restaurant, but it is a great cheap and quick chinese take out. I give it 4 stars because it is good as a cheap and quickie Chinese. The garlic chicken is not that cruddy deep fried junk, but the real garlic chicken, with garlicy sauce, and no batter. The noodles are tasty and the curry chicken was good too. The little old lady behind the counter totally takes me back to my youth in Chinatown.

$ 6.99 for their combo box thingy. All these reviews say they give big portions, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much they gave! The box has some considerable height to it, so you get tonsss of food, about 1 and a half times more than Panda Express. Grand Master Sue is really sweet and she is always talking to the customers. I asked if she had any bowls so I could split the food with someone, and she spent a while looking through their stuff and got out a plastic bowl, clearly not meant to hand out to customers, and I told her repeatedly that she didn’t have to do that, but she insisted, and she even went to go wash it out for me. Such a nice woman. The fried rice is ok and the chow mein was kinda too swelled up one of the times I came. As people have said, the combo comes with two egg rolls, an entrée of your choice, and fried rice and/or chow mein. The orange chicken is really good. Their teriyaki chicken was kinda meh… This place is fantastic because of its value, not so much its taste, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t taste good; just not what you might expect at a fine, sit-down Chinese restaurant. And yeah, downside is that they take cash only.

I’m a girl who loves her noodles and I have to agree with another reviewer that Rickshaw Ricks serves, quite possibly, the best chow mein I’ve ever eaten. I got the $ 8 dinner special– which comes with 2 egg rolls, chow mein or fried rice, and a soda– with Beef & Onion over rice. The chow mein was pitch perfect and the beef & onion was saucy savory scrumptiousness. The portions are very generous for the price, my styrofoam container was stuffed. I bought the meal for dinner Friday night and it took assorted munching throughout the rest of the weekend to polish it off! A few things to know: — Cash only. — It’s a dive, so it will not astound you with ambience. — The counter lady *may* come off a bit weird. Some Asian women(I say this having asian relatives and being privy to this) have that tone of voice that always makes them sound vaguely pissed off. The counter lady had this tone plus it was a busy weekend night, so getting my food order correct took a bit of patience. Given the awesomeness of the food, TOTALLY worth it. Rickshaw Ricks is a hidden gem of a Chinese dive. The next time you encounter a line out the door at Great Wall Mongolian BBQ, walk next door and give Ricks a try!

I’ll start of that the ambiance is very simple and plain. The food is really eeasonable for the quality and super cheap for the portion size. I had the general chicken a rich and tasty chicken. You can tell the chicken is hand breaded and moist. Not like most chinese places with some form of chicken frozen nugget. I was truly impressed. Avery huge portion for 7.50(dinner). The noodles wereth days side I chose and normal chowmein style noddle dry and basic. They were good with the sauce from the chicken though. The plate comes with 2 egg rolls, they were super fresh and flaky. Only filled with cabage and poss a few carrots, simple but good. Overall, very fast and great quality… Great price as well. I will definitely be back.

Awesome price for the daily special. 7.52 gets you a drink, entrée, fried rice/chow mein, and 2 eggrolls. But with that price, the quality suffers. The person I was dining with couldn’t finish their meal because it was overly salted and they are a human food processor so I was totally surprised! Sweet and sour pork is a safe choice. It’s the standard but the onions were very strong amd the pineapples overpowered everything else. Fried rice was unseasoned and the cabbage in the eggrolls had a very atrong flavor which I actually liked. If the price were any higher, I would be giving it a one star rating, but at this price point it is around average. It’s safe to say I won’t be coming back, which is sad because the lady behind the counter was so sweet. Come here if you want super cheap food but come with low expectations.

I came here for the first time the other and I enjoyed my visit and food! I was skeptical at first coming here because I haven’t been here before. However, my coworker bought food and raved about how they serve large portions at an affordable price. I wanted to check it out for myself. When I went here, the lady that works there was really nice and friendly. I got the meal special for $ 6.99. It came with 1 entrée, fried rice or chowmein, two eggrolls, and a fountain drink. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. It seemed like the chicken was made to order which i enjoyed! Once I got my food, I was astonished of how much food i got for the pricei paid for. I ate some of my plate and had enough for leftovers for 3 more meals. Afterwards I felt satisfied and also sleepy after eating chinese food. Bring cash because they do not accept credit card. I would definitely come back again if I am craving chinese food during my lunch.

I wish this place had more pictures. I wanted shrimps, but they had like 8 different shrimp plates. I didn’t know how to pick. However, I did ordered the Kung Pow Shrimp, lunch special order. It was like 6 bucks, and they PACK your plate! It was enough to feed three grown man. It was packed with chow mien and veggies… and SOME shrimps. My order was okay… BUT my coworkers did ordered the original chicken, which was pretty good. Tasted like orange chicken. I think I would come back for the cheap lunch, but I would order the chicken next time. It’s something familiar. Costumer Service: Sweet little lady takes your order and brings them to you. I think she’s the owner.

Low price for a literal mountain of food. The lunch special(at the time of this writing) runs at $ 6.99 and gets you your choice of chow mein or fried rice(can do a half-and-half option) and a very healthy serving of your choice of entrée. Also comes with two egg rolls. Oh and it comes with a fountain soda. Come here if you are hungry out of your mind and are craving some decent Chinese food.

Rickshaw Ricks is a tucked away restaurant located in a plaza that doesn’t seem like they receive a high volume of business traffic. Due to their location if are not using Unilocal,or looking for this place by sight of eye you might find yourself driving right by and missing it. When you finally arrive you will notice that the establishment isn’t really that attractive to the human eye, and may make any customer skeptical on if their food will be any good. I have never been here before and I was on the fence with this place cause of all the other reviews and what they mentioned. After my first visit I was able to come to my own solid opinion and review about this location and their food. Right off the bat the lady who works the cashier is very inviting and welcomes you into their store, so service is polite. Since it was my first time at this location I had to inquire about their selection, the lady was helpful on mentioning which dish is popular and which other options would be suiting to my choice in preferring a chicken entrée. I went with Sweet and Sour chicken, and she mentioned how their popular dish was General Chicken. Since I had General Chicken at another location a few days before, I wanted to switch it up and try something else. When ordering, their special caught my eye by seeing how low they charged only $ 7.52 including tax. With that cost you get the main entrée, chow mein, fried rice, 2 egg rolls, and a fountain drink. With everything that comes in their special you feel like you’re robbing the place only paying that much. I ordered to go and began to enjoy the meal when I arrived at home, well so it seemed. The quality of the food in all honesty reminded me of when I would eat Chinese food in high school. It was full filling, but at the same time you didn’t feel well after consuming their food. I didn’t get sick, but I definitely didn’t feel energetic or healthy afterwards. Could have been because either the quantity or the meal, or because the quality of the food isn’t that healthy. I know you will probably think to yourself, what Chinese food is healthy. But I have been to other locations where I was able to enjoy my meal and after consumption I would be able to walk away feeling better. Definitely if you’re looking for value this is your go to spot. But after eating don’t be surprised if you don’t feel like doing anything for the rest of the day and you find yourself waiting for the food to get through your digestive system. I might try this place again, but definitely going with another choice in entrée selection.

I ordered the $ 6.99 daily special. I got the the beef broccoli which is pretty tasty, the rice was super bland the soy sauce couldn’t save it. :(The chow main was decent and the egg rolls are pretty damn good. The food is cheap and you get a lot of it. The man the took my order was very polite too.

This place is awesome! I have been driving by here for years, always swearing I would go someday, if for no other reason that it had an amazing name. Finally made it over the weekend, and it was every bit as wonderful as I hoped! A friend and I planned to get two entrees and fried rice and split, but the friendly older lady working the counter(Rick?) showed us that the lunch special was cheaper and came with more food. Bingo — Thanks Rick! General chicken and mongolian beef, with noodles and fried rice, all in dinosaur portions, and all delicious. We even got 4 spring rolls as well, though neither of us like those(my wife got the leftovers and said they were excellent). AND, to top it all off, Rick herself gave us a 6 cent discount because were so handsome and charming! And also because they were running out of coins and didn’t want to give us 94 cents in change. Booyah! I want to make a special note that I almost never like chow mein noodles, but the ones my buddy ordered with fantastic — very savory and plentiful, and with NOBEANSPROUTS! Man, those things are the bane of my existence… they’re so tricky, camouflaging themselves like noodles until you bite into them and you get that sickening«crunch.» Anyway, conclusion: noodles = scrumptious. Seriously, there was enough food for both of us(two growing boys/men) to stuff our faces and bellies and still have left for dinner that evening — and all for $ 6.99 each. I can’t wait to go back!

it’s solid good chinese food at an affordable price; My date and I each made the mistake of choosing the daily special… an entrée dish and rice and chow mein, shrimps, and egg rolls. soda um… My one styroforam box of chinese food could have fed an entire family. I kid you not. I ate at the restaurant… then leftovers… then I could have eaten it two more times. Sheesh! I liked the chow mein just fine, it could have had a few more veggies but I’m not complaining. I like the sweet and sour pork, the sauce was a tad thick for my liking, but good. General chicken was okay but I like something with a bit more spice. I’m sure next time they can direct me to a different dish in that realm. I did thank our female cashier and the chef back there saw me and I threw him a peace sign. He said thank you. I like casual places with staff that are«with it».

Ok, this review is long overdue. I’ve been going to this place since ’95, when I was attending Sac State. I used to come to this place all the time, they had their $ 4.50 combo plates where we used to get«half and half»(chow mein and fried rice) and a choice of entre from the menu board. After taking a 10 yr hiatus from this place,(not by choice, I settled down in the burbs and this place is a drive from Lincoln), I came here about a month ago. I can honestly say that not much has changed, this brings back lots of good memories of hangover cures and ashtray-change-scrounging for lunch money. I had their dinner special for around 6 bucks, I opted for all fried rice and Garlic chicken for my entrée, the chicken was VERY garlic-y…which doesn’t bother me at all, I loved it. They used all white meat, which is a big bonus. It also came with 2 egg rolls and 4 fried shrimp… I ate probably about ¼ of it and had enough for leftovers for the next 3 meals!!! I’ve started going to school in downtown Sac again and will be adding this place to my list of stops . This is no gourmet restaurant, but you really can’t beat the value! I hope this place stays around for another 20 yrs!

Shhh! Don’t tell my BF but I went here today and broke(once again) the eat healthy rule. I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. I have passed it a millions times in my life and never knew what kind of food they served until I looked it up on Unilocal.I had such a pleasant experience that I will definitely be visiting time and time again. The hours are a little odd. They open for lunch, then close, then open again at 5pm for the dinner crowd. I arrived, unknowing to the hours, at 4:40, pulled on the door and found it locked. I was confused and peeked inside. I saw a woman behind the counted who began waving and smiling at me and giving me gestures that she is going to unlock the door for me. That’s when I saw the business hours and thought, Damn, I’m going to have to wait here for 20min for them to open. grrr. But nope, A man came over and let me in 20 min before opening. This I loved. The woman at the front counter was very nice. She talked to me about the weather and made other small chat. I ordered the dinner special which is ridiculously priced at $ 6.99 for your choice of meat, rice or noodles, two egg rolls, five fried shrimp, and a beverage!!! I became nervous thinking there has to be a catch for this food to be so cheap! After I ordered I noticed that hated sign that reads«Cash only» I said a ton of expletives in my head because I hate cash only places. I never have cash on me. The woman pointed out that there was a ATM machine across the way, so while she started cooking my food I took a stroll to the ATM, said even more curse words as I accepted the $ 3.00 with drawl fee and walked back. After paying, I sat and eavesdropped on the table of boys across from me talk about who had seen Toy Story 3.(ha ha) Looking around the place I noticed that it’s very basic as far as décor goes, but I don’t really rate on stuff like that unless I’m looking for a place that is supposed to be all ritzy and foofy. After all, I would much rather go into a shabby place to eat great food then go into a place that is cute in all its décor and eat mediocre food. Any who, the woman brought over my food and I left. I got home opened the box and dropped my mouth open at the sight of all the food before me! It was HUGE! SOMUCHKUNGPOWCHICKEN, 5SHRIMP, TWOEGGROLLS, A MOUNTAINOFCHOWMIEN! I changed into my stretchy pants and watched my soap opera on hulu, eating all this deliciousness. The egg rolls were so good. The cabbage and carrots inside had texture to them, it wasn’t just a bunch of mush wrapped up into a crisp package like I’m used to receiving else where. The shrimp had the tails cut off, which I prefer, because I hate when I bite down on the tail of a shrimp. The chow mien wasn’t greasy(yet another thing I’m used to receiving at a Chinese restaurant) The Kung Pow chicken was also very good. A little salty but very flavorful. I loved seeing all the chilies and seeds on my meat, I also loved the whole peanuts they tossed in as well. It wasn’t too spicy and yet had a good kick to it. 5 star service 5 star prices 10 star portions(could have easily fed 2 – 3 people on one dinner special.) 4 star food(I say four rather then 5 simply because it was, like I said, a little bit more salty then I prefer) I’m happy I finally try this place because this will now be my go to Chinese spot whenever the mood strikes me. Just remember, CASHONLY! =)
