Spencer’s Frameworks

Terry is absolutely one-​of-​a-​kind. She’s been in business – in the same location – for over 30 years. She knows her craft. She takes special care with each piece of art she’s been entrusted with. Not only that, but she’s a wonderful woman to talk with: You walk in, and you are automatically welcomed. She’s so personable. Agreed – not the cheapest of all framers. But who wants cheap when you can have quality and care?

I can’t believe I never noticed this place in all the years I have been driving down Freeport; then again I am watching the traffic that is always heavy, and when I have come to this strip mall, I have approached from the opposite direction and stayed at the other end.
When I did spot this place and went in to check it out I met the propritor Terry Spencer, I asked how long the business had been there … 40 years was the answer. Wow, she must be doing something right, and the examples of her work that I saw looked to be done with care.
I looked around and liked the assortment of frames from several different suppliers allowing for a lot of style choice. She had what I considered especially nice, ornate, old fashioned frames that would be excellent for framing antique family photos or portraits.

I’ve used Spencer’s Frameworks for years, and completely agree with all the previous comments. Go meet Terry — you’ll understand why we all feel this way!

I have been taking original art work to Terry Spencer for about 20 years (probably longer). She has always provided good counsel in selecting mats and frames, though she just presents options and follows the lead of her client; no heavy handed advice. I have always been pleased with the outcome, especially for my own original watercolors. And given a challenge, she will not only rise to the occasion, but handle special projects with extreme care and respect. She knows her craft and executes it skillfully. I would not go elsewhere and have at least 100 pieces of art that have been enhanced by Terry’s work!

Terry Spencer, the owner, has been around for a long time and is an artist who is TRULY in her element when framing. I cannot say how happy I have been with her craft. She knows how to choose color, mats and, especially, frames to compliment those special pieces that will add POP to your house. If you go to the cheaper stores, your pieces will look that way. Trust me, no one can do frames better than Terry. I would not say she is expensive, because she is an artist and a true craftsman and you will value every piece she transforms. BTW, she has a WONDERFUL selection of gift cards that are truly unique and not expensive. All for that special occasion.

I’ve had my framing done at Michael’s, Aaron Brothers, and Coventry Framing. The knowledge and service at these places do not even compare to Spencer’s. Some people were born with a gift, Terry Spencer was born to mat and frame. She’s been in the business a long time now, and she has an eye for it; she will make your work look truly spectacular.
Though, I will warn you that it is expensive. But in my opinion, it’s worth it.
