Came here a couple times for dinner and about 5 – 6 more occasions for lunch. The dinner was mediocre and I didn’t even eat more then a slice of pizza and a bite of salad. In my opinion the service and food is worse at dinner … maybe it’s because the salad looked as though it was out all day long =\. Their lunch specials were an OK deal, a lot more on the pricey side but it was the only sit down pizza place I could go to that was close to my work. The service is SUPER slow during lunch as well … it is better then dinner’s service, but still S L O W. I usually get a pizza with a salad bar trip, and a group of us share an order of bread sticks. The salad is pretty basic, you get your choice of greens, dressings, toppings, etc … but at lunch they run out of things pretty fast and when you let them know to refill it, they take forever at doing that as well. All in all it seemed like the employees never cared. I guess in the end I’m not surprised that this place closed down, it sucks that we no longer have a place nearby to satisfy the craving of pizza, but it’s for the best since every time I left I regretted my meal. I’ll give it the 2 stars though for cleanliness and their Californian pizza.

I wrote this for a assignment for school, had to cut it short but i took the time to write so i thought it should be out there… My roommate and I went to Steve’s Place Pizza. She had suggested that we go there, but it was my first time visiting. I think the name is kinda strange, sounds like bad english, though I guess it’s okay. When we walked in there was only one other table seated in the restaurant. An elderly man at the cash register greeted us as we approached the counter. He took our order and was thorough getting our oder correct: a medium pizza with half white sauce, half red sauce and topped with onions, pineapple, and bacon. They had an impressive list of toppings; twenty seven in all, including some different ones like feta cheese, smoked gouda, fresh oregano, and cilantro. I walked by the salad bar and it looked good so I went back and got two small single serving bar plates. The salad greens were fresh and not wilted, they also had spinach which I chose. They had a good variety of toppings. While we waited for the pizza I looked around and noticed the place was in good shape and fairly clean. All of the tables and chairs were clean, and the floor looked good too. The décor was interesting, seems they were going for a rustic barn theme. The menu included the usual pizza joint stuff — like chicken wings, chicken fingers and garlic bread, but they also had a soup of the day(happened to be Southwest tortilla and chicken noodle). Sandwiches included meatball, and italian subs like normal, but also Philly cheese steak and and a chicken mushroom melt, not to mention cheese burgers! Other offerings included spaghetti with meatballs, and grilled chicken with broccoli alfedo or vegetable pesto. They were not very busy and our pizza came fast! Our receipt is time stamped 7:41 and we got our pizza by 7:51! The pie was hot and smelled good! The crust was light, fluffy, and pleasing. I asked and they make their own dough daily. The toppings were ample and well dispersed. The onions(red) were fresh and crisp, as well as the bacon. The pineapple was canned, I am sure, but still is my favorite pizza topping. I would say it was a decent price, twenty dollars, for what we got. It was not something amazing or special that I would go tell my friends about, just pizza, but I would not hesitate to go there again to get my pizza fix. The staff did not seem too busy. They did do a little cleaning that I saw, but there was not a lot of people in the joint. The restroom looked old, but well maintained(the corners and base boards were clean). They did not come and check on us during our meal, but when we asked for a box for the leftover pizza it was delivered promptly. As we were preparing to leave the restaurant, I watched an employee filling a bucket of water. As it was filling she was touching her hair and face, then preceded to take the full bucket to the back. I went around to see and she was cooking meat balls! She had left the sink area with out washing her hands and was cooking without washing her hands!!! EEEWWW! I asked the elderly man(a manager I assumed) about serve-safe training in the establishment, and he said employes filled out a packet upon getting hired. I chickened out on mentioning what I had just witnessed, but I wish I could know if they are checking up on employees and sanitation practices. The store did look clean and like it was maintained well which is a good sign. My boss always says if you take the time to clean corners, your probably taking time to clean the whole restaurant. As a whole I think the experience was a good one. I was fat and happy by the time left(keeping the sanitation thing out of my mind). I was not expecting a five star meal, but was pleasantly surprised with the variety and diversity of choices on the menu. I also could see that keeping the place clean and presentable was a goal. If you have a plan and are doing your best at enforcing it you get a gold star in my book. As a newly ServSafe certified employee of a restaurant I see things I did not before. In order to get all your employes doing things in a proper and safe way not only do you have to train them, you have to get them to care enough to follow through.

After the ownership changed in the last year of so, this place has gone downhill bigtime. I had to wait almost an hour for my food and there were only 2 other people in the store. This has happenenef several times where they forgot to make my food. The last time I ordered something, the pizza was burnt and the refunded my money cause it was made wrong. If this place was run better I would come here a few times a month. But they have let me down 3 – 4 times in a row and I’m not sure I’ll go back at this point.

This Steve’s is depressing. After watching a movie, we walked over to have lunch and WOW. The only way to clean it up or brighten it up is to replace everything. It’s the kind of dirty that’s set in. It has booths and tables. Even though it was maybe an hour into opening, the salad bar looked disgusting and there was no attempt for an employee to make it look better. In retrospect, even if they did clean it up. the place would still look like a shit hole. The other people eating there looked like they hate their life and it was their last sad meal before they went home to kill themselves. They serve appetizers, pizza, gluten-free options, pasta, sandwiches, beer and wine. There’s currently a lunch special for select items for $ 5.(And, that’s dine-in or takeout). Good deal but just so you know– their wings, which are one of the $ 5 lunch items, are shitty. Not crisp, not tasty, not shit. They have a fountain machine for you to help yourself to refills. a few TVs. . and it just feels like it’s the epicenter of depression here. But, if you find yourself here anyway. you order at the cashier. They give you a number to set on your table. Someone brings your order to you and in the meantime you can look around at what I was writing about.

Also surprised on the low ratings! I lived in Sacramento for a couple years, before moving back to the bay area. 1 of the only things i miss is Steve’s Pizza. Great toppings, great taste, fair prices, and a great ending to a night at the movies in Natomas!

We have been going to this Steve’s location since we moved to Sacramento. I was shocked to see so many 1 – 3 star reviews? One complaint was about the parking? Yes, you might NOT park right in the front of the place, but this is a HUGE parking lot and you will never have a hard time finding a spot. Bottom line is this: The Pizza is very good, and they have a friendly staff, and I’d never seen a mess that was not cleaned up right after the people that made the mess left? This is good pizza, and I don’t get the negative reviews here? Enjoy!

i usually hit up carino’s on my quick sac-town trips but i decided to cross the street and try my luck at finding gems within the shopping center… i was craving some good italian gravy but unfortunately i didn’t find it at this joint… i had their meatball sub… the meatballs were pretty big… cutting them in half would have given the sandwich a good sauce to meat ratio but unfortunately they didn’t do this… it was a mediocre sandwich… they got the second star because i fancied their big wooden booths that could accommodate more than the typical four… but it’s not enough to get me to come back… lots of wood? big balls and sauce? get your mind out the gutter and read another review, buster…

1-star for this particular Steve’s Place. Steve’s Place in general(like the one on El Dorado Hills Blvd.) has good pizza, for moderate prices, and even good wine. This particular Steve’s Place is filthy — food on the dining floor, sticky tables, and dirty restrooms. Skip it.

During a confused and very pregnant time in my life, I somehow got Pete’s and Steve’s confused. Not the location just the name. Anyways, I really wanted a Purist pizza and while at Steve’s I insisted they used to carry it. Well talk about customer service, the lady tried her damn hardest to create that pizza based on my memory of it and even offered a refund if I wasn’t satisfied. Pretty good, Thanks Steve.

This place is a little to pricey and I don’t think its all that great. Although the breadsticks here are probably the best I’ve ever had. I go here just to get them from time to time. Nice clean friendly place when satisfactory food and prices which is what you may expect from look at the place. If you don’t mind paying a little more for pizza then go for it!
