Stop One Liquors

Rude clerk. I was about to check my lottery ticket in the self-​serve scanner and I set two beverage cans on the ice cream freezer (directly in front of the scanner). «No no, put them over here!» said the clerk in an annoyed tone of voice.
Seeing my quizzical look, he said «Someone might want to buy ice cream.»
«I’m standing in front of it already «, say I.
«Doesn’t matter».
Gosh, folks, I would certainly have been courteous enough to allow access to someone who might want ice cream, and I would have moved. But maybe that’s just me.
And oh, by the way, there was NOBODY else in the store at the time.
He may have uncooperative customers at times, I get that; but I was not one. Actually, I will no longer be a customer there.
I am 63 and retired. I don’t expect perfection, but I sure don’t expect to be talked to like a child, as if I were breaking some grand rule that I didn’t know even existed. All this after I greeted him with a friendly hello when I entered his store.
Folks, you are free to try this store if you wish: you have been warned.
By the way, I have seen at least two different clerks there; this was the taller older one. The shorter younger one seems more courteous and professional, but I fear that he has a bad role model.

Remind me of when I was young shopping at a liquor store next to our apartment. Cool place to grab snacks and drinks.
