My father has dementia. He repeats the same stories like a continuous recording, refuses to wear a hearing aid and is always right. We’ve had caregivers in the past that were intimidated by him and didn’t have the personality that it takes to deal with someone like Dad. So we changed to Support for Home In-Home Care. And what a change. They found a lady that is a perfect fit. She prepares meals that appeal to him. She manages to convince him that he really does need to shower. After 3 failures sent by the previous agency we feel we have struck gold.

The process was not well done. most agencies present candidates that fit the required needs of the patient and allow a choice best suited by the customer They sent an individual directly out that immediately had communications issues and the skills requested were far from being met Simple meal preparations could not be performed and the tasks requiring little skill but persistence by caregiver to perform like trimming fingernails and toenails were beyond the skill set or her ambition Took advantage of the patients lack of current time awareness and sat in another room rather then attempt to communicate or educate herself to be some sort of comfort companion Attempted to make herself appear to have knowledge about medical conditions that were obviously wrong
