Anything by Mikuni’s is always great. This location has a really nice atmosphere and as always super upbeat. You can’t go wrong with the menu. The fish always seems to be fresh and it’s really tasty. The barbecued tuna is to die for. Don’t forget the spicy Judy 2.

They have blue fin tuna here!!! The pricing is acceptable if you want good quality fish. If not go to other cheaper places. You get what you pay for. Definitely recommend this place. Sit by the bar ask if you can get the head chef to serve you. He very funny and talkative which brings a very good vibe the the table.

It’s like the PF Changs of sushi. Lots of big rolls with gloopy sauces like you might see at an amusement park. The fish is decent and unoffensive. But the oysters… we had a half-dozen kusshis which were tiny even by kusshi standards and half of them were just ugly tasting. Good for families or for adults who need a sushi fix but can’t find a better place-you’re not going to die from bad fish but you’re also not going to be wowed.

It is generally always busy for dinner(even during the week) but it is delicious and always great and friendly service. Sushi rolls are amazing, appetizers are amazing and the drinks are always really good. I recommend the Pimp My Roll(for beginners). Sitting in the bar area can be a good time(always is for me)…very friendly people and very prompt service. Love coming here whenever I get a chance. Oh and as an appetizer you have to try the BBQ Tuna.

Always been here for years now. I always order pimp my roll and the albacore. Decided to take my mom today and we ordered our usual items. I also asked for the miso soup which is normally complimentary? Our sever said he’s worked here for over a year and miso is no longer complimentary. Since when!!! Pretty disappointed about that But none the less the food here is still amazing Edit: pimp my roll seems definitely smaller this time around. And is awkwardly not as beautifully plated as well as usual. Definitely not a big deal for me but it seems that taro has definitely let go of there standards a bit

This place is pretty bomb. The sushi is fresh, well proportioned and the presentation is great! The staff is very friendly and attentive, definitely important. Their appetizers are really good, from the albacore tuna to edamame and miso soup. The sushi is great as well, very wide selection, everything is fresh and well matched together. The staff is helpful, friendly and definitely tries to make sure this is a relaxed and pleasant experience. During rush hour, as this place gets very busy, the service does slow down a bit on the excellent experience, but is still well above average. The only reason I couldn’t give this place 5 stars, is just because of the prices. For what you get, there are other places that meet the quality and service as this place, but are a tad bit cheaper and not as heavy on the wallet… Aside from that, this place is great to check out and is definitely worth a visit!

This place has a fantastic dinner deal for 2 for $ 45 which includes two appetizers, two rolls, and one desert. Great service, friendly staff, delicious food. Went on a very busy Friday night, was surprised how quickly we were seated and served. Our waiter checked on us several times to ensure we were satisfied with our meal and drinks. Great experience!

I was here tonight for probably the 3rd time, barbecued albacore is always delicious, with both sauces. Flaming shrooms were delicious but, they don’t even compare to the barbecued albacore. James roll and incredible role were both delicious, we will order again! Service was quick, looking forward to my next visit!

Great Eats! Been here several times and love it. Prefer the dining area because of the ambience and even though it’s a large area, with the partitions, it seems very cozy and not noisy. My only complaint is trying to get refills on tea is like pulling teeth. Otherwise delicious food and hospitable waitstaff.

My boyfriend & I really enjoy coming to Taro’s for date night. Why? Because of a little deal called the $ 45 for two. Food: We always get this deal and it truly is the best of its kind. It includes four courses: an appetizer as the first course, three main dishes(or rolls) between the second and third courses and the fourth course consists of an appetizer. The menu for this deal is abundant. So many combinations to chose from, if you come here often, you’ll be able to try everything in no time. One of my all time favorites on the menu is the ebi fuji salad, it extremely light and refreshing with pine nuts and shrimp, so you get your protein too! Definitely recommend it as an appetizer. We’ve had countless rolls, but I like the spicy ones the most and for that reason, I’d say Spicy Johnny & Zig Zag are some of my favorites. You can’t go wrong with any of the rolls at Taro’s. They are very unique and have a diverse set of flavors, not the same repetitive flavor like most Sushi joints. For dessert, my boyfriend loves the deep fried cheesecake, but I tend to want the lighter and local Gunther’s ice cream(flavors change). Service: Okay service. They’re usually pretty busy when we dine, but our servers do their best to acknowledge us and cater to our needs. Good & friendly service overall. Price: Such a steal. Seriously, $ 45? High quality & healthy quantity sushi. You’re winning either way! Ambiance: Extremely contemporary décor. I’m always pretty cold when I dine here, so if you experience cold intolerance, make sure you bring some warm clothes with you. Taro’s is a lot bigger than I expected, each time I dine, I feel like it gets bigger in some way. Overall: Delicious & fresh high quality sushi at a great price. A lot of people rave about how much better Mikuni’s is, truly they are one in the same and I have no problem with either. Taro’s seems a bit more affordable & it’s never as busy as Mikuni’s. I’d highly recommend it to Sushi lovers.

Came here on Monday for my friends birthday dinner and it was alright. There were barely any customers… And the service was really slow. We literally waited 45 – 55 minutes just for our sushi to come out… i ordered my favorite train wreck roll! They were nice to torched my tuna for me because it was too raw(I don’t like raw food) and it was okay. I don’t know how many servers were working… But they really need to pick it up because we were there for a very long time. I’ll probably stick to sushi hook or somewhere else for cheaper/better rolls and faster service.

This is located right next to Arden fair Mall. We came here to celebrate a birthday. We reserve the private dining room. The service was a bit slow for us to get drinks and put in our order. The sushi took a long time to arrive… even though we are a large party and the rest of the restaurant wasn’t busy. I ordered the spicy Johnny. It was okay. It was overpriced for the size of the roll. Very small. The bar was out of patron … And ran out of Avalon as well. The bartender was nice.

Hands down, Taro(and Mikuni) are the best Sushi in Sacramento! We love sushi, and have eaten Sushi all over Sacramento. After trying the rest, we continue to come back to the best! If you are new here, get the BBQ tuna as an appetizer. If you aren’t dining alone, do yourself a favor and order the large portion(5 pcs). You will not be disappointed. Snack on complimentary edamame between courses, and dial in your soy-wasabi dipping sauce as needed. Also, don’t forget to take a bite of the ginger to cleanse your palate before your next course arrives. With the prompt staff, it surely won’t be long. Then move on to sashimi or sushi, all are delicious. We specifically love the Sake(salmon) sashimi. It is buttery and amazing without a hint of fishy-ness. This is another item that is consistently the best we have ever had. As far as rolls go, I imagine it’s hard to go wrong; just find one that has stuff you like. The Annie roll and Fair Oaks rolls are a couple of our favorites. The experience is rounded out by attentive, friendly staff. What more could you ask for? Get to Taro(or Mikuni) and get some!

I gotta bump a star down. I love mikuni/taro’s and we went for a birthday dinner recently. Service has always been on point but this time was a bit awkward when our server brought out the food. I was clearing out a section of the table to let him place our food down, he just a hands it to me. I’m the second from the corner and distance wise wasn’t far of a reach. I was surprised a bit. Now my sister has a joke whenever we go out to eat and the service is bad — «would you rather they hand it to you?»

Tis the season to be generous!!! My girlfriends and I were enjoying my early birthday celebration with some cocktails, sushi rolls, and the $ 45 meal for 2 when the manager Kevin(?) came over to our table and said that our meal would be comp’d! Say whaaaaaaat?!! At first he was just asking how the food and service were, and being the honest Unilocaler that I am, said, «It’s okay. We’ve been waiting awhile for our sushi rolls though.» Honestly we weren’t thrilled with our server either, but we didn’t complain, so we were wondering if the manager approached us because there was something wrong with the food! But he said that Taro’s wants to make sure that we enjoy our dining experience during the holidays, and taking care of the bill is their way of doing that! Well, okay then! Happy Holidays and Happy Birthday to me! I’m a Mikuni fan, so the food is just as good at Taro’s(same menu). We tried to be somewhat healthy and ordered our rolls with brown rice instead of white. Yeah, it’s not as yummy. Stick with white and do a little extra cardio. Thank you, Taro’s, for the random act of kindness!

Taro’s is located in Market Square right next to the Arden Fair Mall. The entrance is on the left side right when you enter Market Square. A staff member will seat you either at the sushi bar or a table depending on your choice. Inside the ambiance and décor is decent. Low lighting but if they raise the shades up you can get natural lighting. Tables are set up throughout the restaurant while the bathrooms are towards the back. The menu is just about the same as Mikuni’s if not identical. You have the usual appetizers, sushi, sashimi, boxes, noodles and more. We ordered the Puff Daddy as an appetizer and two rolls which were the Spicy Johnny and Fiesta. Here at Taro’s I thought the sushi was just average. There’s just wasn’t really anything about it that impressed us. I thought the Puff Daddy was delicious since it had great flavor to it. Service was just average as a main server and a busboy helped us. They forgot to give us small plates, wasabi, and ginger. And when we got them the first time, the small dishes were dirty and had to ask for another set. They got us refills when we needed them, brought our sushi out, and all the other things that a server and busboy does. They didn’t go above and beyond but did enough to get by.

It was my first time here and I’m a fan of Mikuni’s, some more than others! I met a GF for HH and Taro’s was a mutual destination for us both since we’re Mikuni snobs! What I loved is that their HH menu is the same as my favorite Mikuni’s on Eureka Rd! My closest Mikuni’s, Mikuni Kaizen has a slightly different HH menu than the other locations(limited drink specials). I love the décor here as well, with salt water fish tanks and Samurai armor on display. We ordered from the HH menu and ordered off the Osusume menu. I ordered the Aburi Nigiri, Delicious! Yellowtail, with a hint of Yuzu and lightly torched. At $ 6.50 for two pieces and offered for a limited time. I’m ready to come back again!

I’ve been craving good sushi for a while, and didn’t want to spend a lot of money, so I went to Taro’s. You’re probably thinking, «Taro’s by Mikuni is expensive!» It is, but I went for the happy hour, and the sushi on the happy hour menu tasted great and was not expensive. Food: I ordered the Iron Chef roll($ 7.50), albacore tuna nigiri($ 4), and an appetizer of teriyaki chicken($ 5.50). Everything was super tasty. Even though it’s happy hour, the food served is still kept at a high standard. Albacore tuna was super fresh and sliced to perfection. I was impressed with the Iron Chef roll because the shrimp tempura was lightly breaded and fried crispy. As I bit into each piece, the tempura was still warm, which elevated the roll. Lastly, the teriyaki chicken was grilled and seasoned really good. Side Notes Ambiance: There are beautiful fish tanks everywhere and there are TVs along the walls showing sports highlights. Service: The service was on point; food came out quick and server did a great job. Overall: I loved the happy hour!
