UYE | A Bunch For Brunch

I arrived at Cafeteria 15L and quickly discovered a long line of people waiting to be seated. Needless to say, when the hostess asked how many were in my group I replied that I was I here to meet a group of friends for a brunch. She immediately directed me to one of the main dining rooms with a long table with a bunch of brunch YEs.
What a great time this was at the Cafeteria 15L. A word wall with the saying, «good food, good friends, & great times,» describes this event perfectly. I would like to thank Katie for taking the time and effort in making the arrangements so we could enjoy a brunch with one another. I am quite certain that it is a great deal of work and I appreciate everything you’re doing for the Sacramento community Katie.
With that said, I had a wonderful time making new Unilocal friends and seeing people I haven’t seen for a while. Our conversations were filled with laughter as we enjoyed our beverages and dined on really good food. Cafeteria 15L was extremely accommodating to our needs as there were at least 2 waiters tending our table at all times.
Added bonus for the location:
This is a great venue for group parties and its in a cool location (but make sure you get parking in the garage down the street so you don’t have to pay more than necessary.)

What a well-​organized and attended UYE brunch!
Katie was very helpful outlining all the info we needed, and making final confirmations. You could tell a lot of effort went into organizing it. Everything started on time too.
So many wonderful Unilocalers to chat with, it was hard being on one end of the table but I could have mingled more. Great to see everyone enjoying their drinks and food from Cafeteria 15L. Some new Unilocal peeps were there as well, sorry I didn’t introduce myself.
The food was pretty darn good, but pricey (average for brunch though I guess). I liked the chocolate waffles, but left off the caramel and cream. Could have used more bananas, but those crispy fried potato chunks were super good. I’d have had some of those tasty looking desserts, but got fully stuffed from my meal. It ended up surprisingly close to $ 20 without a drink though, but well worth the great company and good times.
Definitely go to Katie’s events, she’s got it on lock.

My life is mostly filled with working, eating and sleeping. Free time or even just doing nothing is few and far between. So whenever the notion of attending a brunch or any Unilocal event for that matter, arises, I will do my best to make an effort to be there! Spending quality time with Unilocal friends has always been to me, something I look forward to. This UYE set up by our very own ambassador Katie G. was no exception! In fact, it was exceptional!
Our destination brought us to Cafeteria 15L. A very popular restaurant that just happened to be where everyone else in Sacramento had to be also! Fortunately for our group, a table was reserved just for us! Katie saw to it that we were all attended to and even gave us some Unilocal goodies to add to our cherished collections! This place was super busy, but the staff did a great job looking after our group of ~15 Unilocalers. Hopefully we weren’t too demanding or off putting, even when Joe K asked if a sticky spot could be cleaned from his table or when I soon afterward, knocked my coffee creamer over creating another mess for the busboy to clean up. I think the staff did a super job at handling our large party as we all ordered delicious looking menu choices.
I ordered the chocolate waffle that was topped with bananas, whipped cream and caramel sauce. Washing it down with coffee and the Cafeteria Bloody Mary added to my total brunch experience and was another highlight to remember that will go in my list of fun and enjoyable events! The sign displayed inside the restaurant above the kitchen area really describes what our UYE brunch was all about — «Good food, good friends & great times!» Katie G. managed to fulfill it all just for us! Thanks Katie, for bringing us together again!

This was my first experience talking with fellow Unilocalers. It was s blast! Looking forward to the next UYE event. Great event Katie G! It was great meeting everyone.

Srsly. That’s what the motto is over the kitchen where the servers come and pick-​up the trays of food:

THE SETUP
Cafeteria 15L was absolutely SLAMMED today! It’s a Sunday. It’s Brunchtime. And our soirée was scheduled for 12 Noon. …yeah, I wasn’t thinking we were gonna get it. But kudos to Katie G., our marketing assistant for organizing & arranging everything in advance so that we had our table-​area and we were ready to rock n’ roll!
* The first to come was the water, which we DID have to ask for, except that Katie had pretty much asked for us — Joe and I spiffied our waters up with the fancy-​schmancy «outer-​wear» that Katie provided for our waters!:

I had a mind to separate Joe & Ida apart from one another, cause I was worried they were going to «cut» each other with the knives they were holding:
NEWBIES!
We had some newbies Unilocalers come to this event! Sheila and Skip made their way to the event, and even MORE important, I don’t think we scared them off! Though Skip DID get the vegetarian skillet — which most people did NOT get — and everyone wanted to take a shot of his skillet, which was pretty hiLARious! [Including my camera, I count 4 cameras in this shot!]:

THE FOOD
Of course, we came for the food and it did not disappoint. I am a fan of their signature «Cafeteria 15L Skillet» for $ 12.95!
