Really cool spot. We went early for dinner and waited about 45 minutes to be seated. The restaurant was empty inside, so I’m guessing they hadn’t opened up those sections yet for dinner. I wasn’t a fan of the meal I ordered but my husband really enjoyed his.

Ok! After eating shrimp at Schooners the other day, I can say this place has them beat hands down! Very fresh shrimp! I’ll be back for sure!

We have been to Aunt Kate’s Waterfront Restaurant many times and it is generally very good, the atmosphere is casual and very enjoyable with indoor and outdoor seating, this time the a/c was blasting, the service was great: our waitress was very attentive and pleasant and the food is usually good but I do have to make a couple of complaints this time: we ordered a couple of sandwiches and the bread on both of them was almost inedible it was very poor quality white bread either not toasted enough not buttered or too hard and crunchy maybe from sitting under the warmer too long? I don’t know but the filling of the sandwiches which included grilled tilapia, grilled grouper, bscon and cheese was great also you can tell the tasty tartar sauce is homemade. Also I do have to say that the sweet potato casserole was terrible… I don’t even know what to do to make it better maybe some more cinnamon, sugar and butter? On a positive note the selection of breads that they brought out before our meal was fantastic: the pumpkin bread, Datil pepper cornbread and Johnny cakes all great! I want more Johnny cakes right now… one of our entrees was shrimp with grits which came with a brown mushroom gravy except they put so much mushroom gravy on it that it looked like a bowl of soup when it came out and the flavor seemed very store-bought and not homemade but the grits underneath and the shrimp were excellent. We will be back again!

Our server was Camille and she was very personable, attentive, and engaging. She made our experience that much better! Great location on the river, beautiful sunset views for photo ops and wonderful atmosphere. Food was fantastic, Mahi fish tacos TODIEFOR, and the rest of their seafood fare is right there with em! Fantastic dinner option.

Marvelous! The food may be a bit pricey, but both its quality and quantity are satisfactory. Splendid service, delightful atmosphere. Full marks!

Great views. Solid service, though the hostesses could be a little more personable. Fresh and we’ll prepared local seafood. Decent crab cakes. Great selection of fish and shrimp dishes. One of the better spots for a nice casual lunch or dinner.

I was very excited to try this little place on the water. I expected to have to wait for a table, but what I didn’t expect was the horrible service. With an hour and a half wait for a table, we went to the bar to grab a drink and an appetizer. The bartender offered no greeting and looked overly annoyed when asked for a menu. After 15 minutes, another bartender came to help and when we tried to order an appetizer and drinks… we were told they are not serving any food. The hostesses, also apathetic, confirmed they would not serve food anywhere but once seated at the table. Ridiculous. You can’t have that long of a wait and not offer people any options. If I was management I would be embarrassed by the service and attitudes here. Save yourself the hassle and go elsewhere.

Went for a drive on A1a & found this place by accident. Had our 2 dogs along as well… was not a problem! We sat outside on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, right on the Tolomato river. Gorgeous setting — water, sand, birds, sailboats, and fishermen. I had blackened tilapia soft tacos, he had the mahi reuben. Both were quite tasty! Our waitress was polite, warm, and friendly and the service was excellent. Went inside just to the restroom, the inside was quaint and clean. Restrooms were immaculate. We’ll definitely come back — check this place out!

Meh. It wasn’t horrible but I was excited that I had peanut butter crackers in the car to get over the disappointing blue crab salad sandwich):

Awesome breads and she crab soup! Husband ordered fried shrimp and I got the low country boil to share, my meal came out cold! When I did get it ‘again«’ it was hot however lacked any type of flavor. Ambience was great and I would go back to get something else.

My boyfriend and I were at Vilano Beach for the day and wanted to try a new restaurant. We decided upon this restaurant. At first, he was a little hesitant, since we had to turn down a long private road. But we were impressed by the view of the water at the end. When we walked inside, there was no one at the hostess stand. We started to walk towards the back porch area, and one of the waitresses told us to go back to the stand and someone would help us. This did not make my boyfriend happy, since he didn’t think that was right. A waitress came up and took us to a table outside. The service was slow at first, and we almost thought of leaving, but she came back again to take drink orders. Afterwards, we ordered food, him the Island Chicken Sandwich with Mac & Cheese, and I the Early Birds Shrimp Basket. He ate all of the sandwich and liked it, but he was especially in love with the mac & cheese, which was creamy. I enjoyed my shrimp basket, which had fresh fried shrimp and crispy potato fries. The one hushpuppy that came with the basket was hard to chew, so I abandoned eating it. I’m not sure if we’ll come back, since we were not impressed with the service, but we had a nice lunch.

This is a popular establishment for the aged members of St Augustine. You’ll find that this restaurant gets hopping by 5pm and doesn’t stop until 10 or so. The food however is not really worth it. The fish, comprising the majority of the menu, is bland and over cooked. My fiancé had the blackened ahi tuna, which was burnt to a point where you could confuse it with hamburger. I had the jerk chicken sandwich, which just made me feel like a jerk, for trying to eat it. This thing was the toughest and worst seasoned hockey puck I’ve ever tried to digest. The staff was very friendly and kept our drinks full. This is the main reason I’m giving this place 2 stars and not 1. You could enjoy this place if you’re over 60 and you like to eat bland food. Sometimes your life is so spicy you need some bland foods to smooth things out? TL;DR: Bland food, old patrons, bad chicken.

Went for lunch on a chilly day. Chose to be warm so we sat inside. The deck was beautiful and the view from there excellent of the Tolomato River. Not such a great water view from inside. They had a person singing and playing the guitar. He was a nice addition. We ordered the shrimp and sausage ettoufee which was a special. It was wonderful! Perfectly cooked shrimp, sausage, and topped with fried okra! The bread basket sampler was a nice assortment. Enjoyable meal and location.

Atmosphere: Located on the water you can get some great views of the sunset. I’ve seen a trend of places like this where parking can be an issue if you don’t plan ahead. So plan ahead! We showed up around 7pm and managed to grab one of the few parking spots. Service: We showed up around 7pm and were able to get seated right away. A group of 13 that was there was quoted 45mins — 1hr for seating. After being seated our waitress was very nice. She took our order and that was about it. I think she might’ve checked in on us two or three times in total. Food: I ordered the Shellfish Fra Diavlo. This portion of pasta could easily feed two. The linguine itself wasn’t special nor was the sauce spicy. However I did enjoy the abundance of seafood on the dish. Overall: I would definitely recommend this for someone in the area. It was honestly more of a 3.5 than 3 but I rounded down. Nothing really blew me away but it was good nonetheless.

Excellent food right on the water. I don’t understand all of the spotty reviews for this place because I absolutely loved my experience here. We had perfect seating outside on the deck overlooking the water. Very romantic if you’re looking for a place to manifest those feelings and the food did not disappoint. We were promptly seated and I ordered fried green tomatoes and the calamari for apps with their flavorful sauces. They were shared with my sister and her husband and were gone within minutes. The bread basket is also free and so yummy! For my main, I ordered their fish tacos(you get three) with a side of cheese grits and black beans & rice. It was served with a southwestern chipotle sauce that tied everything together. Fresh and flavorful! The food was served in perfect timing and all of the dishes I saw coming out looked amazing. Really good home-cooked meals with good sized portions. The pitchers of beer were only $ 7 of which we had three and you can’t really beat that gorgeous view of the sun setting on the water. Our server was Ariel and our entire service was excellent. She was a real sweetie. This is the type of place to go and relax, eat a good meal and enjoy the real Florida. When you’re done with dinner and there’s still light, go explore the grounds. The little beach and mini marina is way too adorable to miss. And I hear they provide free live music most days and for the money, Aunt Kate’s is well worth the trip to Vilano Beach to experience this little gem of a restaurant where the locals go. FYI: The coconut salt scrub used in the bathrooms is amazing. A very nice touch. Your hands will smell faintly of coconuts and be as smooth as butter after using it. The also sell it for like $ 26 a jar. Make sure you check that out when you go. :)
