I’m not expecting great service from any particular fast food restaurant, the bar is set low. This Arby’s didn’t come close to clearing even that. Walked in after another family and apparently 5 people was enough to spook the cashier who started loudly shouting for someone in the back. Help didn’t come… the other group wasn’t ready to order so we stepped up. We placed our order and I gave my debit card to pay. Before swiping my card, the cashier cursed at the receipt printer for some unknown reason, ripped something off of it and aimlessly tossed it toward a trash can(not actually into a trash can…). She finally went to swipe my card and realize she screwed something up. Had to again shout for help(when I say shout, I mean it. She literally just yelled someone’s name loudly in the general direction of the back of the kitchen). Help came this time and easily fixed whatever was too complicated for the cashier. Time to swipe card. Runs it and nothing happens… she stares at register, waiting, hoping, not doing anything. After a long pause, the card is declined. Um, why? It is my debit card and our $ 20 dinner is hardly a dent in my account… She again stares blankly at the register like she has no clue what to do but doesn’t want to ask for help. She continues to stand, wasting time… Finally she yells, yet again, to the back for help. Once again, help arrives and looks at the problem and tells her that she swipes the cards 3 times in case the system is screwed up. Well, okay. So she swipes it again, long pause waiting… declined. Try #3… waiting, declined… She again screams for help. Frustrated, I hand her another card. She swipes… rejected yet again. Again she screams for help. The help arrives again and this time says that she just checked the system and it was working. «It must be his card». Really? I hand the cashier a 3rd card(an American Express with no spending limit and a $ 0 balance) and again it is declined. She looks at me like she is afraid to tell me that clearly I have no money to buy my food. My husband, also getting annoyed comes back from getting drinks to see the problem and I ask for his debit card. You know, on the off chance that every card in my wallet has somehow become demagnetized or something. As she runs his card, I pull up my bank app on my phone JUST to be ultra sure and there it is, couple thousand dollars sitting in the account she is currently trying… declined. The help person, in the midst of this came back to say the system is clearly working fine and it is us who as no money. I tell the cashier I just looked and there is four grand in the account that was just declined, I’m pretty sure the problem is your system and she says she can’t do anything, she tried our cards. my husband looks at me and says we should just leave. I concur because this s**tshow isn’t going to get any better considering these people seem so inept. As we walk away, I hear one last shout of «They are leaving!» as if you haven’t brought enough attention to the problem already. We promptly went across the street to McDonalds where we were greeted politely, helped quickly and our debit card was accepted on the first try. Even if their system had been working, the unprofessional nature of the staff was pretty mind blowing. I mean, again low expectations to start with and they failed to come close to them. Besides the cashier and the woman being screamed for, there were random other authoritative types around in the kitchen that seemed to show no interest in what was happening and just kept doing their thing. Side note, the family that entered when we did and were pretty clearly going to eat there(they were setting up a table while we ordered) were gone by the time we drove back by. We eat fast so I imagine they ran into the same problems we did and also just left. I like Arby’s and I have no idea how their food would have been at this location, but I’m never going to bother finding out because there isn’t a chance in hell I will be going back to this place.
