Cary O’Brien’s Design & Color

I have been coming to Cary O’Brien’s for more than ten years for all of my beauty needs, especially haircuts and eyebrow waxes and absolutely love you guys and all of your staff. I’ve spent most of my time there with Paige and she has been cutting my hair since she started working there and she is wonderful. She is so professional yet funny and sweet and her work is impeccable, I can’t imagine letting anyone cut my hair ever again and I feel so lucky to have found such a gem! I’ve also had my eyebrows done by Missy and I have never loved the way they looked more than when she waxes them, she is also professional and sweet. I showed her a photo one time and she has matched it perfectly. All of the staff is great and I’ve never had a negative encounter in my whole time visiting which says a lot about the caliber of this salon. Yes, it’s on the more expensive side but the saying is true that you get what you pay for and it is well worth every penny ever time I come in! I just can’t say enough good things and can’t believe I waited this long to write this review but it is well deserved, the products they use are amazing and again extremely high quality. Keep up the good work and give Paige a raise ;) she is the reason I have come back again and again to try new services and be impressed by everyone else!

I was visiting family in St. Charles and needed a haircut. I have long, thick, curly hair that many a hair dresser has ruined. I was pleasantly surprised when the receptionist answered the phone and offered me a same day appointment. She explained the training that their staff goes through and that they all have experience working with different hair types. Hence, I ended up with jacklyn (I think that was her name).
She was a great hair cut person. I hate when haircut people act nice and fake and ask about your family and all that weird stuff. I don’t come to my hairdresser for therapy, I come to get my hair cut and to see if they have any style tips or other suggestions. Jaclyn was excellent in this regard. Nice, friendly, and very knowledgeable about curly hair. The price was fair as I am used to paying $ 30 – 40 more where I live. Overall, a great experience and one of the best haircuts I’ve had in a while. I highly recommend and will come back here next time I’m in St. Charles.

Another successful spray tan from the best girls in town! This spa is great! Customer service is above and beyond ! My first day here the cuties walked me to the car with an umbrella, to keep my pretty stuff pretty! THanks LADIES !! Services are all done to a T!

I see Ashley, a senior stylist at Cary O’ Brien’s, and I could not be more happier with meeting my hair soul mate. I have never felt more comfortable in a hair stylists chair. I never fret getting my hair cut, because I always know that I am in good hands with Ashley. I always leave 100% happy and confident thanks to her. I recommend her to everyone.

I see Kelly. She is professional. I love that they sit down and do a consultation prior to every visit. Before they even do anything you know the price, and agree to it. The first time I went in I got a pretty drastic amount of hair cut off, and Kelly tried to hold me back at first… she told me that she could always cut off more, but cannot add more. I loved that she was trying to make sure I was happy! After the appointment Kelly makes sure I know her schedule for the next few says in case I go home and am not real sure so I can come back in and get anything fixed. I always leave super relaxed and happy.

For my first visit to Cary O’Brien’s, I was referred by my best friend. Tired of visiting shitty chain salons that had no idea what to do with curly hair, I decided that I’m worth a more expensive haircut & a regular salon. Enter stylist Ashley Common. She is Deva Curl certified (any Curly Girl worth her salt knows what that means!), & she did a great job cutting my hair. She even took extra time to find out how I like my curls — when the initial style came out way too poofy, she defined them more so I’d leave feeling satisfied. All great. But then … THEN !!!
I’d wanted to be a redhead for years. My husband loves redheads (I was brunette). I decided to put my trust in Ashley & go for it. As before, she was awesome. We spent some time going over exactly how red I wanted, complete with picture comparisons. I was so excited that I was squealing & wiggling in my seat, & she picked up on my excitement & was having a great time, too! The process took a couple hours, & she wouldn’t let me look in the mirror till it was all done! I LOVE IT!!! It looks completely gorgeous & was EXACTLY what I wanted! I had such a good time, & I’m RELIEVED to have found a Curly Girl stylist who is knowledgable AND sweet! Needless to say, I finally have my very own real salon. Buh bye, shitty chains! (And boy, was the husband surprised! His mouth actually dropped open!)

I had gotten a two for one groupon for facials and my mom and I had a girls day out. The staff was very nice and we were very relaxed when we were done which was the goal. We both enjoyed ourselves.

I had a great first appointment at Cary O’brien’s! My stylist was Danielle Helm, and she did a fantastic job. Everyone was so friendly and professional from the moment I walked in, to the time I left. For my consult, which happens everytime before the hair services start, Danielle actually sat down and wrote notes on what I did and didn’t like. She was very nice and also professional, and was easy to talk to throughout the appointment. I got my hair trimmed and foiled — and it looks great! She also showed me the products she used on my hair and how to use them, but didn’t pressure me into buying them. I’ve already made my next appointment with Danielle. My husband also goes to her, and he also loves the salon and Danielle. He is very picky about his hair, but loves how Danielle does it.
The services are a little on the expensive side, but not too outrageous, and I’ve learned that you kindof get what you pay for.
I recommend this salon, and Danielle to everyone!

I came in armed with a groupon for a manicure and pedicure with a friend.
Pros:
They were very accommodating in keeping us together so we could catch up while our feet were soaking.
Nice tubs
Appreciate the offer of a drink while I was there
Love the OPI products they use
Cons: The normal price of $ 98 is way too pricey for me to put into the regular rotation.
I did miss the use of a scraper for the bottom of my feet but they do use a callus removing liquid. just not the same
Book early and not ideal for a group because there are only 3 pedicure stations.

My «Lova» was nice enough to get me a Groupon gift here for a massage and facial, so I made the drive here and left relaxed and fairly satisfied. However I would not make a return trip without another massive discount on services like the Groupon provided.
The positives…
— The staff was super friendly and accommodating.
— The ambiance was great compared to other spas I have been to.
— The facial included a bonus hand and foot massage.
— The massage felt great.
The negatives…
— The stone massage was not a real stone massage, they barely used the stones at all and if they used them more than I thought they did, they were not at the right temperature. I can say this because I have had amazing stone therapy massages twice before.
— The esthetician really hurt me when getting out a few blackheads. I realize that «pain is beauty», but I have gotten a facial before and I did not have red spots on my face from where the blackheads were removed for 2 days after getting it done. I thought this was really bad. Luckily, it did not scar or scab.
— The regular prices are ridiculous for the quality of services I received.
I really wish I could give them a better review because they were just so nice, but I cannot lie. I will not be returning and I hope there are better spas out in the St. Charles area, or that they were just having an «off» night.

Cary O’Brien’s Design and Color Spa in St. Charles is awesome! When you become a regular they know you by name. The service is friendly, always done well and with a smile. They are professional and sooo nice. If you have been curious about Cary O’Brien’s then you must come in for a visit.
The one and only reason I dock a star is because it’s expensive to get your hair done here. The prices are comparable to other high end salons in the area, so that is my cheap side coming out. I completely trust these people with my hair. When you go in for your appointment you have a brief consultation with the stylist you have chosen and go over what you want and don’t want done with your hair. You get a price before they start styling your hair and every time I walk out I am happy with my hair and feel like a million bucks.
I have had a few massages here and they were great. The spa area of the salon is nice and peaceful. I feel so relaxed when the massage is over that I wish I could stay for a little nap. Maybe they should look into that! The waxing services are nice. I haven’t had a pedi or mani but I’m sure they are great. All I have to say is that you get what you pay for.
