Convenient and closer than Walmart, but their prices on almost everything is high. Staff is pretty friendly, and they have just about anything you would probably need of you don’t mind their high prices.

When I was growing up, IGA was everywhere. We shopped there every week… until the big grocery superstores came along. That being said, IGA does have a bit of a nostalgic pull for me. There are three great things about this IGA: 1. The bakery. It’s just like walking into a locally-owned small bakery full of people who have been baking forever… because that’s exactly what it is. This IGA is owned by a local franchisee, and the bakers have been there a long time and put a very personal touch on every item. 2. The convenience. This IGA is small. It has all of the basics at a great price, and you can park very close to the door and find what you want easily. If you’ve ever had to walk three miles through Dierberg’s or Schnuck’s just to buy a loaf of bread, you will appreciate this. 3. It’s small. They will recognize you after a few times, and stop to chat. There are stock people around if you have a question, and if someone isn’t readily handy, it’s only a short step from anywhere in the store to the service counter. This is a place where it feels good to shop. You get a nice welcome, a great bakery, and plenty of selections at low prices… and it’s right off the highway.

Always friendly, always have just what I need, and close to my house. Who could ask for more. They have really good meat deals, especially on steaks that have been on the shelf for a few days. If I really want a steak I stop by on the way home and pick up a «Managers Special» for half of the normal price. That’s a 1lb porterhouse for $ 4.99 sometimes.
