The best doughnuts around!

A great local grocery that has people who know where things are and always have a smile on their faces. Their prices are usually cheaper than the other chains in town, though if you want a more exotic ingredient or fresh seafood you may need to go somewhere else. Overall, a great neighborhood store.

The Hawthorne IGA is pretty awesome. Although they aren’t large, I can’t think of a thing that I need that they don’t have.
The bakery. They make some great items, including a lot of inexpensive seasonal things that are perfect to take to work. They are in the front of the store so you can run in… and run out. They also serve cake by the slice. You have been warned!
The convenience. They are right on the corner of Hawthorne and Elm, and they have a huge parking lot. There’s a card shop next door, and there are always guys barbecuing in the parking lot for charity. Oh, and Lyon’s Frozen Custard is right across Elm Street. Get your groceries, and drive through for a Slushie or concrete.
Honestly, why go to the grocery superstore when you can patronize a local independently owned grocer — and still get great prices?

I am a regular at IGA. It is a short distance from our home and my family has been shopping there since 1984. It is a perfect example of your neighborhood grocery store. They have the best meat department in town, at least in my opinion. My only dislike is that they sell produce that is mostly produced in other countries, in-​other words, I wish they would sell more locally grown produce. I also need to point out their bakery, they have fabulous donuts! Friendly employees + great deals + great meat department + amazing donuts = satisfied customer! Thanks for your consistency and hometown charm.
