Okay. I’ve been listening to my coworkers talk about this place for some time. So I decided to give it a try. Walked out with with my order in hand feeling violated. Ordered a 12″ Italian sub.(Hot) was given a 12″ Italian beef. When I mentioned it to the staff. I was told. that’s a 12″ hot Italian. I said I ordered a Sub sandwich. Not a beef sandwich. His reply. that’s a sub. Okay. whatever! Total price??? Just shy of $ 14!!! For a sandwich!?! That’s NUTS!!! The sub was good. yes. But it wasn’t great. I didn’t get all emotional and misty eyed eating it. This place may have decent food. But it’s crazy expensive for what you are getting. I WON’T BE going back.

My wife and I both ordered lasagna. While it was covered in too much sauce, the pasta was very good. Service was quick and the server was very nice. This place has tables to eat at but I think their primary business is take out. Worth a trip. They are a local fav.

«Ah Maron»…the bread is skinny and no meat on the bones. Translation: The bread is narrow, crusty and good, although a few extra slices of Mortadella, Genoa Salami and Capicola wouldn’t hurt! The meat portion played hide-and-seek just as much as the abundant lettuce obviously poked you in the eye. Alas, my first impression of the Italian Sub succeeded the Rock and Roll broken record deli down the street. The point is, I don’t think that’s hard to do. The difference maker at Gina’s is the«Grande» brand provolone cheese sliced on your sandwich. The sandwich is not impressive… the cheese takes it to a new level. Smart Move!

My wife and I were on a little field trip and we found this place by happenstance. My wife’s name is Gina… so we had to try. We got the 12″ beef on garlic bread with mozzarella cheese and cheese sticks. The order was ready very quickly and was absolutely the best beef I’ve had in a long time! Getting the larger beef, I was able to share with the wife and she loved it… and that is saying something as she is even more critical then I am. I wish it was a stand alone so it would bring more business in… we will be back and will be trying the pizza!

This is a really nice place but unfortunately, it is tucked back in the corner of a strip mall. If it was a free standing building on Rt. 64, this place would certainly have more attention. Although it had it’s small negatives, my family and I definitely feel the positives outweighed the negatives. So, to start off with the negatives. 1. When you walk in, there is no sign that says, «Please Seat Yourselves». We stood there looking confused and we were not greeted. My wife had to stop a worker and ask, «Do we seat ourselves or wait to be seated?» for which the man replied, «Please sit wherever you’d like.» A sign would have made things a bit easier for those who are not locals and don’t know the routine. 2. When we sat down, it took quite a while before someone came over to us. In fact, it took so long that I went up to the front and asked, «Do we come up here to order or will somebody being coming to take our order?» The lady said, «I’ll be right over!»(I presume this lady was Gina). In their defense, the restaurant was quite busy but it doesn’t excuse the lack of greeting. Even a simple, «I’ll be with you all in a minute with menus», would have sufficed. 3. After ordering, we got our appetizers. They looked fresh from the deep fryer. However, we were given no additional plates to share with one another. 5 cheese sticks and 5 jalapeño poppers(can be found on their menu under«Side Orders»…no heading for«Appetizers»). We made due with what we had… our place mats and napkins. Schwateva… we were hungry!!! Don’t judge us. 4. This can be seen either as a negative or a positive. When it comes to refills on our drinks, I noted the refill station at the front of the restaurant so we simply got our own. I’m sure if we had asked them for refills, they would have eagerly helped, but this was so much faster. Nobody came by our table to offer anyways. Besides, I was able to fill my drink with something different(and better of course). Ok, and now for the positives. 1. The food was really good. The cheese sticks were oozing with cheese. The poppers were spicy but not too spicy. The pizzas were perfectly cooked with cheese running down the edges of each slice. Delissshhhh!!! Did you get that… Delissshhhh!!! 2. The inside of the restaurant was decorated nicely. Italian ambiance/pictures/colors throughout the restaurant. It smelled terrific in there. A small recommendation though… perhaps some Godfather music in the background would have been tasteful. 3. We ordered two 16″ Pan Pizzas. These pizzas were HUGE, allotting for 8 large slices per pie. To me, if felt like these pizzas were more like 20″. 4. Although feeling neglected early on, when we did have a chance to speak to the staff, they were all so very friendly. Especially the lady, who I presume is still Gina. Of course her name wouldn’t have changed while doing this review. 5. Lastly, this pizzeria is registered to . The certificate brought us in the door and I am grateful it did. We cut our bill in half. I would definitely go here again even without a certificate. However, you might as well get a certificate first when you decide to give them a try… cause I know you will now. Uh huh. Hopefully this review helps you as much as it helps Gina. Take care and God bless!!!

I’ve been coming here for years. The Italian beef is the best. The ajus makes the sandwich. It’s tucked away in a strip mall, if you don’t know about them you obviously haven’t lived here long enough. The pizza is great, but we go back for the Italian beef.

I just realized seconds ago that I’m in one of the photos for this place’s Unilocal page. Cross that off my bucket list. Anyway, I stopped here with my friend to grab a late dinner. I had the chicken florentine pasta with garlic toast, which was great. It had a creamy cheese sauce with it, which was soupy and delicious. I thought the cashier was nice, and she was very courteous. All in all, this was a good experience. I have to come back for pizza and subs

The panzerottis here are great. The atmosphere is a little lacking but they make up for it with good food.

Awesome little place! Fresh ingredients, fast service, reasonable prices. I love their American Sub, so many good meats and just the right amount of veggies and mayo. The pizza is incredible, from the slices to thin crust pizza for parties. Go here! Especially since the Butera near here has closed now, let’s support small business in St. Charles!

The best pizza place in St. Charles. Time the owner is a really nice guy who treats customers with the best courtesy, which makes you come back for more.

I visited this place back when I first moved to STC in 2005 and was served by a very surly, rude woman. I never went back until tonight as I was hankering for a meatball sub. I’m glad I gave this place another shot. The meatball sandwich w/provolone was GREAT and the red sauce… even better! I will be back to try another dish that warrants more red sauce as I finished my sandwich wanting more :) The cashier was very friendly and offered samples of their various pasta salads.

I don’t know why this place gets good reviews. The pizza slice was thick, but hardly had any sauce on it, which is a bad combination. The pepperoni is not baked into the pizza. They just throw it on top if you order it. The beef sandwich had low quality beef on it with some chewy pieces of fat.

Update– added a star. He got the order right but still has problems with register efficiency. He’s improving. Once this was a great place to eat, and my usual place to go for lunch. Subs, pizza, and some very nice specials. The service was always very fast, the food was always good(if pricey), an the proprietors were pleasant. then, the place got sold, and everything changed. True, the new owner bought the location, and the recipes, and the name, but unfortunately, he doesn’t know how to deliver the same degree of service as the previous owner. He’s slow, and his customer service is too verbose. He wants to have a conversation with every customer, to prove how much he wants them to be there, and how much he appreciates their business. Fine if the line is short. But, during the lunchtime rush, it gets frustrating, especially when coupled with his hunt-and-peck style on the cash register. The food is not as good as it used to be, and mistakes are made with orders. I really, really hope that one day he manages to learn to run a restaurant, because I miss the old Gina’s a lot. Now it’s just an expensive place to eat, run by a wannabe amateur.

Just an FYI, Unilocalers! Gina’s is under new management. But don’t worry. The owners sold the restaurant and the recipes, so I’d imagine the same great quality food will be served! :)

Traditional family-owned old style Italian restaurant. Just as the décor hasn’t changed since my 2nd grade pizza parties, neither has the food quality – outstanding! Although«Gina» seems a little tiresome with her job, she remains very friendly if you go out of your way. Stuffed pizza – the true deep dish, as Gina made sure to inform me – remains the best I have tried – compared to Giordano’s, Lou Malnati’s, and Gino’s east. I usually get ours with spinach, mushrooms and onions. It is truly out of this world.

Went here because we had a coupon. I walked in and stood there about 3 minutes before the woman got up from whatever she was doing to help me. The menu was hard to read because of the layout of the ordering area. Ordered 2 roast beef sandwiches. They were good, but not great. A little better than Jimmy Johns but nothing exceptional about this place. If we’re hungry and in the area we might stop back here but it’s not a definite drop in the bucket.

My husband turned me on to Gina’s when we first met over 10 years ago. The pizza is good, but we usually stop in for a sandwich when we want a quick, inexpensive meal. As a vegetarian, I usually get a cheese sub or one of the egg sandwiches(pepper & egg, etc.) They recently spruced up the place with a fresh coat of paint and it looks wonderful! Gina’s isn’t fancy, but it’s comfortable and the food is good.

I love this place! My family has been going here since they opened. Sal is the owner and 99% of the time he can be found at the restaurant and is very friendly. I usually get a sub or pizza but everything is delicious. The ingredients are so fresh for everything they make. The pizza is always loaded with toppings. Great small casual family owned restaurant! I wouldn’t take someone on a date here but the food is good and the atmosphere is relaxed and very casual.
