I have been going here for years, I like the separate rooms– they have 2 cardio and 2 separate weight rooms, one with machines and one with free weights. The staff and most people they go to the gym are friendly which is a huge plus. They have a daycare that I believe is free if you have a membership. Tennis courts look nice but you have to pay extra. The also have classes you an pay for separately. I would say the cons are that most rooms are in the basement so no windows and the wifi signals don’t work sometimes. The spot lights in the cardio room are too bright and the locker room is very outdated. They also don’t have locks, you must bring your own and they don’t provide towels for the showers, just small hand towels.

This place is definitely a little out dated and the front desk staff aren’t the friendliestThat being said we love working out here. You can always get on a machine or use the equipment. It is not intimidating at all. Other gyms you kind of always feel judged, and tend to be more of a meat market atmosphere. Norris center has a family atmosphere. Love it!

The kids can start working out when they are 12 and there is even yoga in the nursery for the toddlers. The center is not state of the art and does not pretend to be, but it’s the perfect place for a family – especially on a budget. If I were into globo gym, I would have to give it less stars, but I like a facility that is like a second home. They are the only non-profit fitness center that has swimming, tennis, multiple workout rooms, cycle classes, yoga, zumba, pilates, aerobics, and nursery in the tri-cities – and it’s just $ 60 a month for my entire family! The staff is amazing, professional, kind, and accommodating. I also have to say that the Norris Recreation Center is the only gym that offers NFL Sunday Ticket by Directv. I love seeing every football game while I workout.

I will admit that you get a lot for the price, but what you get is not good. The gym is incredibly dark, old, and un-motivating. The machines, mats, free weights are rusty, outdated and gross too. There is a lot of work that needs to be done in the locker rooms, and class offerings as well. They are just stuck in the 80’s. It is too bad because I really tried to like Norris Center, and I cannot believe it is the only recreational center for St. Charles residents. Cant wait for my membership to be up.

For a good health club at a reasonable price, the Norris center has everything you need — treadmills, elipticals, weights, tennis, racquetball, a pool etc. It is never overly crowded, which is a big selling point for me, and location is convenient

I had to knock a star off for the fact that this place is connected to my former high school. BOO! In all seriousness, I would give this place five stars because of all them amenities but it is in serious need of a remodel. There is a pool, classroom, tennis and handball courts, sauna, whirlpool and full weight room among other things. The instructors here are amazing. Want to take a relaxing yet invigorating yoga class? Try Christina. A butt kicking cardio kettle bell class? Selange will take you to the point of breaking. The instructors are professional, courteous and friendly. They are always willing to make adjustments and offer modifications for different levels of fitness. All shapes and sizes are welcome and they never single out anyone. The parking situation can be garbage from time to time due to the high school swim meets that are held here but overall the classes are amazing and worth the reasonable one-time rates.
