I bought a groupon for 18 foils for 35 bucks. I called Wednesday and they were able to schedule me Saturday at 1. On Saturday I was running late and I didn’t show up until 1:30. My stylist Theresa was very kind and told me not to worry she would still be able to get me in. It took Theresa less then 20 minutes to put in my foils and during that time she told me about the business and her daughter, who happened to be in the salon sitting behind me. Quite a family feel from the start. I sat under the heat for about 10 minutes and then a young girl was instructed by Theresa to take out my foils… the poor girl had been running around washing hair and blow drying the entire time i was there, she was a very hard worker! She removed my foils and washed out the color. She made small talk and was really nice. When she was done Theresa advised me that the same girl would be drying my hair too. When I sat at the chair Carlo, the salon owner instructed the girl to dry another clients hair… she looked at me and said Im sorry i will be right back… I waited about 10 minutes for her to come back and she dried my hair. Needless to say I tipped Theresa AND the girl that washes hair. They both were great. My hair look great and the salon was clean and organized.

I found a Groupon for a 60minute massage with this spa so I called to make an appointment. The gentleman who answered the phone took my info and gave me a time slot. I informed him that I was 15weeks pregnant and he said that wasn’t a problem. Five minutes after we hung up I received a call from the massage therapist. She informed me that a prenatal massage is not included in the Groupon and that a prenatal massage was«a lot of work for me“for so she offered me a massage for $ 50 instead. She also told me the time I scheduled wasn’t even available! She wasn’t accommodating and very unprofessional! I then looked into the fine print on Groupon and it did not mention anything about not being able to be used on prenatal massages.

Pedicure done by Julie. Best pedi I have ever received. Super nice employees, great place, great prices, and a job well done. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back for sure!

Boy, do I wish I had checked the filtered reviews before I went here! I was in the area visiting a friend and had an important event to go to where we’d be meeting up with a large group of friends. After spending a long time online looking for a salon in an unfamiliar area, I found that Groupon had a deal for this salon. When I called, the salon offered to honor the Groupon price without the need to purchase a Groupon. That was, unfortunately, the last good aspect of my visit to Salon D’Argento! The upshot: they DESTROYED my hair; nearly four months later, it’s still not back to anywhere close to the healthy condition it was in before I made the mistake of going here. I explained that I wanted an ombré with a dark, almost wine red color with blonde ends. I selected two different color swatches for the red to show what I was looking for(think Kate Winslet in Titanic). The stylist, Carlo, kept trying to force me to choose a semi-permanent color. I stood my ground and explained that I’ve been dyeing my hair red for over 20 years and permanent reds fade fast enough as it is and I didn’t want to have to redo it in two weeks. In addition, Carlo spent the entire first half hour of my visit discussing with another employee the best approach to use to achieve the results I wanted, to the point where I actually asked if he had ever even done an ombré before. Carlo assured me he had«studied in NY with Sassoon» and that I’d be pleased with the results. I had also told him specifically that it was important to me to cover the grey hairs that are starting to sprout on the top of my head. When it came to doing the blonde ends, he wrapped my ends in foil and put me under heat lamps. He dismissed my concerns that this would fry my hair; I had already told him that I don’t even blow dry it and that none of my other stylists had ever used this method. I had to protest several times that the heat lamps were burning my back and needed to be repositioned. Also, red color is only supposed to be left on for 25 – 35 minutes, but even after I started expressing concern after 45 minutes, he still didn’t rinse it out. He ended up leaving the color on for more than an hour. Finally, after literally two and a half hours in that salon, I ended up with a color that could only be described as NEONPUMPKIN. I wish Unilocal would let me post a photo, because the hideousness of the color it came out cannot be adequately described in words. When I expressed to Carlo that this was nowhere NEAR the color I had asked for, his response was that he «didn’t realize I had so much grey on the top»! When I asked him to please fix it by putting an ash blonde or light brown rinse over it to tone it down, because I work in a professional office and couldn’t possibly go to work with it like this, he basely refused and told me to give it a couple of days and he was sure I’d love it! To add insult to injury, he started backpedalling on the agreement to honor the Groupon price, saying that price was only for one service and what he had done constituted three services. In the end, it cost me over $ 150 for Salon D’Argento to completely ruin my hair. I would have refused to pay except for the fact that I had my friend’s middle-school-aged daughter with me and there was no way I was going to start a scene that could escalate out of control with her in my care. As soon as I voiced my unhappiness, Carlo’s attitude became surly, defensive and somewhat intimidating(body language with his beefy arms crossed in front of his chest, petulant pout, etc.), so I wasn’t willing to risk how he might react if I outright refused to pay. When I returned to my friend’s house, she had just gotten off work and when she saw me get out of the car, she exclaimed«UGH!» at the sight of my hair. I was nearly in tears by then. My friend immediately called her own stylist, who squeezed me in immediately to try and correct the damage. They did a great job, but it ended up costing me an additional $ 96 just to look like a normal human being again(I gladly paid the new stylist, of course… not complaining about that– she saved me!). Typically, I spend no MORE than $ 60 on a color and cut here in L.A.; making the mistake of waiting until I was on vacation cost me almost three times that. The next morning, I sent an e-mail to Salon D’Argento asking for at least a partial refund in light of my extreme dissatisfaction and the fact that I had to pay another almost $ 100 to fix the damage they had done. I never got a response. Unfortunately, my bank refused to honor my request for a refund for services not as described because I admitted that I signed the charge slip. I guess they didn’t consider that I was more concerned about the safety of my friend’s child than about money! Long story long, this was the WORST hatchet job anyone’s ever done on my hair. If I didn’t have to go back to IL to do it, D’Argento would already have received my small claims complaint!

I had a poor experience at this salon. I bought a groupon for a mani/pedi, but they didn’t have a nail tech on staff! They were trying to hire, and I was instructed to call back again and again, which I did. When they finally hired one, the owner posted a new expiration date on his website of November. I had not realized this, as I do not get my nails done when my feet are cocooned in shoes! When I explained this to the owner, he just shrugged and told me to seek a refund from Groupon, which is what I did. He didn’t care about the client, and I only frequent businesses with good customer service.

Stacks and stacks of magazines. Closed Sundays and Mondays. Free wifi, just use their phone number as the password. In and out in a little less than an hour for a shellac mani. Eye rolling hand massage. OPI and CND for shellac. Wed-Saturday. Only one technician though. My shellac mani lasted the promised 2 weeks without chipping. No actual hand soak but they apply a gel like solution to your cuticles to soften them instead. Pushing back on the cuticles was painful at times but she really took the time to clean out my cuticles.

I bought the living social deal hoping to find a new go-to salon. Needless to say, this was not it. To begin with, the lady did not soak my nails, so she scraped my cuticals to high heaven until my fingers were numb. She hardly even filed them down, and did not shape them at all. I had a crack in one of them and she did nothing about it! The paint job wasn’t the best, but for what I paid I couldn’t complain too much. She was very friendly, but I will not be coming back!

I came here with my mother and grandmother for a pedicure. It was my grandmothers first time! Poor thing :( The kid who did our pedicures was pretty rough on my toes and never asked me or my mother if he was hurting us even when we were wincing in pain. We both let it go and ended up with decent pedicures… You know, the same quality you get at middle school slumber parties. When it came to my grandmother, he made three of her toes bleed so bad that he couldn’t finish the pedicure.(I am aware that this does happen sometimes). She received no polish or anything. THELITTLEBRATENDEDUPCHARGINGHERFULLPRICEFOR1⁄3OF A PEDICURETHATLEFTHERFEETCOVEREDINBAND-AIDS. Unacceptable. Even half price would’ve been too much, but it would’ve been something. Side note: I even noticed that they were using Sally Hansen top coats(they peeled the label off the bottles), even though they were using OPI polish. If I’m paying $ 35 for a pedicure, I expect something a bit nicer than Sally Hansen, especially in disguise. The only good thing about this place was the complimentary glass of wine.

My friend and I bought a living social deal here. Super easy to get in and one time for a no chip mani… The salon is clean, friendly and cozy… BUT, the mani didn’t include a soak or anything and the cuticle pushing was some of the most PAINFUL experiences I have had… truly I thought my friend, who went before me was being a baby, NOPE… OUCH! The manicure was more a polish change and a quick lotion app… I guess for 17 $ it was ok, but still pain is not something I would expect. Maybe this is a place you must visit for a hair cut… oh, be ready for rave-club like music.

Salon Dargento has just become my go to salon! I went there for the first time for a much needed haircut and without having to explain much, Joe knew exactly what I wanted. I was nervous going in because I have had so many bad haircuts in the past, but Joe made me feel comfortable right away and took his time on my hair. They are a family owned business that has been around forever and it seems like the talent really does run through the family. Would definitely recommend this place!

I’m going to review this in two parts as I had two separate experiences. I live less than two miles from this salon and did not know it was here. I moved here recently and in the last year have had three very bad, unpleasant hair cuts. I was reluctant to go anywhere when I saw this salon as part of a gift basket at my son’s school fundraiser. When I noticed how close it was and that it offered a certificate for a Hair Cut and Style I took the plunge and placed a bid knowing ALL the proceeds when to my son’s program and that I would be able to benefit by trying out yet another ‘salon’ in the area. So I made my appointment so I’d have some new spring break hair — or — at worse have new baseball cap accessory hair :). When I called to make the appointment there was a little confusion as to WHAT kind of certificate I had and where I got it. Apparently they are also running a groupon so she assumed I was mistaken about having gift certificate. Once I explained we were off and making the appointment. I must say I was quite unsure about having my hair done again so here goes my review. The salon is on the second floor of a business like building in a mixed use complex that has some thriving and some struggling businesses around it. I walked up to the second floor and was greeted warmly, my name and information was taken and I was asked to wait. I was then welcomed by one of the owners, who offered me some details and information about the salon, offered me a drink of my choice and also suggested a tour. This was a genuine friendly interaction and not a strong sales pitch. I felt as I was in someones ‘home’ vs. a pushy sales environment which I liked. I waited not long and my stylist came over, also an owner, and local. He was very professional, seems to genuinely LOVE what he does and being this is a family business they all seemed(Sister, and two brothers) use each others skills to ensure the client was being well served. I appreciated the time and thought he put into fixing my previous disasters of a hair style and also making good suggestions. I felt the products used were of good quality. The salon was relaxing, the environment ‘Light and friendly’ and the place was very clean. All pluses. After being washed and seated I could tell this was not going to be a butcher job. He took his time, making sure to consult w/me during the process, seemed to really want to create something I was happy with. I loved not being rushed and Having my hair truly shaped in a professional and artistic manner. He gave me styling tips and answered all my questions. At no time was I hassled to try, or buy anything but I could genuinely feel that happy client relationships would be the goal here. My hair looks and feels fabulous. It passed the second day test where I was able to style it and it still looks amazing and healthy. I will not hesitate to get my hair cut there again nor would I hesitate to recommend them. It is not your typical pretentious salon experience which I appreciated, but still ‘upscale and professional’ The price structure was typical for a salon of this quality and I’ll be taking my daughter next for her hair. Over all this was a great 5 star HAIR experience. I also wanted to make a note to say and comment on that other patrons starting coming in. Some had groupons and some regulars. I will say w/out hesitation that they were all treated in the same way. See Part TWO in separate review

I went here for a «special» on a deep conditioning treatment. What a joke. The man was rude and arrogant. The female stylists seemed to be afraid of him. I could of done a better treatment at home. Instead of using a cash drawer or register the man made change from the money in is pocket. How weird. I will never go back.

I had a good groupon experience here myself yesterday. I was supposed to arrive at 4pm and was running so late; with traffic I wasn’t going to arrive until 4:45. I called ahead to see if they’d still take me or if they’d make me cancel and reschedule. To my utter shock, they said it was no problem; the stylist would make time for me! I came in and I was offered a beverage, to which they served me tea. The place was gorgeous and because I was curious about it, the nice receptionist took me on a tour of the whole salon and introduced me to staff members, I felt like I some sort of important guest or something ~ LoL. David was ready for me and so I came back with him and got my mani-pedi done, and it was fantastic! I didn’t feel like he was trying to shove me out the door like other places I have been, and he even had great color recommendations. Since I was there for the mani-pedi before going to vegas, I wanted something fun. I usually pick boring pink or red, but David brought back a flashy blue-purple that had glitter in it for my toes, and did my nails in Niki Manaj’s new OPI polish which was silver and blue confetti, different colors but they look like they were meant for each other! My feet and hands looked wonderful and he was very careful not to hurt my fingers or toes when cutting, trimming, etc. I felt it was totally work the groupon and I would come back for another pedi-mani. My only complaint is the prices on the other stuff; the microderm abrasion I was interested in, after the receptionist pretty much sold me on how they perform them there, and her skin looked like it was brand new baby skin — I wasn’t interested until she started talking about it and by the time I was ready to look at the prices, I was sold on it… however, the brochure showed this at $ 100+, which is steeply overpriced. I think that for a new salon that needs customers enough to put out a groupon, they should probably reevaluate prices on other salon services. That being said, I would come back for David to cut my hair and style it, he seems pretty in touch with what’s new and hot — so as soon as I’m ready to cut my locks, I’ll be there!

My friend’s family lives in Campton Hills and her mom and siblings get their hair cut here. So I decided to get my hair cut, when I went to visit for a weekend. My last major hair cut was in June and it’s now March so my locks were super long. I waited a few minutes for Carlo the main owner to start my cut. Walking into the salon you feel like you’ve walked into the family living room, because the salon is family owned and operated. We talked about what I wanted done with my hair and got started with the cut. Carlo and I talked about soccer as my long locks fell to the floor. It made the time go by fast. After cutting the length off of my hair, Carlo proceeded to take a ton of weight off of my hair, by using the razor. It looked awesome like a cut by my favorite celebrity hair stylist Nick Arrojo who used to be on the tv show What Not to Wear. I love the style and it makes me wanted to «whip my hair back and forth» to quote Willow Smith If you’re looking for a quick trim this is not the place for you. Also, when you come make sure to give yourself some time. Many times they are running behind because of the volume of clients. Overall, the men and women at Salon Dargento are true artists with scissors.

Reading the two other reviews reinforces my experience. . I too, used a groupon. I walked into the salon, a person came over, no «hello», no «how are you», but rather, «who are you here for?». .. Ignored for nearly 15 minutes, then taken into a room — — «why don’t you soak?» — for another 10 or so minutes — while the tech disappeared. The tech was nice enough, but way too aggressive with pushing back the cuticle and massage. . it hurt! I suggested maybe he was stronger than he thought, and his comment was, «people tell me that.» Hello. . maybe you could adjust! I asked for a French manicure, not well done — only one coat of polish on my nails, the white used for the French manicure was all over my fingertips — — not cleaned off at all. Sure am happy I only spent $ 25 on this, certainly wasn’t worth any more. Again, the tech nice enough, just think his passion is more for hair and make up than nails. Customer service. . ?? isn’t there!

I went to this salon due to a Groupon for mani/pedi. I was greeted and serviced on time and the nail tech was great. My only complaint is that there was another person(also a Groupon) who decided to bring her son with and he was sitting in the nail area watching(over and over again) chip munks on the phone. That was rather annoying for me and not very relaxing. I will say though, after the mom was done, they moved(the family) to another room and then it was more relaxing. I thought the nail tech was AWESOME and plan to go back for a hair consultation and more nail services.

I’ve have been a client of Carlo, Joe and Teresa for over 20 years. I’ve never had a bad hair experience with any of them. They are all artists, each with a different style and personality. Being of the baby boomer generation, my one request is make me look like a hip«old lady» they have served me well. There haircuts grown out amazing, and it’s always a pleasure to sit in their chair and hear the updates of their family’s… Sometimes I stray and may try and save a $ but I always go back. I’m just happy they are 20 years younger than myself and I will always have GREATHAIR !!! – Debbie Hardman
