Stopped by here by chance, saw the American Owned sign and pulled in. What a great hidden gem, should have been coming here long ago. Great estate reds, Cab-Cab Franc-Cab Blend. They also have a Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot, they something for everyone. Kristin and Megan were awesome, sign me up.

Wonderful little winery and Megan was a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, sweet host. She led us through the history of the vineyard while pouring us taste of their excellent wine. The environment was very inviting and it was a great start to our adventure through wine country!

While in the area came across one of my favorite wineries. From the great staff to the awesome wine. It has become a staple wine in my home and there hasn’t been a glass that I have treated a guest to that they didn’t race about. I suggest anyone with the opportunity to stop by Wh and find yourself a little gem.

Had lunch on William Harrison Winery deck. Tasted cab, cab franc, and Rutherford red. Wine was delicious and service was excellent. Very friendly. Will come back.

Wine was pretty good. Service was ok. Annie did not want to be there and you could tell.

Decent but limited production wines. Hence the price point is steep. Also, not thrilled about the having to buy 2 bottles to waive the tasting fee.

So, i was hosting a tour for my close friends from the east coast about a week ago and we started with a couple of wineries that required appointments.(Pride, Schramsberg, and Opus One) During the time we were driving to other wineries i kept raving about William Harrison Winery, i told them how it was going blow all the other wineries out of the water. its a hidden gem with AMAZING wines, amazing hospitality, and REALLY hoping Steve the wine educator was still there so he can work his magic of my peeps. So i saved the best for last. We drive down the drive way and we showed up around 3 o’clock. my friends think its some kind of saloon from the wild wild west. We walk in and there was no one behind the bar, so we stood around for like 5 – 10 mins and this blonde lady come out and greets us and asks if we had an appointment. we told her no, we didn’t. so she gave us the talk about the pricing and flight coast. i told her that we needed a sec to situate the plan of attack. She stood there and kinda looked us up and down like she didn’t care to much for our business or she would rather go back to what she was doing. Well anyway we ended up doing flights, she talked about the wines and Paso Robles a lot and comparing wines from down there for some reason we had no idea why but she seemed to know her stuff from Paso Robles. WEIRD. We were almost done with our flights and asked if we could enjoy our wine outside, she says yes. So, as soon as we sat down I got bashed on by my friends about the winery, wines, and especially the hospitality that older blonde lady gave us was nonexistent and I totally agreed with them. Next time, i need to ask what days Steve works before showing up. Wasnt the same experience like my last visit, i was pretty bummed.

Found this winery almost by accident driving along the Silverado Trail. It was this last Memorial Day weekend, and the«American Owned» sign caught my eye. Decided to give it a try. It is a rather small family owned winery, but very sweet. I really enjoy more boutique style wineries like this. There were a handle of people soaking up some sun and tasting their wine on the deck outside when we pulled up. My friend and I walked in, and were immediately greeted. The two employees working were very nice and chatty. The gal working there really knew a lot about different wineries in the Napa and Paso area, so it was interesting to talk with her. They poured five wines, and they were rather good. I really liked their Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Rutherford Red.

Intimate & quiet setting. Not a whole lot of hoopla. Serious red wines. Knowledgeable & courteous staff. The wines are robust enough without annihilating your palate. Do the flight of Cabs. Known for their Cabs, the true standout is the solo Cab Franc. You will most definitely want to try & buy some of these wines. But they have a secret. It’s a wine called Simpatico. A 50 – 50 blend of Cab Franc /Cab Sauv. Simply heaven in a bottle. Silky, round nuanced flavors that will make you swoon. You must ask for it. Enjoy!

I read the other reviews first… I stopped by this past Friday with a group of 8 and had a very enjoyable tasting; poured by Steven and Rich(who did an excellent job). And dang if I did not run into their new winemaker AND vineyard manager Scott Morrison(Google him, he has impeccable credentials and experience!). Mr. Morrison will only make Wm Harrison better. Next year Wm Harrison will be 5-star; count on it! I love the«American Owned» sign draped by the American flag at the entrance. Small, cozy, and intimate! Stop by, you’ll love it!

Way overpriced wines, just too simple winemaking, no sophistication. Our least favorite stop in Napa.

On a trip to Napa Valley, this was one of the best, if not the best winery I visited. The vineyard is a family owned facility with its own growth and production on its own land. The building itself is historic and rustic looking and very all american! The tasting was a great experience. Sitting outside in the warm California sun drinking the fruits of this lands labors with great friends was one of the highlights of my trip and I’m glad I got to experience it here. The staff was very knowledgable of their products and had very generous pours for the tasting. As a big Pinot Noir fan, their 2009 was the highlight of my day. A tour of the facility and the cellar room was also very informative and we actually had a chance to taste some wine that was fermenting in the French Oak barrels from the crop that had been picked the year before. Again, a generous pour. This vineyard is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the stop. It’s quiet, calm and very peaceful and the prices of wine are reasonable.

One of my least favorite stops in Napa — sorry. Small, family run operation — a plus. Interesting family history — good. Tasting hostess was good, facility was OK, not the views enjoyed in other wineries. Wines weren’t my favorite, but it was late in the day and I may have suffered from taste bud fatigue.

visited this winery on a platypus tours this last april. this winery was by far the worst winery we visited on our trip. the«wine master» was the one doing our tasting, and he rushed us through the tasting. no one on our tour ended up buying any of their wines because of this. besides which the wines were really not that good. with so many other superb wineries in this area, i would definitely skip this one.

Wonderful, old historic building. The tasting room is a tad small, but there’s plenty of space outside with an incredible view. The wines were great as well, service was friendly and knowledgeable.

WH Winery is full of history, with a family heritage of wine making that goes back hundreds of years starting in Italy with a move to California in the early 1900s. The tasting room is quaint with some historical bottles and articles on display for you to enjoy. The wines here are solid, well balanced with nice structure. My favorite was the Estate Cabernet Franc, great finish with some some soft tannins; it was delicious. Stop by for a piece of wine history and to enjoy some real good wine.

Wow. I’m floored by the bad reviews about this place. I LOVE W.H. and always make a point to stop in when going to Napa. The wine is fabulous and it’s the last mom and pop winery in the Rutherford Valley. If you sit for a while and chat with the staff, they’ll tell you all about the history of the winery, the area, and if it’s slow they’ll give you a tour. Everytime I’ve been here I’ve had a blast!

Okay, this is one of those really special gems that makes you not want to write a review, but in this case William Harrison really deserves some praise. First I have been to all the typical wineries up and down the Silverado Trail including the public spots and the 100 plus bottle by appointment places. WH is for SERIOUSWINEDRINKERS, nothing right now is as good as William Harrison in Napa for taste, price, experience. It also is so low key and approachable it works for everyone. First time I went here it was by mistake as I was using their driveway to turn around and then decided to stop in for a quick taste. I almost did not go in as the winery itself is extremely low budget(part of the charm). I am so glad I did. Beyond the friendly service, fantastic price points, and relaxed atmosphere — THEWINESARETOPNOTCH! I actually ran out to my wife and told her she needed to come in and check this place out. Pinot — They have a sonoma coast pinot that blows away anything produced East of 101. Tasted like something you would have in Sebastapol or Guernville. Cabernet — As good as any Cabernet including Caymus, Stag’s Leap, Joseph Phelps, Duckhorn, Cakebread, etc. but at a much better price point. Probably a little more drinkable now than some listed, with some potential down the road. Simpatico — Blend varietal table wine that is another real gem and less than $ 30.00 We bought 6 bottles for 235(less than 40 a bottle). Tasting was primarily refunded if you bought something, seems like somebody gets it…

I can’t believe this isn’t on Unilocal yet. Part of me wants to leave it that way so this place won’t be spoiled by crowds, but my desire to share my appreciation for this winery is too great. William Harrison is a small family winery and my favorite to visit on the Silverado Trail. I can’t leave without coning a member of my party into buying a bottle of the Estate Cabernet. It’s half the price and just as good as overhyped Silver Oak’s. The tasting room is essentially a log cabin complete with a stuffed bear. It’s location on the trail makes it accessible enough that you don’t need to go out of the way to get there, yet the tasting room is far enough off the main road that it feels like it’s in a valley all it’s own. There are tables out front where you can nibble on a snack and relax outside. this isn’t the kind of place that frowns on outside food. The staff are always friendly and seem like they’ve been there for years. The experience here is more relaxed than anywhere else in Napa. It’s a true gem.
