Lucky find on my whirlwind tour of Michigan. I was originally making my way to the beach to take a nap on a road trip to Chicago. I was all set except for being in need of a beach towel. The stand-up paddle boards, kayaks and even sail boats were all stationed out on Silver Beach beckoning me to the shop around the corner and up Lake st. to Outpost Sports. I picked up a towel but was curious to try stand up paddle boarding on the calm lake. After inquiring about the price($ 25/2hrs) I decided to give it a go instead of napping. Luckily they had everything else I needed that I forgot: board shorts(kinda pricey, but great selection), sunscreen and of course the towel. The water was pretty chilly but was also calm enough that I didn’t fall off. Great fun at a decent price, give it a try.

It’s a tourist shop, no doubt about it. Forgot toys, sunglasses, etc for the beach come here. It’s pricey but you forgot it so now you need to pay for the accessibility. It’s worth it! Here’s where they get four stars: Stand Up Paddleboard rentals. Great rates, great staff on the beach to tell you how to do it, and they give you enough time to get hooked to the sport!

Used to be a pretty decent surf shop. Mainly just catering to the silver beach tourists and beach chair shoppers these days. I miss the old days!!! LOL
