Knowing how much I love brunch, Dan surprised me with taking us to Café Osage for my favorite meal time. Being our first time here, I didn’t realize that it was inside Bowood, a nursery/home store, which was beautiful and we made plans to visit it after brunch! We were sat promptly with menus already in place and immediately greeted by our lovely waitress. As we looked over the menu, my eyes spotted a Rose Brut and Dan got the Bowood, Bourbon, and Berries cocktail. Both drinks were delicious and made with fresh ingredients from the garden. I really debated between the Goat Cheese Omelet and the Brie LT but I really wanted breakfast so I chose the Omelet. Dan went with the Huevos and both choices were excellent. The Omelet was generously stuffed with Goat Cheese and Herbs and the side salad that accompanied it was lightly dressed and plated beautifully. It rarely happens but I almost liked Dan’s Huevos better than my omelet because it was fantastic. Well-seasoned but not spicy, the combination of black beans, scrambled eggs, and peppers was satisfying and savory. We can’t wait to go back to try more menu options. Happy dining!

Well hello best meal we had during our stay in St Louis. This far out did the famed«The Hill» and the two restaurants we tried there. Surrounded by a garden and built out in an old building the only thing better is the amazing food. The bison sausage is likely the best I have ever had and my roasted eggs mixed with fire roasted vegetables served over black beans with two perfect wheat tortillas was perfect. Enjoy this restaurant!

Beautiful venue for a relaxing and tasty meal. I came here with a group of 8 for brunch on a Saturday afternoon. We had a reservation, but the waitstaff was very accommodating of our party, when most of the party ran late. They had our table ready, and didn’t require the whole party to seat us. The food was pretty solid. I loved the cheese grits and the migas. The biscuit sandwich was okay, I thought the biscuit was a little dry. Ingredients tasted fresh, and many items were local if not from their own garden. The ambience is very serene and pretty, we all had a great time, enjoyed our food, and liked the service.

Wonderful atmosphere– the shop in the front has a bunch of plants(to buy) and flowers and cool little trinkets and gifts. The dining room is open, light, and airy. The food itself has been delicious the 3 times I have been. This last time I got one of the salads and it was perfect. Also, they have great bloody marys!

This is the CUTEST restaurant ever. It’s so pleasant… I wasn’t expecting it to be attached to a nursery and small gift shop, especially after walking through the neighborhood to get there. So that was a great treat! We loved our food; I had the and the blue corn biscuit sandwich and it was so fresh and amazing. The mimosa was fresh squeezed and almost too pretty to drink. We ordered a smoothie for the baby, and everyone dreamed about this food for the remainder of our trip!

The quality of service seems to have declined recently. During my last two visits I was a bit neglected by the servers. This morning I ran out of coffee and had to walk to the bar and request more. Had only one follow up visit to the table after my food arrived and that was when I had almost finished. This was in a room with three other customers and three staff chatting and folding napkins at the bar. The pancakes were good this morning but the sausage patties were hard and tasteless. Every bit of the flavor was cooked out. You cannot do that to bison and have an acceptable product. They did remove the sausage from the bill but no explanation or apology and no offer to cook more fresh. This used to be my go to place for taking out of town visitors for breakfast and I left a glowing review a while back but I’m sorry Osage, I’m going to give you a timeout for a while. If I feel the need for gruff service I’m pretty sure I can find it elsewhere.

Love love love this place for brunch/breakfast. My advice is get there early and pay attention to anything seasonal. It isn’t a huge space but they fit the tables in there nicely so you don’t feel cramped. I particularly like the Scramble which always has fresh seasonal ingredients and prepared perfectly. My better half loves the Biscuits & Gravy which is a different spin on the traditional belly buster you’re thinking of. Also, don’t skim past the housemade sodas. Really interesting flavors!

I absolutely love this place. I’m new to Saint Louis and a friend brought me here after work one morning… I’ve been back 4 more times so far! I’ve been coming here once a week since then. The food is so delicious. The drinks are even better. It’s so nice that their herbs are picked fresh from their own garden. I’ve even left with a few plants my self– because they have herbs, flowers, etc for sale! Im already waiting for the next time I can go back :)

Every dish was prepared with creativity and care. Great flavor combinations. Specialty drinks were fantastic for the same reasons.

I like this place a lot. If I could just remember to bring some pocket change for the stupid parking meters I would like it even more. The pay stand takes a good few minutes to do a credit card transaction. That’s not the fault or doing of the restaurant– call it well-meaning collateral damage. It’s $ 1 per hour to park– it’s not the money– something about me hates the process. Back to the restaurant. I’ve done both lunch and breakfast. Breakfast/brunch is most excellent. The bacon was the best I’ve ever eaten. I liked the craft bourbon drink so much I imbibed a second. For lunch I enjoyed the bison sliders. Basic, not too heavy, but really good. The tables are well spaced– enough room to converse freely. Great natural lighting. Service is attentive but not fussy.

This is such a cute place for brunch. First, you walk in through a garden and plant shop, and you have the option of sitting outdoors with a variety of flowers and plants. The entire place has white chairs and tables, with wait staff dressed in light green and light green chairs outside. Cute. Their breakfast/brunch menu had an assortment of unique twists to common dishes. I had the osage scramble, but was able to add bison sausage. It came with some homemade strawberry raspberry cherry jam which was absolutely delicious. I had to ask to double check that this was homemade, and yes, it was. I’m someone who rarely ever touches my toast with jam, but I finished it all here. We also ordered some bloody Mary’s which were all house made too. Didn’t even taste the alcohol, but halfway through I felt it! Just the way I like them. Everything here is organic, seemingly farm-to-table, completely fresh and still flavorful and delicious. Menu changes with seasons, so don’t expect to find everything you see here on Unilocal. You can’t go wrong here. So fresh and so good.

I’m lucky that I live a few blocks away from this place. The food is legit good. Service can be hit or miss when they’re busy, but who cares when I get to enjoy the brightly lit room/outdoor patio on a beautiful day with deliciously FRESH food. Their menu changes frequently but one of their more memorable dishes was the chicken pot pie. It was probably the best chicken pot pie I’ve ever tasted. All of their breakfast staples are delicious and unique. Their vegetable hash that comes as a side is also delicious. I recommend the bloody mary as well. I only have one small critique — their blueberry banana bread(with cream cheese on the side) is seriously good, but two thin 2″ x 2″ pieces for $ 5 is just too high. Everything else on their menu is WELL worth the money/value.

Fantastic location! But the service and food was just ok. Took forever to get my coffee(eventually 5 minutes after my pancakes were served). Pancakes were soggy with the compote and feel apart and were mushy. The location makes this place well worth a visit, too bad this time it didn’t live up to the ambiance. I would definitely give them another shot though.

Beautiful bright little café with a shop attached. My friend and I had a joint birthday lunch here on a Saturday. Our server was friendly and helpful in deciding our drinks, but the service was just so slow. The food was delicious, but the slow service really ruined what was otherwise a great meal. This is the kind of place I’d come if my friend insisted, but not necessarily a place I’d seek out for myself.

You know when you hear so much hype about a place that you’re expecting it not to deliver, and then sure enough, it doesn’t deliver to your expectations? Well this is NOT one of those instances! I have been hearing about Café Osage and its praises for a few years now. I’ve seen it at the top of lots of local best brunch lists to the point where I expected it to be overrated. Fortunately, I could not have been more wrong. Café Osage is a wonderful and quaint hidden jewel in the north side of the CWE. From the outside it doesn’t seem like much but once you go inside, it’s a whole other story. I came for brunch on Saturday. I had about a 30 – 40 minute wait at about 1:20 pm for a table for one. I killed the time while perusing the gift and flower shop attached. It’s magical! The flowers are beautiful and the gifts, are well, expensive. Nice, but very pricey. I was seated at the bar and received extremely pleasant and knowledgeable service by my waitress and bartender. I ordered the 2-egg breakfast with scrambled eggs, bison sausage, vegetable hash, and sourdough toast, and had a mimosa with my meal. Everything was excellent! When I tell you, that I didn’t know how much my life was LACKING by not knowing the SCRUMPTIOUS and SAVORY flavor of bison sausage! My God! YOUNEEDBISONSAUSAGEINYOURLIFE! I don’t care if you’re a vegetarian, you have to try it! Okay, that might be going too far, but seriously, it’s amazing! 5 Points for Gryffindor for that alone! I also loved the bright airiness of the restaurant and the wait staff ‘s sage green button down shirts, black pants, and white apron ensembles. The icing on the cake for me was when my bill came in an old book. I had seen pictures on Unilocal of the book bill envelopes before coming here but it still was a pleasant surprise when I received my bill in one at the end of the meal. I also liked that people left notes in the book with messages of «John was here» and«We love your restaurant» with signatures and scribbles all throughout the book. It adds to Café Osage’s laid-back, hipster charm. The dining room is a decent size but not too big so plan accordingly because I understand now how this place gets so packed for Saturday and Sunday brunch. Café Osage is absolutely special and makes the perfect brunch spot!

I do not remember how we stumbled across this place for brunch but I’m very glad we did. The plants/flowers, green décor, and the large windows that maximize the natural lighting enhance the brunch experience. I felt so calm and refreshed as I enjoyed my brunch here. I ordered the tomato basil soup, the«greens, eggs, & ham,» and a blueberry muffin/sorbet dessert. Everything tasted so fresh and light(well, except for the dessert, which tasted delicious and sweet). I will definitely be coming back.

Went here for my nephews 4th birthday brunch with the family, party of 11. Called & made reservations. They noted that there were many large groups and it may be better to do 30 min later. We couldn’t do that but when we arrived they were ready and offered warm attentive service for the entirety of brunch. The food was fresh and overall good! Many vegetarian diners & the menu offered a great variety for them. Which was so nice! Some faves were… scramble of the day biscuits & gravy Breakfast burrito half liked & half not Blueberry banana bread(perfect not too sweet) paired with butter and cream cheese. 2 in order. Potatoes were so perfectly seasoned. Pancakes were Dutch style & liked Cappuccino was the very good Orange juice was fresh & perfect The NOT hot items were… Baked eggs(nice side salad with gorgeous berries but the eggs were dry & poorly seasoned like not edible) Bacon was Neuske’s so we were excited but was much thinner than any of their cuts we’ve had…“it was horrible“ Cheesy grits & bison sausage… poached eggs were raw sitting in water in the saucer. The atmosphere was so nice & the gift shop was fun. We all enjoyed the space quite a bit and will be back. Hope for better food next time!

Café Osage is the prototypical shy-girl’s dream. I usually come alone, but occasionally, I’ll meet a friend there. It’s the perfect recipe for a quiet weekday outing. The light-filled, intimate café is lovely. I wouldn’t change a thing. It’s a mix of minimalist, botanical, bookish, modern and peaceful styles. I love the open shelving behind the bar, the interesting light fixtures, and the potted plants. They’ve nailed refinement and accessibility. The menu is concise, but I’m always impressed with the options; it’s like they know exactly what I want. This time, I started with a cappuccino, ordered the two-egg breakfast plate(which was thoroughly divine), and took an Osage sparkling soda to-go. The poached eggs were cooked correctly and the bison sausage and roasted potatoes were abundantly flavorful. The service was friendly, quick, and thorough, although it wasn’t exactly a busy time. I love the sweet little touch at the end with the bill: they bring it tucked in a vintage book filled with hand-written notes from previous patrons. Café Osage: I’m in love.

It breaks my heart to drop my rating from four to three stars because I’m so incredibly fond of this place — it’s my go to place for those visiting from out of town and I can’t tell you how many people I have introduced to it. On a Tuesday AM, I finished an appointment early and decided to treat myself to a breakfast at Café Osage. I came in around 9:30 and appeared to be the first customer. There were a group of service staff standing around and I was greeted promptly and offered to pick my seat. Before I did, I used the bathroom and noticed that the wash basin and the floor needed cleaning and the trash can was completely full of paper — — I thought it odd that it wasn’t cleaned after closing/before opening. My eggs were slightly undercooked and the cheese grits were barely room temperature. A slice of my bacon had a piece of lettuce stuck to it… and my order didn’t call for lettuce. I was predominantly the only table in there until the end of my meal when a group of three came in. I can’t help but wonder if Café Osage has lost its spark/passion as it seemed tired to me and as if no one cares to be on top of things or pay attention to detail. I sincerely hope I’m wrong.

Beautiful place to dine and the best features are the amazing garden, the shop & that super cool book that holds your bill. It’s a unique touch that allows guests to sign their name or whatever commentary we want. I arrived at 11:30am with breakfast on my mind but they stop serving breakfast at 10:30am. The service was dry, slow and frankly nothing to write home about. The lady who seated us didn’t even greet as I walked in she just asked, «one» as in the number of guest. I replied 2 and requested the garden. The server was ok but I specifically requested my salad dressing be put on the side and it arrived tossed in. She apparently noticed before she’d even gotten to the table with the salad because as soon as she placed it in from of me she apologized that it was, assured me she requested it on the side and asked if I’d like her to have it remade. No biggie, it wasn’t super saturated which is what I try to avoid by asking for sauce on the side. However, if it was noted before getting to the table I think she should have returned to the kitchen and had it remade. By this time we’d already been waiting nearly 25 minutes for soup & salad. The food was tasty; very fresh. My dining partner loved the tomato soup; it was thick & had an awesome basil taste. My salad had a wonderful combination of sweet & tart with apricot, goat cheese, toasted spiced pecans, greens & berries tossed in a raspberry vinaigrette.
