This is a local chocolate institution made with all fair trade cocoa and sugarcane. Their factory downtown is even open for free tours. Chocolate bars, truffles, chocolate covered espresso beans, chocolate covered strawberries: milk chocolate only ]=, chocolate covered pretzels, cocoa mix, and even large chocolates molded into bunnies, arches, cardinals… you name it everything St. Louis. My only real complaint is that not everything is available in dark chocolate. Do people really eat milk chocolate? Being an older institution, perhaps the milk chocolates used to be more popular and were the original recipe. I would love love love this place if they used some of their chocolate for hot cocoa, milkshakes, ice cream, espresso drinks… St. Louis has so many of those places though that they could probably just sell some of their chocolate to the coffee and ice cream shops for that kind of use.(Maybe they already do?) Anyway, loved all of their dark chocolates. I tried almost one of everything! Great place to shop for chocoholics!

What a pleasant surprise. I have lived in Saint Louis for 35 years and have never been to a Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate store. I’ve been to Ted Drew’s countless times and have picked up carry out at the Chinese restaurant next door, but never step foot inside CCCC. Today I was at Chippewa Eye Centre and when I left, I made a point to walk over and experience what I have been missing all these years. I say this with chocolate love, this place is a poor mans Godiva, Kakao or Bissinger’s. I couldn’t believe the price I paid for 6 truffles that tasted as if I should have been paying more. The three flavors I experienced were; Georgia Peach, Red Velvet Cake and Pumpkin. Georgia Peach lived up to its name, tasting like a juicy peach. The Red Velvet Cake also tasted like its’ name sake, but was the least flavorful of the three. With autumn just around the corner, I am going to remember these Pumpkins Truffles. They were very flavorful, bursting with rich pumpkin flavor. I also bought one of my favorite treats to take to a movie, Malted Milk Balls. These were some top notch MMB’s. I enjoy popping one in my mouth and letting it melt. Then the next one I will crunch and then continue alternating back and forth until they are gone or the movie is over. I got a good giggle at all the different molds they had for their milk chocolate. Who wouldn’t love a Milk Chocolate Fur Coat. They even had some nude male and females that could be a great bachelor or bachelorette gift.

I arrived a little early to pick up my carry out dinner next door and stopped in to «browse» the chocolates at the triple Chocolate Company. The young lady working was VERY sweet, she knows her chocolates too. She offered me a sample of anything I wished. While I was told triple Chocolate is known for their chocolate covered strawberries, I opted to build my own array of flavor filled box chocolates after sampling one of their sea salt caramels. I got all dark chocolates: a chocolate hay stack, a key lime chocolate, a butter cream caramel chocolate, a sea salt caramel chocolate, and toffee covered chocolate. My five chocolates came to about $ 6. While checking out there was a platter of their chocolate caramels for sampling, I kept pointing to different ones asking what’s this one, what’s that one? And the young lady knew exactly which ones were which. I sampled a raspberry caramel chocolate before leaving. They use real fruit in the filling and it was SO amazing. At home the hubby and I polished off the chocolate box together. The haystack was a little disappointing to me because it didn’t have a lot of coconut in it… it was more chocolate than anything. But it was good chocolate. My favorites were the toffee, the raspberry caramel and the sea salt caramel.
