Finally came in with my mom for lunch after reading great reviews. Also, this place is always packed when I drive by, so we gave it a try… We both ordered pulled noodle bowls. She got seafood, and I ordered beef. Not sure if I was missing something, but it was highly disappointing. Nothing wrong with the noodles themselves, but the soup and dish as a whole had zero flavor. None… zip… The seafood was rubbery and the shrimp tasted like the same shrimp you’d find in your combination fried rice. The beef dish was so bland and overfilled with bok choy. Glad we ordered the steamed pot stickers beforehand. I left there still hungry. My mom took a few bites and declined a take home box. On a positive note, the waitress was really nice…

I recommend anything on the menu, especially the fluffy ice. the mango fluffy ice is what I crave most. The noodles are awesome too! I think before the restaurant closed for renovations they were better, but they recently reopened so it could be just that they’re not in the groove of everything yet. It’s such a great place to go with family and friends. Every time I’m there I like to eat in and watch them make the noodles.

I came here to write a positive review for Corner 17 and found an abandoned review of the bad experience I had when I was first there years ago. I’m happy to report that since the remodel and facelift, all the issues are no longer valid. I loved the food here. It tastes authentic and delicious and I’m a hard critic when it comes to Asian food. I have been disappointed with local Chinese restaurants of late, so this was a breath of fresh air. I especially liked their hand shaven noodles. It was a nice texture and the noodles were had a nice amount of chewiness. The bone broth was sooo yummy. The only think I would have liked were scallions or cilantro to give it a little bite. But, I was perfectly please without it. It was a big bowl of simplicity. I also had the cumin lamb dish. It was well balanced with the peppers and not gamey. My boyfriend who doesn’t like lamb said it was his favorite Chinese dish he’s tried. The staff was attentive and nice, which I might add was not the experience I had before. The food also came out wicked fast, also contrary to my other experience. The place has recently had a big facelift so it looks sleek, modern, and clean. It was a great atmosphere! I’m excited to go back for their sweet menu items soon!

The noodles are unbelievably good. Best I’ve had outside of Asia. I highly recommend the crispy chicken app, handmade steamed dumplings, sliced beef handled noodles, and the boba milk tea. My new favorite soup and noodle restaurant. =)

Vernon’s was closed so we brainstormed some ideas and Corner 17 came up the winner. I’m glad it worked out his way. Let’s get the reason for the three stars(instead of four or five): we waited a bit long for service and my lady’s main dish came out several minutes before mine and the appetizer showed up weirdly between the two. While I appreciate an unusual new approach to dining, I prefer a some elements of tradition: appetizer first, give me some time to enjoy, THEN bring the main dish and, especially, bring EVERYBODY’S at the SAMETIME. It creates an awkward situation when my lady wants to eat hers while it’s hot but I’m staring at her like a forlorn puppy begging scraps from the Thanksgiving dinner table. Frankly, I’m just relieved this did not create a major diplomatic breakdown. However, at last, my food arrived. And on to the highlights! Our waiter recommend a special off-the-menu appetizer of hand-made steamed dumplings. These were divine. My order of hand-shaved pan-fried noodles was well worth the wait. The noodles, which Corner 17 prides itself on, had excellent form and flavor. Fresh made noodles are a rare treat and these were an artisan crafted masterpiece. The noodles were perfectly balanced in a stir fry of egg and vegetables. My lady had the hand-pulled noodles in a brown sauce and she was equally delighted. A final comment on drinks: I like boba drinks well enough but beans in my milkshake was just a bit weird for my admittedly western tastes. Corner 17 gets a solid recommendation with the hope that they fine tune their wait service to get the flow of dinner correct. Addendum: I am raising my review to FOUR stars just to thank Corner 17 for their gracious reply. How we accept criticism is an indicator of what quality of person we choose to be. I look forward to my next visit!

This place hits my craving spots. Food is simple and usually pretty quick unless it’s absolutely packed, which it often is on weekend nights. Flavors are actually pretty authentic. Some of the tastiest bubble tea you’ll find in this area, especially because their fruity flavors actually taste like fruit and isn’t too sweet. I don’t know if there’s any other place in St. Louis where you can get such fluffy Fluffy Ice! Highly recommend getting a big plate to share with friends!

This is my favorite go-to place on the loop. All the bubble tea is wonderful and you can ask for half-sweetened or sugarless bubble tea as well. The noodles here are my favorite and they’re LITERALLYAUTHENTICCHINESE, which is wonderful.

Decent food and interior. My friend and I went for a friday quick lunch. She got a beef shaved noodle with broth which looked authentic to me. The server made a mistake in my order but soon brought me a new one. The price is good for the portion you get. The bubble teas taste refreshing and not to sweet. Totally recommend this place.

This review is only for the boba slush, I have not tried their food. The consistency of the slush was terrible and full of large ice chunks when it should have a smooth powdery consistency. The boba was mushy and overcooked. There was minimal taro flavor and it tasted like they used powder rather than actual fresh taro. It was by far the worst boba slush that I have ever had. I would avoid ordering any slushies here just based on how poorly they executed my drink.

I love the new expansion so far! I came here with a large group for lunch on a weekend. We had to wait quite a bit for tables to free up but, the staff was very accommodating. The interior is much brighter and cleaner than what it looked previously. I love the Kelly green interior. Also C17 made sure to keep the big windows, where you can watch the chef pull noodles all day. I recommend getting the pulled noodle soup or the shaved noodle soup. The noodle soups give you a meat choice but I recommend the beef stew pulled noodle soup which comes with tender meat and the broth is very savory. Also they have the Chinese jajangmyun(black bean sauce noodle) on the menu which is pretty solid. If you’re a general t’so kind of person, they also offer other hot items besides noodles. Also don’t leave without grabbing a Cup of boba on the way out to fill your sweet cravings. My go to drink is the Corner 17 Milk Tea. One thing that put a cramp on my style is a few rude staffs that you might come across sometimes, making you feeling pretty salty, but don’t let that prevent you from going. They definitely do also have great individuals there that are making sure their customers are happy and filling their cravings. I am sure I will be returning! I definitely look forward to the full completion of their expansion.

Yes! It has finally reopened. However, I’m not sure whether it is for the better. Only time can tell… While the food remains great(at least for the stuff that was on the old menu), the restaurant has some serious problems. 1) There is a sense of chaos, even on a Thursday night. The chefs are busy(the noodle guy is constantly busy). The servers are rushing… Almost like chicken with its head chopped of. Granted, they probably lost some of their old servers while renovations were happening, which doesn’t help. There seems to be a lot of confusion on what their jobs are when it gets busy. They tend to be clustered by the register(probably cause there isn’t anywhere else they could stand) and in the 30 minutes i was there, I saw multiple instances where it takes 2 people to get something done. Again, this is probably due to lack of clear directions from management and lack of experience of the staff. 2) the place is noisy. The taller celing just amplify the noise. Again, add to the chos of the place. 3) the bathroom… It reminds me of Taiwan bathrooms. No it isn’t a good thing. There’s trash on the floor, the floor is sticky, and there’s puddles on the floor. Wouldn’t be surprise if someone squats on the seat. Again, with the staff being in chaos, I’m sure the cleanliness of the restroom is not a priority. To make things worse, one of the server pushed past me on my way back to my table. She muttered a sorry, but the damage is done. With all the other other new Chinese restaurants in town, I would advise the owners to seriously take notes of how they’re adapting to increase number of customers. Maybe hire a performance improvement group to evaluate. Check out other busy similar size restaurants(MaiLee for example managed to adapt to their bigger space well). You can’t afford to have servers standing around while tables with customer are waiting… Even if it is not your table. Maybe I’ll check back in a few months to see if it improves.

I was disappointed after going here one evening and finding out it was closed due to renovations, as this is one of my favorite places to eat on the Loop. However, I’m glad to see that the renovation is a massive success because it fixed some of the issues Corner 17 had previously. The old restaurant had problems with under-staffing and space, but the new, reworked Corner 17 addresses both of those issues as now there is ample space for the amount of traffic this restaurant gets in the busy Loop. We got seated and served promptly the restaurant had sufficient staffing(almost too sufficient). The new look is very modern and sleek. It is genuinely a one of a kind type of restaurant in St. Louis. While you may find a similar style and food restaurant in bigger cities like Chicago, Corner 17 fills that void for St. Louis very nicely. For those new to Corner 17, their menu consists of Chinese/Taiwanese food and delicious bubble tea. With the renovation, they offer a slightly expanded menu. They still have the core of their menu and what they are known for which is the hand-pulled noodles and shaven noodles. To pair with these noodles, they offer a variety of meats and also in a soup and pan-fried version. They make the noodles fresh in-house the entire day and you can even watch them in action while you are waiting for your food which is surprisingly entertaining. I would highly recommend getting the beef stew version of the noodles. If I’m craving a nice hearty, soup based meal, I usually go for the hand pulled noodles because they are easier to eat with the soup. I prefer the shaven noodles if I’m getting the noodles pan-fried. Their menu does also have other, more traditional items. My most recent time there, my girlfriend opted to try the cumin lamb. It was very delicious. I would recommend this dish if you aren’t in the mood for noodles. I haven’t had as much experience with their bubble tea, but last time I was there I got the mango milk tea and it was delicious. One minor gripe about their bubble tea is that they don’t explicitly ask what sugar level or ice level you want. Overall, Corner 17 is a very unique dining destination that covers a specific niche in the St. Louis area. I would highly recommend trying it.

If being asked what the best thing happened to me this weekend, no doubt would I say going to Corner 17. Corner 17 has been on my watch for a few months since it’s been closing down for renovation with little announcement of its reopening :(. The new Corner17 is more roomy and painted with a green-lime color theme, which gives it a very fresh and modern look. The whole restaurant is filled with more tables, and ofc more people :) Both my friend and I ordered their hand-pulled noodles with slow-cooked beef stew and pork ribs. The noodles, as named, is freshly hand-pulled. Despite being soaked in the broth for a while, the noodles does not go soggy. The meat is well-seasoned and cooked till tender(for my pork ribs, the meat part basically falls of the bone. yay). The price for a noodles bowl is about $ 7-$ 8. The servers are nice, but since the number of customers are overwhelming, it drives them a little behind. I for sure will make the time to go back here cuz I just simply love this place. Not the biggest fan of the lime green interior but the space feels big and open. There’s even an entertainment window where you can watch the ladies cut up the home-made noodles — to prove authenticity I guess? One of the ladies was sweat soaked and looked like she was being worked to death, not something I think they should advertise, perhaps a two-way mirror would be better. Lol. I got the homemade pan friend noodles with beef. The noodles didn’t taste homemade and the dish itself was very mediocre — something that I could’ve got at any Chinese take-out. My boyfriend got the shaved home-made noodles with beef broth. The noodles were tasty and fresh and the broth was good. We both got some boba which was pretty good. The boba was soft and chewy and the drink was not to sweet — just to my liking. I got the Corner 17 Milk Tea. Service is what you would expect at an Asian restaurant — perhaps slightly better.

Corner 17 looks great after their remodel. It’s modern with bright green and a fun atmosphere. There is a little room with glass windows where you can watch the guy pulling the noodles all day. It’s a nice touch and the noodles are fresh and delicious. Ate lunch here on Sunday and ordered the hand pulled noodles in soup with chicken. Got a little bit of the chili oil on the side to spice it up but even on it’s own the broth was delicious. It was rich and it was neither too salty nor too bland. I can’t wait to come back and try more of the expanded menu.

I have been craving some good Chinese/Taiwanese food for quite awhile and have been constantly encouraged to try Corner 17. Located on the Loop, parking may be a little difficult to find during the busy times. There is a small parking lot in the back, but it may still be hard finding a parking spot. The restaurant itself I would say is on the medium/small side. There’s about 8 four person tables, and a high table lined against the window. Everything looked clean and well organized. We were immediately seated and handed a menu. I was so happy to see so many dishes that reminded me of Taiwan(ahhh motherland!). This was the first place my wife and I have seen in St. Louis that serves Taiwanese salt and pepper chicken and CHINESESHAVEDICE! AH! My wife and I were soooo excited, you have no idea! It was pretty difficult figuring what to order. There were so many tasty sounding menu items. Corner 17 has a big list of handmade pulled or shaved noodles. I ended up with shaved noodles with minced meat and brown sauce. My wife ordered the Taiwanese salt and pepper chicken and a papaya bubble tea. The bubble tea is the best I have had in St. Louis, but I have only tried one other bubble tea place. The papaya flavor was awesome, and some of the boba was good and others were on the harder side. It really depended on the sip you took. The chicken was pretty good. It was fried well, but I feel like it could be flavored a little better. Maybe there just wasn’t enough seasoning. My dish was just okay. I’ve had better noodles, and I wasn’t a huge fan of the brown sauce. I think I’m going to get a soup dish next time. We were just way too full to get the shaved ice, but at least we know where we can get some. There’s a great variety of Asian dishes I haven’t been able to find in St. Louis, but I just felt like it wasn’t close enough to what I remember when visiting Taiwan. It does satisfy my craving though. I will be back for the shaved ice and bubble tea!

After running errands one night a while ago, I lost all motivation to cook dinner and was looking for something good to order to take home. I had walked by Corner 17 a few times while in the Loop and decided this night would be as good as any to check this place out. First of all, I LOVE that you can watch someone making the noodles you are about to eat! It is rather relaxing to watch them go through the art of making noodles… they have it down pat. They offer two kinds of homemade noodles, a spaghetti like noodle and then a handcut noodle that is more akin to pappardelle. I opted for the thicker hand cut noodles, but if and when I return… I think I will try the skinnier noodles. I think that these thicker noodles are better to eat in the restaurant than to take home for takeout because they got a little gummy from sitting in broth on my drive home. In addition to the noodles, I also ordered some kind of Asian hard-boiled egg… which was to die for. It was only $ 1/egg and had the best flavorful… definitely order one or a few of these!

I once gave this place a 5-star, but recently the food has only been average. They made some changes in, I believe, ownership. One partner bought out the other or whatever other rumors there are. I’m just not as impressed with the quality the last few times I’ve been in here. It’s not just me, either. I’ve talked to others who have noticed, too I say go see what you think.

I came by here on labor day. It was crowded seemingly because it was a holiday and other restaurants were closed. We found a place to sit at the window. The menu is rather simple and focus on their homemade noodle and rice dishes. They make their noodles in-house and they have a window in the kitchen where you can watch a guy making them. We both ordered the beef noodle soup and one bubble tea to share. My noodles came out in 10 minutes or so but my friends took another 15 minutes to arrive. No one wants to wait 15 minutes with hot soup to wait for the other party’s dish to arrive. Remember, we ordered the exact same thing so that should have simplified things. The noodles were great but they were frugal with the beef and the vegetables. I also would have appreciated some hot sauce on the counter as the soup needed some kick. The reason this is a 3 star review instead of 4 star is because of the service. I had to flag down a waiter to make my initial order and there was no attempt to refill water or clear dishes from the tables before customers got up to leave. In addition, waiting 15 minutes for the other noodle soup was a bummer and I was the one who had to say something to them to track it down. Nothing was said to us when the waiter initially brought out half of the order. I will probably try this place again but I won’t go out of my way when Mai Lee and others do a great noodle soup(phở) and provide better service.

I can’t believe it took me so long to get here! I loved watching the guy here make our noodles from scratch, it was so awesome and fascinating. I’ve had hand-pulled noodles in China but they weren’t as memorable as this place, which is a high compliment. I guess I should also stop complaining that there aren’t good enough Chinese restaurants here because I’m slowly being proved wrong, which is great! I’m glad it wasn’t too crowded on a Friday night because we arrived starving. The service was sweet and friendly and I kinda felt like I was in an urban part of China. The bubble tea was good but the noodles were my favorite. I ordered the zha jiang mien, the noodles with the brown sauce, and Joe ordered the noodle soup. I was weary judging from the reviews but they were perfectly made and totally hit the spot for both of us after a long work day. I have to admit, I cant always taste the difference between hand made pasta and store-bought pasta, so I assumed I wouldn’t be sophisticated enough to appreciate hand-pulled noodles. Boy, was I wrong! These were unbelievable. I don’t know how I’m going to eat regular noodles now. I have always suspected noodles were my favorite dish but I think these hand-pulled ones just confirmed this… I wish they would add cumin lamb skewers to their menu, because I heard they had it before and then took it ff? And the only thing that could improve my dish and all the noodle dishes is adding a runny egg on it! But I’m also just a slut for eggs. The taro milk tea was so delicious and the boba was on point. I feel kinda bad that StL bubble tea is just a few stores down! They don’t have as many options though, and they don’t have my favorite lavender milk tea. Their signature flavor was okay but the taro was the best. I left already thinking of when I’d be back and I’m definitely gonna bring all my friends here… and btw, my noodles were still delicious the next day!
