One of the best breakfasts my husband and I have found in St. Louis! Most importantly, the food was phenomenal. I had the pork belly benedict. It was perfection. Secondly, the restaurant is fairly small, but it’s quaint and has a great vibe. Our waitress wasn’t super attentive, but overall pretty good service. We will be back, next time with family and friends from out of town! Because the food is that good!

This was probably the best way to end my weekend trip to St. Louis. It’s located in a smaller space that is run as a separate restaurant during the week — which made the experience all the more special. As the waitstaff will tell you, the Cornbread Eggs Benedict is delicious. I usually think of Eggs Benedict as a heavier savory breakfast but was pleasantly surprised that the cornbread brought a light, sweetness! A must try.

Yes!!! A low-key, laid back breakfast place where I can easily find parking and a great mimosa. Seems to be hard to find in stl. Their mimosas are great. I think they freshly squeeze their oj, not sure, but it definitely tastes like it. Everything is really fresh here and well thought out. I tried their beef chakchouka and it was really really tasty. It would have been better with less potatoes and more veggies, but this is a personal preference as I don’t care for potatoes. You MUST get the mushroom gravy. This stuff is so good, it should be smothered on everything you eat. Seriously. Get it. Now. I’ll be dreaming about it all week since I can’t get it again until they reopen on the weekend.

My girlfriend and I came here for breakfast. We were seated very fast and had a very nice waitress. The food came out fairly fast for how busy they were. The food looked and tasted amazing! Overall great experience!

Great place for brunch! The restaurant was full but, surprisingly, there was no wait. The drinks came out fast and the food was exceptional. Get the breakfast sopes with carnitas! The service here is also outstanding every single time so I’m always happy to give them my money.

Egg is amazing! I had the Chakchouka– beef in a tomato and bell pepper stew, with two eggs cracked on top and then baked. It was phenomenal! My boyfriend had the pulled pork hash which was equally tasty. They were fresh-squeezing oranges for their mimosas to order… Service was personal and great– at the end they brought us out free tortillas so my boyfriend could help me finish off my Chakchouka. Hearty portions. We can’t wait to come back!

Stumbled upon this place this morning when searching for a place to grab a Bloody Mary and some food for our hangovers. This place is amazing!!! We got a complementary slice of corn bread covered in an amazing mushroom gravy! I had two street tacos and my BF had a street taco and a sopes. The owners are very hospitable and funny. You can tell the love what they do. If you haven’t found the Egg yet, I suggest you start the hunt.

Hubby and I set out to find a new place. Egg won. So, so glad we stopped in and we will most definitely go back again! It was a little confusing because the door says Spare No Rib, just know that is what the name is 5 – 6 days a week! Egg is breakfast/lunch weekends only! We were greeted right away and sat. The staff were all very friendly. The menu is small, but mighty! These men are from Northern Africa, the recipes they offer are Tunisian. So good, flavorful! I had the Hashes with Poached Eggs.(A veggie hash made with red and yellow peppers, onions, mushrooms, brussel sprouts). Freshly squeezed orange juice and Hubs got the Chorizo Breakfast Tacos with a side of their fantastic potatoes! They brought over a wonderful thick hot sauce for us to try… Fabulous addition to my hash! Check it out! Can’t wait to try something else!

Hubby and I wanted to find a new brunch place, and this got my vote! It’s a small venue, so beware if trying to come with large groups. Staff is incredibly friendly, and the owners went out of their way to come and check on us. Classy touch! Food was excellent – I ordered the breakfast taco with carne asada, and a freshly-pressed OJ. The taco is a smaller portion, but filling and with great flavor. Also highly recommend the OJ… none of that added-sugar, sickly sweet taste here! Hubby got the cornbread Benedict with smoked pork belly and a side of breakfast potatoes… omg, delicious! I ended up stealing more than a bite or two from his plate. Thanks for a great brunch! We will be back to check out their sister restaurant, Spare No Rib.

Fantastic service and excellent food. Egg resides in the same building and suite as Spare No Rib(I assume they are run by the same owners) and the service is top notch. A couple of us were lost trying to find the place, little did we know that egg is the little sister of Spare No Rib. Egg is only open on Saturday and Sunday morning, though I wish they were open on the weekdays too. The menu is smaller than other breakfast place which is great because they can focus on creating quality dishes(which they’ve done so). I had the cornbread pork belly benedict. An excellent combination of texture; the porkbelly served over cornbread complemented each other perfectly. Who would’ve thought? The hashbrowns that came with the dish were so-so though. My friend had the chakchouka, a Tunisian dish, as mentioned by our waiter. Also, a great dish and my friend devoured it. I will definitely be coming back to try the other dishes. Tip: park next to the building. The middle of the parking lot is reserved for their neighbors.

Ended up at this restaurant thanks to Unilocal! On the edge of Soulard on Gravois west of the Lemp Mansion Egg has also been known as Spare No Rib. This is a breakfast/brunch spot with a Mexican flare. The ambiance is very industrial and bright. It really works for the location and temper of the space. I had the cornbread Benedict with pork belly, and sides of potatoes and chorizo. Washed it down with coffee and a mimosa. The Benedict dish was nearly perfect. Poached eggs on pork belly and a slightly sweet cornbread topped with hollandaise. Just absolutely DELICIOUS. The potatoes were southwestern with onion and red bell pepper and crispy diced. Crunchy and good. The chorizo perfectly complimented the eggs and cornbread and went nicely with the potatoes. Liked the coffee too. Had a bit of chickory flavor it seemed. The staff was friendly and the owner/chef came and chatted with us and was very pleasant. He even discussed horseshoes with us after finding out we came from the Springfield IL, area. He said he’s added a horseshoe to his menu in the past and got great feedback on it. Very nice! I highly recommend this restaurant. Eat here soon!

Enjoyed a very nice breakfast here with their signature Eggs Benedict dish. Great flavor(although I think there’s way too much onion). Haha! Coffee is very strong, maybe too strong… I wasn’t a big fan of it actually and only drank one cup. We asked for milk(for our coffee) and the smallest container was brought to us containing said milk, LOL. When I asked for more, they returned to the table with a larger(and proper) milk container. Prices are reasonable. Service was a tad off… we had at least 4 different folks helping us and that makes it strange, I think. I want to know who my go to person is while I’m dining… I believe the owner later came to our table and thanked us for visiting, I thought it was very nice and genuine. I’ll be back to try this place again cause I really do love breakfast!

Stopped in finally on a Sunday afternoon for brunch. This is only open on Saturday and Sunday from 9 – 2. We ordered the eggs Benedict with corn bread and pork belly — this is very good but a tiny bit heavy for me. The corn bread is sweet and rich which I’m sure some people would like. I loved it but couldn’t finish it. This is served with American potatoes which are small and mixed with onions. Soooo great! We also ordered the Chakchouka which is like a poached egg on top of salsa and then baked. You can choose the vegetarian version but we chose the beef. This was my favorite of our two dishes. For drinks we ordered the coffee, a Bloody Mary(upgraded with infused pepper vodka) and the Hot Espresso martini(most excellent!!). We loved it and great service. We will for sure be back!!!

With the Sunday breakfast market in St Louis so strong, they bring it quite strong. Creative and unique dishes with booze for breakfast, great! I did the Unilocal’r thing, followed my online friends and tried what everyone else tried… the Shakshuka. Maybe the cook’s timing was a bit off that morning, but the dish was served a little luke-warm and my eggs were still a little clear. Good thing I kinda like that. I think it was definitely isolated and is not the norm. Bloody Mary was legit, and the potatoes were nicely done! Not my favorite Sunday brunch joint, but definitely wouldn’t discourage anyone from going. In fact, I’d send them. I’ll be back.

Anyone who knows me at all knows I add an egg to nearly everything. Everything can be improved with an egg. Eggs give me life. So I was thrilled that there was a place called Egg in StL and even more thrilled at the rave reviews and hassled everyone around me until we finally made the trip. The décor and everything is cool; I had no idea Spare No Rib(the restaurant space it uses) even existed before this. I came with 2 friends and my husband, and we all ordered different things. It kind of went off to a bad start with the Bloody Mary that tasted strangely bitter. My husband is not the kind of person who will send stuff back – but after a couple of sips he just couldn’t take it anymore. He said it reminded him of the Chinese medicine his parents used to force him to have. We looked around and saw other people sipping on theirs so maybe it was just his. He told the waitress and she replaced his drink but insisted there was nothing wrong with it. But at this point all 4 of us had sampled it and agreed it had been made wrong. The food here was all right but nothing great. My husband enjoyed his dish the most – the pork belly corn bread benedict. It was definitely the tastiest and I kept sneaking bites of his the most. The pulled pork hash was pretty good. I liked the creativity of the menu but something just wasn’t working. I’m so glad I tried it, but I probably won’t be back.

I can now say, «Been there, ate there.» I will also say, it is very likely that I will not return. Like Ms. Hao, nothing WOW-ed us. It was«just ok», which for me is a step down from A-OK. There were two of us dining and we had three entrees. The first one we shared as an appetizer and it was the Topped Sweet Cornbread. This is their creative version of Biscuits and Gravy. They were nice enough to cover half of it with the Wild Mushroom Gravy and the other with Fennel Pork Sausage Gravy. It was nice to be able to taste both gravies. However, the cornbread was so sweet it dominated our tastebuds. The mix of sweet and savory did not blend together. The sweetness dominated the dish. For our main(second) entrée we each ordered a different Cornbread Benedict. I had the Sautéed Spinach and Avocado and my friend who loves Pork Belly had the Smoked Pork Belly. Each came with a side of Breakfast Potatoes, which were crisp cubes of potato with sautéed onion. I also think they did a good hollandaise sauce, but like the previous dish the cornbread over dominated and did not let the other flavors blend together. My friend said the pork belly she buys at Trader Joe’s is better then what was on her Benedict. I enjoyed my mixture of Sautéed spinach and avocado, but think the avocado would have been much better as a solo act instead of the duet. The alcohol drinks were made fresh to order and the star of the brunch. When they say, fresh squeezed juice, they mean it. You could see them squeezing each orange for the Mimosa and the grapefruit for the Italian Greyhound at the bar. For the Bloody Mary, for an additional $ 2 you can add their house infused pepper vodka. I always like an extra kick to my Bloody Mary. In closing; the service was attentive and friendly. By itself the cornbread is delicious. I’d love a chunk of it by itself with some honey whipped butter, but mixed in with the entrees did not work for either of us. Also, be sure to park on the street or between the green parking stripes or Hodak’s the chicken joint next door will have your car towed. Like Hao, I do not regret giving it a try, but it is unlikely that I will return. When: December 6, 2015 Why: Brunch

I was really excited to try a breakfast place called Egg. Eggs tend to be the star of my breakfasts and brunches. I was expecting something amazing… and it fell a little short. Don’t get me wrong, the food here is pretty good. Fellow Unilocaler Amrita and I came here with our SOs. We all ordered different things: pork belly corn bread benedict, Pulled pork hash, Sausage gravy topped cornbread, and beef Chakchouka. While we thoroughly enjoyed the food, nothing WOW-ed me. All in all, it was an ok experience. Will I come back? Unlikely. Do I regret giving it a try? Not at all.
