I just had the exact same experience as a few others have recently described. There were probably 100 empty parking spots in this lot and absolutely no parking at the Chipotle that is in the same complex. The lots are not separate. The«no parking» signs are definitely newer. I go there a lot and have never seen them. Today, I came out after less than 10 minutes and my car was being put on the truck.(They had already towed multiple cars in the 10 minutes I was inside). The tow truck driver and his co-worker told me they watched me park and go in, which proves that this is a money making scheme and has nothing to do with lack of parking. I had to pay $ 150 cash to get my car off the tow truck. If I used a credit card, it would have been $ 250!That’s a $ 100 fee for using a card. I parked in one spot in a lot of 100 empty spots for 10 minutes and had to pay $ 150. I am lucky I could get the money, some other people who were in the same boat as me obviously could not. Since there are only about 20 – 30 spots for a Chipotle and Starbucks to share and many empty spots at Grand View, the Grand View management saw an opportunity to make money by taking advantage of people. It’s private property and perfectly within their legal rights to restrict parking, but it is a creepy, sneaky, dishonorable, mean-spirited thing to do(especially in a poorer urban area). Chipotle and Starbucks need to figure out this parking situation. I go to Chipotle multiple times per month but I will skip this location until something is done about this. I am certain someone is going to get hurt in this lot. I actually called the police because there were multiple very angry people in the parking lot, and I was afraid of escalation. Hope this is worth it to you, fine folks at Grand View!

Towed my car within being there for less than 20 minutes of parking there. There was recently a move of the boundaries for where you could park at Chipotle/Starbucks. We’ve parked in this lot plenty of times with no problem. They now have a towing company waiting int the parking lot, praying on people that don’t know that there were small signs put up. This is PREDATORYTOWING and is an unethical and inconsiderate business practice. If you plan on living in this building, plan on dealing with management as terrible as the building itself. Also take note that their ONLY positive review is from someone who WORKs for the company. As someone who lives in the area, I can say beyond a doubt I would never consider living in this building despite the fact that I work less than walking distance from it. Don’t believe their self promotion and find yourself a better place to live.

I have been coming to the starbucks next to this apartment complex and have used the parking lot countless times, which apparently is shared with the apartments. Recently, signs were put up indicating that only residents are allowed to park there(fully within the apartment complex’s right). I have been so accustomed to parking there that I missed the sign. I did not look at the sign and then willfully choose to ignore it and park there anyway. I did not even see the sign because I have always always parked there with no problem. Within the 1.5 hours I was at starbucks, the management put a final notice sticker on my car and had it towed. I understand that they have the right to do this and that the signs were up but this is a jerk move. They could have put a sticker on my car and recorded my plate number and put it on a list and if I ever parked there again had it towed. How could I ever have gotten the warning if they had it towed immediately? I had to pay $ 250 to the towing company because the apartment managers are jerks. One act by this management drastically affected me; I’m now late on other payments and will incur even more fees. It wouldn’t have been too much to ask that they put a warning sticker and if the car is still parked the next day have it towed. If the same car consistently parks there despite warnings, have it towed. Also, the time on the sticker was wrong because I arrived half an hour after the time written on the sticker. I hope they filled out form 4669 written authorization to tow in Missouri or else they will be liable for 4 times the cost of my tow charges according to Missouri law. I must also note that the parking lot had at least 50% vacant spots so it was not an issue of their tenants needing to park when unauthorized vehicles were parked there. Just so you get an idea of how unclear the parking situation/rules are, a starbucks employee’s car was also towed while I was there and she didn’t know she couldn’t park there so I’m assuming that she had been parking there daily without any problem and all of a sudden her car was towed with no warning.

I recently visited someone here two different times. I WILLNOT go back. The lobby is totally deceiving. Someone said Mayor Slay was there a couple weeks ago to give a talk. Too bad he didn’t get on the elevator and visit some apartments unannounced. If the one I visited is any example of even some of the others, the owners should be prosecuted. There were roaches crawling in the carpet. Bed bugs were in the upholstered furniture. Water stains covered the walls. Hall carpeting is frayed and buggy. When I left the apartment I was visiting I walked on some of the other floors & they were the same. There are signs in the lobby forbidding residents to sit(loiter) in their own lobby, for god’s sake. Do not, I repeat, do not think the paneled lobby and attractively painted administrative offices represent the building. Students don’t rent here because it is substandard housing and with the bugs everywhere, it could be dangerous to your health. It is a travesty that these people must accept tenement housing simply because they are HUD tenants.

Bottom line up front: Very convenient location vis a vis SLU, the price is great, and the rooms are nice. But don’t expect many student-tenants, most are elderly, disabled, and/or Section 8 recipients. I lived here for a year and then moved into a friend’s 2-bedroom in the CWE. The pros, besides the major ones listed above, are good water pressure, a very short jaunt to the SLU bar district, cable and utilities included, and a clean and modern fitness room, as well as free wifi in the basement. Oh, and plenty of free parking. As for the cons, I felt very awkward being the youngest person in such a large building, and one of the few people with a job, even though I knew the price and location were perfect for a SLU student. There’s a 24h security guard who is both a blessing and a curse. He keeps an eye on the place, but also makes EVERY visitor sign in and out, complete with ID check. He’s likely a necessity, as he keeps a very long list of people banned from the building, which leads me to another major con: crime, the immediate area has it. I had no problems during my year at Grandview, but I wouldn’t move back because it serves to a different demographic.
