Went a while back w a large family group. We love to eat and try lots of things and this is a perfect place for that. The butchers board and the burgers really stood out for us. Service was good and we got to meet the wife of the chef owner which was cool. It isn’t the cheapest place to go out w family but I thought our tab wasn’t too crazy considering we tried a butt load of stuff and had a few drinks. Loved it. Can’t wait to go back.

We happened to come across this place– looking up nice restaurants in the area near us– looking up this restaurant had great reviews — we had called an they didn’t have a wait– going in– the wait had changed to 45 mins– and we live only seven mins away– they had taken a 13 top– that not only ordered 13 hamburgers — but literally just didn’t deny the party– a server had told us that the party was a walk in an wasn’t sure why they had taken them– but in my eyes — out meal was over 60 dollars for two people — would you rather take hamburger parties«or have a party of two that was worth 4 Kobe beef burgers– Besides my rant the food is highly recommended — the server was very pleasant — she made the long wait certainly worth waiting for — unfortunately she did tell us the proportions were small– we were definitely full off just the apps interesting menu–

Second time here and it was amazing! Spent NYE here with another couple, Wendy was our server and the night was perfect! They had a few different items for NYE and it was all delicious. You HAVE to try the turkey leg nachos! The surf and turf special was a filet and crab entrée with carrots, kale, and Yukon mashed potatoes. Everything was cooked perfectly, extremely flavorful and different. For dessert we ordered the carrot cake and a chocolate mousse thing. The cream cheese icing on the carrot cake was some of the best I’ve ever had. Wendy was friendly, attentive, not too intrusive and explained menu items perfectly. They even had a small 2-person band providing live music! Great evening all around! We will definitely be back!

We went on a Friday night and was seated immediately. I loved the ambiance of the place. The service was pleasant and fast. I got the meatballs plate as my main dish. It was pretty flavorful but the meat itself was kind of dry. My bf got the salad and he said«it was the best salad he’s had in a while». There was a light vinaigrette flavor and I thought it was pretty refreshing. He also got the burger which had a nice topping flavoring! But there was almost too much of it which made the burger soggy and messy. I thought the burger meat was a little dry but the bf didn’t agree. I would definitely come back to try some other plates!

This place is surprisingly food. I had a co worker suggest it. Group of four went on a Saturday night and the wait was about 20 mins, so not bad. We got the turkey leg nachos as an app. It was delicious. The combination of the sweet potato chips, turkey, and ranch was perfect. My boyfriend and I both got the burger. First off it’s huge. The taste kinda reminded me of a big mac(maybe the sauce?), but fancy, real meat and far superior. It was a great burger, we would both get again. We also split the fries which were great, the aioli was spot on. Service was good enough and the hostess was very friendly. We will definitely go back and try other things on the menu.

Pretty dang good. Pretty cool building with simple but unique décor. Food was legit we had the turkey nachos and a salad as apps which were both really nice. We weren’t super hungry so we had the burger and the chicken panini. The burger was exceptional. I asked for medium and it was on point, actually probably med-rare which i appreciated. Super juicy and flavorful. The chicken panini was decent at best but thats really on us for ordering a panini at place like this. My brother and his gf both had the meatloaf and their plates looked amazing-they both raved about their dishes. I really respect that fact that this place uses local ingredients such as the pork, which is from a really good, naturally raised pork farm in Wash, MO. Sweet place. We’ll be back.

I be bad. I thought I had written a review for Grapeseed and then noticed I hadn’t written a review for one of my favorite restaurants in the South Hampton area. I have dined alone, with a friend and in a group of good size and each time the food and service has been stellar. Having been raised on a beef farm, I am very partial to grass fed beef and Grapeseed offers one of the, if not the best grass fed burgers in STL. It comes from Rain Crown Ranch and is served with a true special sauce, lettuce, cheddar cheese, homemade pickles and onion all served on a Brioche bun. I’ve had it on the bun and without and either way I love it. When I’m going low-carb, I go without the bun. However, I have been known to go bun-less so I can enjoy their amazing house cut fries with house aioli. Now these I will say, without a doubt are the best fries. They are thick cut, skin on, seasoned well and fried crisp. In addition to the house aioli, you get a little cup of ketchup. Another great meal is combining my two favorite small plates; Tagliatelle and the House Smoked Trout Cake. The tagliatelle combines Double Star farms lamb with Salume Beddu pork bolognese mascarpone with pizzicato cheese & oregano gremolata. Those who dine with me, have the risk of getting forked if they try to sneak a sample off my plate. A picture is worth a thousand words, so look at the one I posted of the trout cake and you’ll see how delicious it is. The menu can change based on deliveries from the local farmers, but when and if you see the Flank Steak on the menu — order it. It will be tender and mouth watering. I always get mine done rare medium. My favorite cocktail is the Moscow Mule and I like their version; Macklind Mule served in the traditional copper mug. I’m glad Grapeseed is in my hood. I will continue to support them and hope you will give them a try.

Our dinner was excellent! I started with a pumpkins spice soup with dill cream and pumpkin seeds. Yummy! Full of flavor, very comforting. Next up was the Pork Chop with carrots, apples and a sweet potato soufflé. The chop was cooked perfect and the flavor was outstanding! The soufflé was delicious. My nephew had a spinach salad and the meat loaf, which were both very good. A small quaint space, great for a special occasion dinner. I’m looking forward to my next visit.

What a great place! I would say that everyone should give them a shot but it’s not the type of food everyone likes. Personally, I can get behind a lot of creativity when it makes sense… at Grapeseed, it makes a lot of sense! Some places like to throw a bunch of disparate ingredients into a dish in the name of creativity or fusion and their dishes come off as being somewhat awkward. Fortunately, that is not what is happening here. For example, the turkey leg nachos — dark meat is the always the most flavorful on the bird so it benefits from being paired with some bolder flavors… sweet potato chips dusted with a little cinnamon made perfect sense along with some buttermilk dressing. Likewise, the addition of halved artisan grape tomatoes also worked really well. The description of this item included a «firecracker» sauce but it wasn’t a spicy dish to my taste. As much as I loved the nachos, I thought the best bite of the evening was the smoked trout cake. I am a big fan of smoked food and this was one of the better smoked fish dishes I’ve ever been served. Trout is an inherently fishy fish. This dish played off that with a big smoky flavor to offset some of the fishiness and the(not very spicy) remoulade paired nicely as a sauce that brought some creaminess to this warm dish — yet another surprise as most smoked fish is served cold. Add in a sprinkling of roe for an interestingly salty pop and the dish was pure heaven for me. We met another Unilocal couple here for dinner at their suggestion and had an absolutely fantastic evening… fantastic food, fantastic cocktails and fantastic company. Between the four of us we ate our way through almost the entire top third of the menu plus some tasty desserts. Add in some excellent service and it was a perfect evening.

Wandered in during Macklind Days street festival. My guy got a Ferguson Pecan Brown and I opted for a glass of Montepulciano red wine. Ordered a board to share; crostini loaded with eggplant, chimichurri, ricotta salata and fresh herbs. Delicious! Chatted with the bartender a bit. Plan to come back for dinner sometime. Really tasty food!

Great neighborhood gem! When you order things you typically don’t eat or like and find yourself a raving fan afterwards… that is the sign of a great chef. We had dinner for two on the patio. Our server was excellent and kept things flowing without hovering over us and provided excellent recommendations when asked. We started with the Buttonwood Farm turkey leg nachos and house smoked trout cake as appetizers and were impressed. I am not a huge fan of dark meat or sweet potato chips but this completely won me over as the flavor, balance, and presentation were all spot on. I envisioning ordering this again on my next visit. Similarly, the trout cakes were superb with a nice spice that paid compliments to the cake. For drinks, my dining companion ordered the Macklind Mule which was a balanced, refreshing drink that was truly enjoyable. I had Thomas Goss Cabernet that went well with the meal and something I would order again. Our entrees consisted of: 1) Circle B Farm heritage breed«Berkshire» pork chop* crispy lemon & Goatsbeard Farm goat cheese polenta cake * grilled Double Star Farms summer squash & bell peppers * basil cream * Scharf Farm smoked peach butter Everything on this entrée was prepared to perfection and full of flavor. I sampled the chop and found it to be one of the most tender and moist meats I had ever eaten. Congratulations to the owners and chef for purchasing quality products and preparing them in a manner that truly embraces the essences of what Grapeseed is all about. I tip my hat to the chef for this meal. 2) Stuffed bell pepper w/Buttonwood Farm smoked chicken * local zucchini summer yellow squash * Ozark Forest wild mushrooms * onion * roasted garlic Thies Farm heirloom tomato sauce * bed of wild rice * lemon-feta vinaigrette This was my entrée and I don’t care for stuffed peppers but I thought I would be adventurous and give it a try and I am glad I did. I fell in love with this meal from the first bite and was loath to share it with my dinner companion as I wanted to eat every morsel. Well prepared, bursting with flavor and filling without being stuffed(me, not the pepper). Every ingredient was fresh, well-made, and went well as a combination. We both agreed that on next return we would likely swap entrees as we both loved everything we tasted. Dessert was a bread pudding that would rival the best desserts in St. Louis. Full of flavor and make lite enough, for a bread pudding, that it didn’t leave you feeling overfed. I had a berry dessert with some sort of sorbet that was passable and was the only thing I regretted. However the bread pudding was sufficient for the two of us and we make quick picking of it. Our experience was wonderful from seating, services, and dining. Grapeseed delivered at every spectrum of our expectations and we look forward to returning. Dinner for two including a generous tip was $ 154 I will return to the restaurant and highly recommend it to others.

Unlikely to blow your mind, but Grapeseed is a solid four-star restaurant worth checking out. Sort of similar to Farmhaus, with less of a focus on seafood. Don’t take reservations, but we didn’t have to wait at all on a Friday night ~8pm. They were busy, but not completely full. Four of us ordered a handful of small plates, some salads, and shared the meatloaf entrée(which rocked — and is one of the many reasons I kept thinking of Farmhaus). The turkey leg nachos were good, and pretty unique, but I probably wouldn’t order them again. Enjoyed the wild mushroom bruschetta. Menu changes often and they do have lots of specials. I think about half of what we ordered were specials, and not on the regular menu. Cocktails are expectedly a mix of classic with twists here and there. Service was good outside of a minor bit of rudeness from our server. One of our friends we were dining with had shared with us earlier that she was expecting her second child. We were so excited, and celebrated a bit. I mentioned this to our server, and asked nicely if the bartender would whip up something really fun that doesn’t have alcohol in it — dealer’s choice. Her response was something along the lines of, «We don’t do that. The bartender doesn’t have time. Maybe if it was not Friday and we were not busy.» I was surprised by her response, mostly because I have found that bartenders typically enjoy being asked something like that, whether it has alcohol in it or not. Pretty common for me to request at mixologist hipster type cocktail bars, and the response is always positive and enthusiastic. The funny part is, about 10 minutes later the server comes back and kind of sheepishly/awkwardly hands our friend a reddish-pink drink in a highball glass, custom-made by the bartender, without alcohol. And the drink was fantastic. I can only speculate how that played out, but it would have been nice if the server said something like, «Turns out the bartender was able to make you a drink. Enjoy!» I am 90% sure the server went to the bartender and said, «Ohmigosh. Some customers are so annoying. They requested a custom nonalcoholic drink from you on a Friday night and we are busy!» and the bartender said, «Ummm I am happy to make them a unique non-alcoholic drink.» Ah well. Would I recommend Gradeseed to someone? Sure. Someone like my parents. Or to friends that live in the county and don’t go out much. Would I recommend it to someone who is really, REALLY into food and goes out in the city often? Probably not, but if you want a nice dinner and forgot to make reservations, Grapeseed is work checking out. Words that describe Grapeseed: Good. Fine. Solid. Above Average. Grapeseed is exactly what you expect it to be, which for most people is a good thing.

What a great place! The beautiful patio in the back is perfect for this time of year in the evenings! And they’ve got some pretty unique items on the menu — even some the classics have something special going on! Turkey Leg Nachos — Sweet potato chips, tomato, «firecracker» sauce, roasted pepper, buttermilk dressing and micro herbs. The turkey was very tender and sweet. The chips were light, crunchy and not overly seasoned. The«firecracker» sauce was also sweet, which I didn’t expect due to it’s name. The dressing was the creamy and the herbs provided a nice little bit of leafy texture to round out the whole dish! Burger — According to the menu, this burger is topped with special sauce, lettuce, cheddar, pickles and onion. But what arrived at our table was quite different. Based on what I saw and what I tasted, it appeared to be a burger with a layer of melted cheese and then a thick layer of sweet, creamy coleslaw. So… maybe the lettuce, pickles and onion were chopped up and mixed with the special sauce and piled high? I dunno. But what I DO know — this burger was totally awesome and we loved every bite! I feel like both of these dishes were something I can’t find anywhere else and they were both beautifully executed! We will certainly return again soon!

After much anticipation, I can say that Grapeseed has lived up to the hype. Came here tonight with a friend. The atmosphere was casual and inviting. The service was spectacular, attentive without being overbearing. The decorations were simple and tasteful, it made for a nice dining experience. The food was phenomenal. The 2 of us split the Ozark mushroom bruschetta, rock shrimp flatbread, and ricotta gnocchi. We could not pick a favorite and polished all 3 off kith out hesitation. We each also ordered a fantastic and reasonably priced glass of red wine to compliment the meal! Why 4-stars with such rave reviews? It was incredibly loud in the restaurant despite it being a rather quite weeknight. We could barely hear each other!

For my last day in saint Louis, before heading home, my parents took me to grape seed. Mostly for the burger. But being on my veggie kick I decided to try the veggie burger. It did not disappoint. It drives me crazy when people say«you won’t even miss the meat» when it comes to a burger being swapped with a veggie burger. However, this one was the closest I have come to «not missing the meat» it was very tasty. For all you vegetarians in the area, try it! The fries are wonderful as well and I love the sauces that come with them! I will be back!

3.5 stars. This restaurant does not take reservations, and it was packed when we went. Fortunately, there are somewhere between 25 – 30 bar seats, so we put our name on the list(90 minute wait), and we only waited around 15 minutes before seats opened up for us. The food: Gnocchi and brussels– it just needed some salt. The nut and brussel combo was nice, but it was kind of lacking in depth. The gnocchi was fine . Turkey nachos– every person around us got it, so we had to try it. Sweet potato chips covered with house firecracker sauce, bacon, red onion, roasted peppers, house buttermilk dressing & local micro greens. It could have used some more spice. Large portion, great for sharing. Shrimp and Grits– four large gulf shrimp and tasty grits. Probably the best dish. We really enjoyed our experience here. The server was getting his butt kicked, but he did a great job. It’s a little bit out of the way from where I live, but I’d be willing to try more food here. The menu is very reasonably priced.

My two friends and I wanted try something new for dinner and came here after finding out our original destination was closed due to renovation. This was probably the best decision we’ve made to start the weekend! Grapeseed sits in a corner surrounded by quiet Southampton residential neighborhood. Parking was a bit limited, but we were lucky to find the last available spot at the closed body shop with a sign that said«Grapeseed Parking.» I believe the rainy weather was in our favor because the restaurant wasn’t too busy for a Friday night. Atmosphere: The space was small and felt very intimate, making it a great spot for a date or even a place to dine with friends. The repurposed wood and nicely dimmed lights gave it a rustic vibe, and I enjoyed the local art on the wall. We were seated along the long table that faced the window front which made sharing small plates a little awkward, but we didn’t mind. No worries they do have regular tables. We were too hungry to wait. Menu: I really enjoyed checking out their menu. Their menu seemed to satisfy any type of hungry patrons from small plates to sandwiches to a main plate. The menu descriptions didn’t seem very fussy, but feels familiar and comforting. Also the ingredients consist of seasonal items. My friends and I decided to do small plates to get a taste of little everything. Every plate on our table was pretty filling and refined. Chicken Bruschetta($ 8) The Bruschetta was heaven on sliced bread. The flavor combination was perfection. The hot pepper jelly gave a nice, subtle kick while the black bean spread was creamy and smooth Also the cilantro gave a nice crisp texture. It seems like the universe conspire to make the most delicious bruschetta. I wouldn’t order a plate for myself. Beef Tortellini($ 9) The Tortellini was a beautiful plate, but was a bit lackluster in taste. We couldn’t taste all the great components on the plate besides the kale, which seemed to overpower the whole dish. The horseradish & pumpkin purée was a little disappointing. We only ordered this because the ingredient description said it would have«fairytale» pumpkin. Arancini($ 5) Arancini was a great starter dish. The fried ball was stuffed with chorizo & mozzarella, and the mariana was spicy and tangy. Gnocchi($ 9) Gnocchi came with brussels sprouts and pecans in a brown butter sauce. Another great dish, and who doesn’t love butter? Drink Menu Grapeseed’s cocktail menu is highly recommended. The cocktails are traditional with a little twist. An item I recommend enjoying on its own. I personally don’t like drinking beer or cocktails with my meals. I would say the group’s favorite was the Macklind Mule. Also ask about their seasonal special cocktails as well! Overall, I am a fan of this new establishment. I hope to come back for more… especially to try out their burgers. Thank you Grapeseed for a wonderful meal! We are so glad we stumbled at your doorstep.

I had seen this place while driving down Macklind Avenue and read that this place had just opened up a month or so ago. Soo… Saturday night dinner date with my wife! We walked in at about 6:30pm and the place was starting to get pretty full. Here’s the conversation we had with the hostess. Hostess: Hi, welcome to Grapeseed, do you have a reservation? Me: We do not. Hostess: There’s a 20 minute wait right now, would that be okay? Me: Yes that’s fine.(I saw some long tables lined against the window) Me: Are those reserved too or could we just sit there? Hostess: Oh yeah, you can sit there if you like, they are not reserved. We ended up not waiting and sitting at the tables that lined the windows. I didn’t mind it at all, it was just like a bar but instead of looking at vast amounts of alcohol you were looking at the street.(I do enjoy me some people watching: P) Oh and there is this table situated right in the center of the room when you walk in. It’s kind of awkward, and I feel like it’s not a great use of space. Here is what we ordered. Local grass fed burger(4⁄5) — This is a good burger I must say. The bun, the meant, the cheese, everything worked so well together.(does not come with a side) Texas gulf shrimp(4⁄5) — Very good. The sauce made from sweet potatoes, corn relish, and bacon was great. The shrimp was huge and cooked perfectly. Housemade Sangria(2⁄5) — Not good =/. My wife and I have had better sangrias. This one was a little off for me. Probably would come back again sometime, but I don’t see us being regulars. Definitely some good eats though.

Impossible. Just impossible! How does a restaurant open only two short weeks ago and manage to serve up 5-star service and food? Grapeseed wildly exceeded my expectations and gets a much deserved welcome to the neighborhood from me. We started with a drink at the bar with a very-friendly bartender. I had the Macklind Mule, which was refreshing with vodka, ginger beer, lime juice and grapefruit bitters, served in a copper mug. Very good! We moved to the dining room and decided to split a bottle of wine and a few small plates: The roasted butternut squash salad — with arugula, pumpkin seeds, queso fresco and buttermilk dressing, this salad hit everything that I’ve learned(by obsessively watching The Food Network) is supposed to be happening in a dish. It had the sweetness of squash, with the savory and salty pairing of the dressing and cheese, topped with texture in the pumpkin seeds. The spaghetti bolognaise with gremolata was so extremely flavorful, with perfectly cooked pasta. You wouldn’t think a little gremolata would add that much to a dish, but it was a nice added zesty bite. Finally, the gnocchi! Can we just all agree that everything is better with butter? Ok, well this dish was the star of the show with gnocchi, brown butter, brussel sprouts, pecans and topped with parmesan shavings. So decadent and fantastic! I almost fell out of my chair when we split the bill in two and all of this, drinks and food, was only $ 33/each. Amazing value for what we received here. You better check this place out quick because, once it catches on, I don’t think you’ll be able to get near it.
