Goodbye, Kim! I’ve been chronicling my food journeys since the beginning of 2011 and became a Unilocaler in July of 2012. During this exploration, I have seen some pretty great places ran by great people disappear. Yesterday Kim’s Pizza announced its closing after Saturday(12/22/2012). Yet another good restaurant exits. And what a shame. After seeing just how lousy and arrogant some owners can be, it’s tough to see people who actually care about their patrons and give it their best shot go unnoticed. Kimberly M. is a great owner, and my brief encounter revealed that to me. It’s been almost a year since my last visit to Kim’s, last January. She was working all by herself, undoubtedly trying to save on labor. We came in with a gift certificate, and she treated us like normal paying customers, preparing nearly half the menu for us. We had a pretty hefty gift certificate. We sampled pizza, burgers, roast beef, and chicken wings. Everything was very good, especially the chicken wings. I don’t remember much, but she was very personable. However, I had a feeling that this place might struggle. The location was not one of its strong points. South Broadway may have once had some attention and even thrived but not at this point. We were the only patrons at the time, and despite our lack of support over the past year, I was always quietly rooting for Kim and her establishment. People like Kimberly M. are what make small businesses special. If you live in South City, I highly suggest giving Kim your patronage during these final days. I wish her the best in her future endeavors.

I live in the neighborhood and randomly tried this place cause I had an out-of-town friend here who thought we should check it out. They were located at their old, smaller location at the time. My first impression was how awesome it was to be waited on by Miss Kim herself and her family! She does St. Louis style pizza, but her own way and it is WAY better than Imo’s! She also does a mean Buffalo chicken pizza with mozzarella. Her new location has more seating than the old one, and a bigger kitchen for her to do her magic in! Once you eat here, you will not even think about ordering Imo’s again!

After finally convincing my wife to try this place with me, I’m definitely a fan. We had a St Louis style pizza with wings and cheese garlic bread. The pizza was similar to Imos, but the crust was a little crispy compared to the cardboard crust of Imos. Overall I really liked the pizza. The wings could have been crispier, but that’s my only gripe.

Decided to order on Sunday when they have the $ 10 — any size — up to 5 toppings special. I ordered mine STL Style(they will do mozzarella if you like). Very Yummy, can’t wait til next Sunday, LOL It was browned just right, crust was the right inbetween of chewy and crispy. Right amount of toppings. A++ for the pizza at Kim’s
