There’s dirty wanna be casinos and then there’s Lumiere Place. It stinks. Literally. Smells like a wet ashtray. Moldy and smokey.. .nice. Staff is a mix of angry Felicias and angry, gay middle easterners. Horrible customer service. Craps table staff is great. Every other table experience was the worst I’ve ever seen. GM should be run out on a rail. Lacking selection of table games and very stingy on the comps. Go ANYWHERE ELSE in the St. Louis area to gamble. Trust me.

The casino interior is very nice and modern. Design and architecture get an A+. Cleanliness, a D-​. But dear God the staff is a hot mess and have two speeds, slow and slower than molasses. The «welcome» counter is more like a «why are you interrupting me» counter. The gate keepers at the entrance of the casino carded me and then made me wait for 10 minutes without explaining what was the problem. When I asked, «Sir, what seems to be the problem, I was ignored. I was finally allowed in but no explanation as to why I was held up. One of the restaurant inside, The Diner, had two tables seated, yet it took a waitress 10 minutes to seat us. I didn’t eat but my husband said his waffle and bagel were good. The GM needs to be fired immediately and all managers need some customer service training. Next time we’re in town, we’ll make the drive to a different casino.

Highly impressed with the value of this place. Perfect location and connected to tons of restaurants and a casino plus walking distance to rams stadium and many other bars/​restaurants. Über is a great choice to get anywhere else and cost only $ 5-​$ 10 per ride to almost anywhere in the downtown area. The lobby of the hotel is very impressive. Our room was a suite (2 rooms, 2 tvs, wet bar, couch, table and chairs, etc.) and I still can’t believe it was only $ 89 for such a huge room right downtown! You can tell the place is older and had some older type smells, but nothing that bad. Can’t beat the price! Checking in and out were very smooth and we went right in. I highly recommend!

This is my first time gambling in St Louis. This review is purely about the casino area and gambling tables.
I played craps, my usual game. Craps dealers were on point, knew their game and all the slang very well. The clientele was about as good as an Oklahoma casino, but when you bet at a 10 dollar table, what do you expect?
The drinks were also stupid cheap, but for a good reason… They sucked. Bar service was very unnattentive. Cocktail service was non-​existent as well.
Aside from the drinks/​service… I’m knocking a point for two other glaring flaws… 20 bucks to park? Have you gotten high lumiere? I’ve never seen a casino charge to park… Yeah yeah you get is validated and the cash office gives you the 20 back, but seriously… Wtf? Annoying.
Also, your selection of slot machines is garbage. I know you’re limited on space, but you’ve got none of the machines I typically ply when I’m up on craps really well… Fail, epic fail.

I’d give it a lower rating if possible. No actually canceled my reservation and booked a room at another hotel.
The carpet is dirty and stained, there are no outlets in the rooms to plug chargers into (unless you want to move furniture).
At least the staff was accommodating when I asked for a refund.

They discriminate against whites. They’re 5’2″ state trooper couldn’t ride half the rides at great America but was acting like Ali. This shithole wouldn’t last In Chicago.

Checked out The Diner in the casino… It was decent. The buffet was too crowded so we checked out what used to be the burger bar. My waitress didn’t seem interested at all. The food was just okay how do you cook to order and the food is lukewarm? The pancakes were decent. I’d probably try lunch next time

Don’t stay here. I had rather high expectations for this hotel but it did not meet any of them. While it’s ok clean, it is not a luxury hotel. And don’t bring kids here, just don’t don’t do it. The pool is bigger than most hotels but much smaller than a luxury hotel’s pool. The pool area is extreme plain and drab and if you have small children, 5 – 9 yrs old, they can only stand in the first 3 ft of the pool as it gets too deep very quickly. The attendant would not allow the kids to jump into the pool although it’s not posted anywhere. The attendant will just tell them to stop jumping. I understand no diving, but i don’t understand no jumping. Another guest with four children, was as confused as I was on that one. We were the only two families in the pool area, couldn’t have been disturbing anyone yet the kids were not allowed to jump off the side of the pool, into the pool.
Although the rooms are two rooms divided by a door and decently spacious, the bathroom is by far the smallest bathroom I’ve ever seen in a hotel. You can be sitting on the toilet and reach the doorknob to open the door. The lighting is horrendous. Two lights over the vanity, nothing in the shower. Also missing is the fan to take the moisture that builds up quickly in this tiny bathroom. The shower head is pathetic also. I’ve had much better bathrooms at the Holiday Inn Express or many other hotels.
Although the room is made to accommodate 6, with 2 double beds and a sofa sleeper, they don’t provide enough towels, pillows or blankets and when you call for them, they say they will bring them but don’t. Had to call again the next day. Housekeeping never came to tidy up the room.
The front desk was courteous upon check-​in. (That might be the only friendly person we met there.) Management was unavailable to take a phone call from me at 7pm and the voicemail that I left about a few concerns went unreturned.
Paint chipping, wallpaper pulling up, and stained furniture were all present in our room.
Lastly, they actually charge $ 50 deposit to your card per night for incidentals and it’s not put back on your card until 10 – 14 days later. I’ve heard of authorizing your card but I’ve never seen an actual charge happen at a hotel.
If you’re wanting to stay here to gamble, then buck up a little more and stay at The Four Seasons which is connected to the casino and is truly a luxury hotel or go to the Ameristar in St Charles. There are lots of really nice options for hotels in St Louis, unfortunately this is not one of them.

Avoid this casino. The ownership change from Pinnacle to Tropicana has produced the worst customer service and experience I’ve ever encountered in a casino under 10 years in age.
First, they are taking every advantage they can to make a penny here and. Their slot return is poor (2% liess than the Casino Queen just one mile away across the river).
But the coup de grace was beginning the inclusion of Top 3 side bets on their blackjack tables. This is the WORST ODDS FOR A PLAYER in the casino — the house advance is 27;1.
Worse yet, while other casinos held the minimum to $ 1 play on Top 3, not Lumiere — their Top 3 minimum is $ 5. A player can easily lose $ 50 in 15 minutes playing this $ 5 minimum.
During off-​peak times, they’ll have just 4 blackjack tables open (excluding the high limit room). Casino Queen during off peak has 6 tables open.
The people who work at the Trop Advantage players member desk are often short and rude. The player rewards are the worst for any casino in the area. If you are primarly a table player, your rewards are next-​to-​nothing.
The facility has just once entrance so you have to walk forever to get in.
The Diner is very nice, that’s about the only positive. The sports bar/​restaurant was taken over by the firm that markets Ozzie Smith restaurants. It’s ok.
The buffet is no value — food is average but prices exorbitant — $ 34 on Saturday night. Ridiculous for a casino.
There are some nights they charge $ 20 to park! Security is asleep at the switch — a murder was committed outside the casino a year ago.
NEARLY FORGOT THIS: I tried to tip a porter $ 5 for being helpful to me when I was recovering from a broken ankle — he said Lumiere does not let employees like him accept tips. What does that tell you about management and ownership?
Now you know why it gets one star from me. I will go occasionally — only because I’ve made some good friendships with some of the dealers and pit crew.

MOST HONEST REVIEW FROM SOMEONE WITH CONTINUED EXPERIENCE AND DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Let me start with this first complaint… NOBODY KNOWS WTF THEY ARE DOING! I’ve never seen a more unorganized operation in my life. I continued to give this piece of shit casino (WORST CASINO IVE EVER BEEN TO) business time and time again ONLY because it’s a few miles from my home. NOT ANY MORE. ANY restaurant you dine at expect a wait even if there’s NO ONE fucking there. Most poorly managed restaurants I’ve ever been to and I’ve been around the restaurant business for many years. On top of the fact, you will OVER pay for BELOW average food that you wait WAY too long for to be disappointed. I’ve had CONTINUOUS problems from wait times, to poor food quality, to rude employees, etc. I have STORIES FOR DAYS. It’s truly embarrassing as it is impressive how they are still in operation with such terrible businesses?!? They solve their problems by avoiding and not addressing them. Hence what has brought me here today. This is only the beginning…
On top of ONE STAR restaurants, they provide a HALF star hotel. My first stay at Hotelumiere I moved rooms TWICE before getting a room that satisfied BASIC needs (proper room temp and working mini bar). So then they «upgraded» me to a room that just had more space for, pointless. Be careful of their SNAKE room charges because they don’t tell you at the front desk if you take something out of that «mini bar» YOU HAVE THIRTY SECONDS OR YOU HAVE BEEN CHARGED. The mini bar has sensors that time when items are moved. When I expressed my feelings on how my stay went the hotel manager she said that she thought my words were «belittling» to her… SORRY YOU FUCKING SUCK AT MANAGING A HOTEL! I could tell she did NOT have the education, experience, or knowledge to be running such a position. The hotel is not worth it.
I HAVENT EVEN STARTED TALKING ABOUT THE CASINO YET! I tried to block out the outside casino experiences and have some fun inside but what is awful on the outside is still BAD on the inside. The door security checking IDs are SO FUCKING DUMB, hence why they check, then tables have to re-​check, and re-​check inside the casino! It gets FUCKING ANNOYING. One time they weren’t going to let me in because I was TOO INTOXICATED, I didn’t have ONE drink and finally talking to this ignorant terrible fucking manager they were going to «let me in.» You stupid fucks I’d probably start with an apology for your employees being so FUCKING RETARDED! But, nope, another INCOMPETANT employee. I had a room booked for that night and the next just for a mini getaway and I CANCELED because I was too pissed off too sleep there. The table dealers are ⁵⁰⁄₅₀. Half hate life and have an attitude for no reason and the others are so fake they might as well have manikin dealers. The pit bosses are nice and respectful for the most part (which is standard) but they solve ZERO problems/​complaints so WHAT IS THEIR PURPOSE?!
How anyone gave more than 2 stars to this place must set their standards LOW for how someone should be treated when entering a casino. I went out to AMERISTAR tonight and let me tell you for a first time player they treated me with more respect in ONE night than Lumiere has in YEARS! FIVE STAR experience! That’s more than Lumiere has EVER GIVEN and they fuck up ALL THE TIME!!! FUCK THE LUMIERE! WORST CASINO IN THE ST LOUIS AREA AND BEYONDDD!!! I ordered my version with chill, eggs over easy cheese, hash browns, sourdough toast, and skillet potatoes. It was good meal no matter if it was 2 am.
The only complaint: I asked for no jalapeño peppers and the food took all day.
But hey, it was early am: I was too tired and hungry to complain and good things come to those that wait… and even with the jalapeño peppers… This was a good thing!

I’m not much of a gambler but I do love to get out and about around my city. I’ve played a slot or 2 or 3 or 4 however, I come for people watching, food and amenities.
I’ve eaten at The Kitchen Buffet restaurant which wasn’t bad; the food was pretty fresh and well rotated, the also make fresh omelets and waffles to order in the mornings. There is sushi, chicken (fried & baked) pork, turkey, beef. Plenty of salad options and a small fresh fruit area. Desserts consist of pies, cake, cookies, gelato and mini tarts.
Lots of seating and not disturbed by the nearby casino crowd. It ‘s nice if you’re with a large group and don’t mind buffet style dining.

Hotel review: Upon checkout, this joke of a hotel has gone from 3 stars to 1 star. The first room we were given on the 8^th floor had no AC, so after attempting to sleep in a room that was 82 degrees when it was set to 50, we moved rooms.
2^nd room: Shower doesn’t work. When you pull the lever to change it from bath to shower, nothing happens. There’s also a mini fridge where we stored our leftovers from dinner. What a surprise, that is broken too, completely spoiling all our food. Front desk says they can’t fix the shower or mini fridge. Onto room number 3.
3^rd room: No apparent problems until checkout. We did not eat or drink anything from the mini fridge, however, each time you open the mini fridge door THEY CHARGE YOU! They charged us money for opening the mini fridge door where we had kept a bottle of water. You’ve got to be effing kidding me.
Hot tub in the pool area doesn’t work (what a surprise nothing works in this shit hole) so don’t even bother unless you want to sit in room temperature (not even hot) water with a bunch of strangers.
Avoid this hotel at all costs. All the employees and managers are uneducated, rude, idiots who don’t know how to handle guests relations. I guess that’s what you get when you hire people with no more than a high school diploma to run a hotel.
I hope someone from management reads this review because I would be mortified to have my name associated with this joke of a hotel.

Decent hotel, friendly staff, great location but feels like the 1970s. For the most part the hotel was clean with the exception of some of the hallway carpets. The rooms are spacious but could use some serious updating. The old décor made the room feel very stale and old school. The walkway inside of the hotel offers easy access to the attached casino. For those of us who don’t gamble, the best thing about this place is the proximity to Laclede’s Landing and the free shuttle nearby.
I don’t think that I’ll be staying here again as I’m the kind of person who enjoys more of the upscale and updated hotels. Overall a solid 3 stars.

I have to admit that service at Lumiere Place has really gone downhill ever since the sale from Pinnacle Entertainment to Tropicana Entertainment. I have been on a handful of occasions ever since the sale last year, and I have noticed subtle «improvements». Most notably is the addition of mandatory parking fees enforced every Friday and Saturday night. The fee is $ 20, which can be reimbursed, however the process is a bit of a headache forcing you to gamble first, then visit the MyChoice Center to get your parking pass stamped, then trek over to the cage to collect $ 20. No offense, but that is a lot of work to get back your money. I am not sure why this process cannot be as simple as visiting the cage to get your refund after gambling. Then again I believe the reason behind this is that the average customer will forget leaving the casino never cashing in their parking voucher.
My most recent visit was on a Friday night, I had a voucher for a B1G1 meal and decided to give it a go. I didn’t realize that until I got in line for the parking lot that I had forgot my card. The parking attendant was rude and less than helpful and informed me that I had to pay $ 20 to even park or have a Gold Players Card, unfortunately I had neither on me at the time. I informed her of such and that I intended to use the ATM inside and gamble a bit after by dinner. She could have cared less, and told me that I could park somewhere downtown, walk to the casino, use an ATM, walk back to my car, and then park in the lot. I decided to try my luck at the garage, since the parking lot attendant was a lost cause. Same problem was encountered in the garage, with both attendants telling me that I could park elsewhere to come inside the casino to use their ATM, and then park in the garage. Now parking elsewhere might not have been a bad idea if Lumiere didn’t turn North 1^st Street into their own «Private Road» taking away all the parking spots and replacing them with «No Parking, Private Road» signs. While I was waiting in line to even get to the parking booth, I watch 4 cars have to turn around because they either had no cash on them or they didn’t have a players card, this leads me to believe that this is a common occurrence that could be solved by a «CASH ONLY» sign. Common sense, right?
Needless to say I didn’t end up visiting Lumiere Place that night, but I did try to call and voice my concern. Which ultimately was a waste of time as the lady that I spoke with informed me that I would need to come into the casino to file a complaint. ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME!!! I am not paying $ 20, to complain! After a few minutes she decided to take down my information and I provided her with my contact name, only to be told that they do not call people back. When I asked about calling and reporting this to Tropicana Entertainment, she said that all complaints are handled at Lumiere Place and that calling corporate wouldn’t matter. Well we will see, as I will be drafting a letter to Tropicana Entertainment later this week.
Now with all that said, I totally understand the need to prevent others from simply parking in the casino in an attempt to score free parking during peak hours. However with that being said they need to better educate their employees, and offer alternative ways to pay or offering some customer service at times. One would think with all the money they are bringing in collecting $ 20/​per car two nights a week that they could afford some top notch security team to patrol the parking lots and that the area would be devoid of any crime. Think again.

Use some common sense if using their «secure» garage, and most importantly arrive with cash & your players card. I however will be taking my business elsewhere!

Me and some friends went it was our first time being at a casino. So I don’t have others to compare it to. It was fun tho, and in a good location, you can gamble for a bit then go for a drink/​dance at the many bars there on the landing.

This is the worst casino I’ve ever been to in my life. And I lived in Vegas for years so I’m judging from a wide base… this joint is the worst.
First off, you have to go thru this stupid ID check with security guards before entering the casino floor. They inspect that shit like they’re looking for ebola molecules.
Then I swear this is what the security guard asks me while holding my drivers license: «What are you doing here today?» Ummm… well this is a casino with gambling, bars and restaurants, I think everyone here is obviously throwing away money in one of these areas. They didn’t like my response of «Stimulating the economy» and for a second it looked like the pseudo-​cop was going to prevent me from going inside the dump, but finally the dark forces prevailed and I was allowed inside the joke of a casino known as Lumiere Place.
There are only a few tables on the floor to play card games. Of course there are rows upon rows of slot machines, but they’re all as old as my grandpa’s balls. Seriously, the machines are ones that Vegas retired in the 90’s.
We posted up at one of the bars and took in the grossness of the joint from a proper perspective. liquored up and elevated a few steps above the ground. The customers were sad. The bartenders were sad. The atmosphere and vibe were sad. The place was just fucking sad.
I only came here because we made the mistake of staying in the Hotel Lumiere next door on a cross country road trip. That hotel sucks balls too. Just be smart and stay away from this property as a whole.

I beelined it to the blackjack table and got smoked out by a dealer called Dizzie.
She was puerto Rican I think, and dished out more 15s than a high school pimp. I hung on by my teeth while she pulled out improbable runs of impossible cards with her fast hands and her poker face and what the hell could her real name have been? Desiree? Deirdre? Just Dizzie? I should have asked, it’s bugging me now.
Casinos are kinda all the same, with their no clocks and their how-long-have-I-been-here’s. I liked this one, it was cozy in a down-​home sort of way and lacked the high-​roller sophistication and technological innovation of, say, your Macau money dens, which was comforting in a way I can’t describe. Felt like I could run into a friendly aunt or uncle here on their weekly lose-​the-​pension run.
Pro tip: play the Alice in Wonderland slots. Holy hell. 3D graphics, dancing fairies, lights and sounds and free spins for no reasons at all.
