Rosy Bakery & Candy

Rosy Bakery & Candy is a little piñata dreamland for children. This corner shop primarily sells Mexican candy, but I think they also do special order cakes. Additionally they sell tamales on the weekend, which are quite tasty. The strange thing about this store is that they don’t seem to have their name displayed anywhere on the outside or inside of the building, so you might have to keep an eye out for it. Otherwise, just find the corner shop diagonally across from Neveria La Vallesana. I couldn’t find the hours of service displayed, so it might be hit or miss on what hours they are open.
Why 4 stars then? Because it’s just a kick ass little candy shop. Maybe it stems from my never fulfilled dream of having a piñata birthday party as a child. Somehow my deprived childhood left a sort of emptiness in my adult life… anyway…this shop is a one stop for your piñata party. They have several different designs of these candy-​holding containers hanging from the ceiling, and lots of Mexican candy to stuff it with. Maybe I’ll have a UYE piñata party if anyone is interested.
I like trying new and different types of sweets like the tamarind or «dulce de tamarindo» pulp candy; I think the brand name is called Pulparindo. It’s sticky and chewy like a caramel, but tart with a sweet tamarind taste. I’m looking forward to trying Duvalin on my next visit. It’s a little tub of frosting like candy, and comes with a tiny spoon to scoop it out. There are so many new things to try that I can’t even begin to list them.
If you have an adventurous sweet tooth, or want to expose your child to new things, or maybe you’re Mexican and want a taste of home, then this is the place to go!

Finally a Mexican candy shop. As I enter this establishment I’m actually going down memory lane. From childhood candies to pinatas and some art work on the walls from my childhood TV shows. They also sell some tamales behind the counter on the weekends. You have all kinds of candies here. Excellent location. So next birthday party you have come here and pick a piñata, some candies and take it to your favorite park and enjoy hitting the piñata for some delicious treats. Until next time.
