Very sad to see Six Row close its doors. A gem of a place in Midtown. Many pleasant hours after Cards games!

Love the food and drinks here! It is a «hidden gem» in St. Louis. Excellent food. Quaint atmosphere with friendly service. The beer options are great; definitely try the beer flight. You will find plenty to like here.

Fun, clean and reasonably priced with good but not great food describes this review in a nut shell. Fun location in an older building gave the feel of a hometown brew pub. We were seated quickly with a group of 14(we did call ahead). Service was prompt and very friendly. Being a brew pub they had their own selection of beers on tap. I ordered 33oz tasters of their Imperial Stout, Vanilla Porter and their flagship Whale. The IS was a good stout, robust, good roasted barley flavor. A little over bitter on the finish but over all a good IS. The VP on the other hand was the weakest of the three. While you could smell the vanilla the taste was surprisingly weak. The beer for a porter was thin and watery with little flavor. Not a repeat order for my tastes. The Whale in my opinion was the best. Described by the sever as a cross between a wheat and an ale it was surprisingly very well balanced. Great mouth feel, good malt flavor and very drinkable. A good session Beer. The menu is filled with your fairly typical pub food selections. Sandwiches, beer cheese soup, fish-n-chips, pizzas, etc. I had the FNC with a side of wasabi slaw, others had pizza with an good not great review, buffalo chicken wrap again with good not great comments. My FNC was good, but more in the line of a baked fish with slaw and potato chips than what I would call a more classic FNC. Breading was good, fish not over cooked and seasoned well. I would have again, but not call it a FNC. The wasabi slaw was excellent and added a good contrast to the meal. Service was good but uneducated about the menu. When asked to describe the chicken salad had no clue and had to strongly suggest that she go and ask the kitchen how it wasted and what was in it. Upon return her description was your basic CS with celery, mayo chicken. Never sure she really asked and of course it was not ordered. Some sides came out cold. Overall not a bad experience, would go back but not going to be high on our list.

For Saturday lunch and beer after Member Morning at the Art Museum, we chose Six Row. This was the first time for both the D’s and T’s. At noon the place was empty, in fact out foursome was the only group for a time. Later, what was apparently a beer tour descended on the place. Ms T automatically went for the Double IPA and I chose the Black IPA. Both were good. I am more of a dark malt fan than the rest of the group so the Black was perfect for me. Mr D let me taste his pale ale/wheat beer cross called Whale, which is apparently their flagship. This would be perfect for a hot day after working or working out. I am not a wheat beer fan, but with this being a hybrid, I liked it and ended up buying a four-pack. We chose Six Row also because we wanted lunch. Ms T liked her Buffalo Chicken Wrap. Ms D and I had the Cuban. Mr D had Pastrami. We all enjoyed our sandwiches. You don’t expect special food at places like this and while it is not as ambitious as Urban Chestnut at the Grove, it was certainly fine. When my Cuban arrived, I confess, I could only see the end of the sandwich and it looked like a lot of dry bread. I found it to be well filled, plenty of meat and with a nice amount of dressing. I would order it again. I would place Six Row in the top tier of craft brewery places to include on a St Louis beer tour. The people were nice and since they were not busy at first, we had a chance to talk about their business a little. We will certainly be back.

This is a good little brewery. Small restaurant, nothing unique about the ambience but good craft beer. The food is decent, and the staff is very friendly. It’s usually more of a stop of convenience for me – if I’m in the area looking for beer, I might swing by.

Really tasty food and nice brews! We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon before a SLU Billikens basketball game. I had the Sat special chicken salad sandwich and he had the fish and crisps. Both were elevated well beyond standard bar fare. Beers were good also. There was a big rush of people all going to the same game but the two servers worked hard to get everyone’s drinks, food, and checks out so people could make it to the game on time. It’s a great spot to eat and drink when you’re near the SLU campus.

Definitely a cool brewery and bar to visit when in the Lou. I had tried their Whale brew elsewhere and had seen their stuff for sale around town, but the variety of standards and special and limited offerings at the brewery is great incentive to stop by. Because I’m indecisive and can never settle on just one type of beer, I opted for a flight of «taster» sized glasses at around 2 – 3 bucks a pop. First up was the Sunshine Slowdown, a definite session beer that felt much more summery than the weather outside that day. Next up was Anise Midnight from their Arch Nemesis series. The Anise Midnight is a slightly different spin on their Midnight Black Imperial IPA, with – you guesses it – anise added. I’m that kid who always liked the black jelly beans, so anise-flavored stuff is right up my alley. The original Black I-IPA is big and bold and hoppy and just a really excellent beer; It’s bitter, but not overwhelmingly so. Rounding out the mix was the First Crack Coffee Brown Ale, the collaboration of La Cosecha beans and Six Row brew. The coffee is strong in this one – like, really strong. I think it’s perfect for a cold-weather beer and a nice alternative to the usual coffee stout. While you’re here, make sure to check out the upstairs area! There are couches and a TV and darts and all kinds of fun things to do while drinking. Going upstairs here feels a bit like drinking at a friend’s house, only your friend washes the pint glasses and pours you another beer whenever you ask. It is GREAT.

This review is just on the beer. I’ve been in this brewery several times but have never tried the food. The beer is really well crafted. There is something for all the beer lovers. The bar area with the cool copper bar top is small but that makes the patrons required to interact which is always a plus. The happy hour prices are very good. I’ve been a fan of the Whale for a while and recently enjoyed the Killer Whale — 9.0% ABV — enough said.

Love this place! They have a great game room upstairs with darts, shuffle board, foosball, and they have a ton of board games and cards. Plus a TV and a place to play music! The beer is awesome too! They have $ 2 samplers and I got the HoneyWeizen, Killer Whale, Double IPA, and Punktoberfest and all were amazing :) definitely a solid place

Making the Saint Louis Craft Beer Week rounds! I’ve been a patron of Six Row Brewing Company on and off. Having once lived in the CWE, the brew house was just a few miles down the road. Even though I enjoy the beer, I’ve developed a love/hate relationship with the brewery. Here are the pros and cons. First of all, Six Row makes quality beer. They are definitely not my favorite, but very good. The brewery is fairly circulated through the STL area, with their signature Whale Ale and Porter available all over the place. However, sometimes you just to go to the source to see what else is brewing. Since it is Saint Louis Craft Beer Week, I swung by the brew pub last night to sample some staples and seasonal craft. I ordered a sampler of eight: Whale Ale, Double IPA, Porter, Honey Weizen, Killer Whale, Belgian IPA, Imperial Black IPA, and Sunshine Slowdown. Six Row has the dark beers down. The Porter and Black IPA were both solid effort. Of course, the Whale Ale is always good on tap. However, my favorite of the night was the Sunshine Slowdown, a seasonal cream ale. As for the service, it can be hit or miss, but the bartender last night was by far the best that I’ve had there. With Craft Beer Week in full swing, the place was buzzing with life and friendly conversation. Frankly, you can just tell when someone is genuinely a good guy. However, you might not be so fortunate with the service every time. There is one particular bartender who I like to avoid whenever I go there. He can get a little pretentious and mouthy sometimes. For example, he was talking poorly about Schlafly for no apparent reason. Every time I go in, I think that maybe they’ve fired him, but he’s always there, which the same could be said for last night. He didn’t wait on me, doing something in the back, but he would come up front to complain to the other bartender about something going on in the back. Some people are better suited for little customer interaction. With that said, Six Row Brewing Company can be a delightful place to try new brews and socialize. However, don’t expect consistency from the service.

Unexpectedly good food at this place. Our visit became complete with a tour of the brewing operation by a very curtious guy by the name of Nick. A very humble, patient guy. This place has quite a few batches going at once. From what we tasted, the favorite was the«killer Whale» ipa. Very clean place.

Six Row is one classy joint. The beer is outstanding, and the service is as well. The best part is the upstairs. It looks like an old smoking lounge out of a Humphry Bogart movie(is that even a thing?). One room has a foosball table, and comfy leather furniture. Another room has shuffleboard and dart boards. Everything is in really great condition, save for a couple missing handles on the foosball table, but still, totally functional. Damned if I can’t remember what beers I drank there. We were on a tour of microbrews all day, and it all kind of runs together now. Just try them all. You’ll be fine.

Who doesn’t like a beer with a big olé whale on it? This brewery really has it going on — their beers rock and quite a few really pack a punch. The bar is friendly and a good place to sit down with friends and have a sip. They have a neat copper topped bar — behind which is a great selection of board and card games that you can play while you eat and drink. I’ve tried a few of their dishes, I wouldn’t say I’ve been blown away by their food — but then I’m not really their to enjoy top cuisine. If you’re looking for a laid back place, with great beer and some pretty good food to munch on, check her out!

One of our favorite watering holes in Kansas City acquired a keg of Six Row Whale. I am pretty sure my bf and I drained it solo over the course of a couple of weeks. It became my bf’s favorite beer, but once it was gone, it was really difficult to find in KC. When the opportunity came up for a weekend in St. Louis, this was the first stop on our agenda. We went on a Saturday night at about 9 pm. It was not busy, and it was a little smaller than what I had expected, but that was a nice surprise. The atmosphere reminds me of the original Waldo Pizza in KC, and that’s one of my favorite places We sat at the bar, and while the bartenders were not friendly, they were not rude, either. We had at least a sampler of everything but the honeyweiss, simply because neither of us likes honey beer. The Double IPA was the winner for the night. For dinner, we both had the roast beef and cheddar sauce sandwich. It’s like a grilled cheese with a bunch of yummy rare roast beef. We got a pizza to go, and I love the thin crust and provol found in St. Louis. It was a great snack later in the evening! I wasn’t blown away by Six Row Brewing, but if I lived in St. Louis, I could come here every few weeks for grub and brew. I will return someday.

We’ve been here a couple times on a couple self created STL micro brew tours, and while it’s not my favorite stop on tour, it is always a must check for an STL brew. Their whale wheat ale seems to be their flagship beer, but I tend to be more of a fan of the honey weizen. The space for the brewery is pretty nice and like most breweries offer growlers to take home. I’ve never seen it crowded, but then again I don’t think I’ve ever been in here after 3PM, so that’s not a fair judgement. Additional they do offer some board games and other card games available for patrons while they enjoy a frosty beverage. I’ve never ordered any of the food here, and unfortunately cannot comment, but I’ll definitely be taking future visitors back here for some local STL flavor.

Quiet little micro-brewery right by SLU on Forest Park Parkway. Service is good, beer is alright. They had 8 on their beer list, but were out of 3, which limited the options a little. I tried their flagship, Whale. It was fine, but I didn’t love it. They have a decent amount of options for food for a microbrewery, but we were only there for a drink, so I can’t comment on that. They have a lot of board games you can play which is fun. I wouldn’t be opposed to going back, but wouldn’t say it’d be my first choice for a STL microbrewery. Pros: quiet, cool building Cons: beer is fine

First off — this place isn’t open at 11am. At least, it wasn’t when I swung by at noon to try a few beers. That being said, this place has some hit or miss beers — some are great, most are okay, and a couple are just not very good. Everyone else in my group hated the strawberry beer, but I was okay with it — not terrible, not amazing. The«whale» beer knocked my friend’s socks off — it was just okay to me. But their… amber??? beer?(sorry, it was the 4th brewery that day!) was great. Also, we bought way too many pretzels. Order them once, and you will too. With the honey mustard sauce. Our table went through, like, 4 baskets of them.

Went here for the release of there«Punktoberfest» during craft beer week. Really cool spot. Got the Buffalo Chicken Nachos, which were delicious, along with a flight of the beer(including the new one). There’s almost daily beers being unveiled here and always a comeplling specail or deal any day of the week. Also, you may not realize, but there is an upstairs with shuffleboard. I was there with a large group and we were able to hang with the whole upstairs area to ourselves.

Decided to visit Six Row while on a microbrewery tour of St. Louis, and I’m very glad we did. The narrow bar greeted us as we entered and we took a seat and perused our options. They have a very limited food menus, but we decided just to try some brews. We went with the $ 10 for 8 samples of beer. We got 3oz pours of 4 standards: Whale, Honey Weizen, Double IPA, and a Porter. We also tried the 4 seasonals Strawberry Weizen, ESB, Stout, & Red Ale. All of them were tasty but I especially enjoyed the Whale and the ESB, which had a great roasted toffee flavor. I liked the relaxed atmosphere and friendly bar staff. Definitely a good stop for beer fans.

I stopped at Six Row for my birthday with a group of friends as part of a micro-brew pub crawl. We started at Schlafly, went to Six Row, Four Hands, and ended the night at Urban Chestnut. Overall the atmosphere of Six Row was very warm and welcoming, it has a very rustic feel. The bartenders and wait staff were friendly and helpful. We ordered the sampler since we really couldn’t decide on a beer, and I have to admit I really wanted to like the beer but nothing really stood out for me, yes it was better than Bud Light, Coors, etc. However compared to other places I just felt that I didn’t have a single beer at Six Row that jumped out enough to be «my beer». It might have been an off night, so I will probably go back and give them a try again however the rest of my group felt the same way.
